Woodworks: A Sawmill in Minecraft

How often do you have to use wood in Minecraft? It is a basic resource type applied in numerous recipes and necessary for most buildings of both modern and medieval styles. Besides, many different Minecraft mods are somehow related to wood. Nevertheless, even in the vanilla game version, you have to remember the recipes and recall whether you need the crafting table to create, say, wooden steps or stairs and how to place them in the grid. A familiar situation, right? That is why we have prepared a review of a mod called Woodworks, which will add a sawmill to the cubic world — a unique item that will allow you to work with wood.

The sawmill of the Woodworks mod will allow you to craft different types of blocks and items using a special GUI. Only the items related to a selected wood type will be displayed in the list. Thus, if you are working with, say, the acacia wood, you will be able to craft items and blocks only of it. This applies to all other in-game elements of Minecraft. However, there will also be new types of blocks and various wood items, which make the Woodworks mod even more interesting.

Review of the Woodworks Mod

The mod adds a new block — the sawmill, which will allow you to quickly craft different types of items and blocks of wood. So you will not have to memorize recipes and use the crafting table all the time or carry it with you anymore. It will be enough to create the sawmill, install it in a convenient place, and craft any wooden element using the new GUI, whether it is vanilla or taken from the mod itself, as Woodworks adds many different types of blocks and items. The recipe of the sawmill and its appearance in can be seen in the screenshots.

You will be able to use it everywhere, be it the Overworld, End, or Nether. It will be enough just to craft the sawmill, install it, and start producing various elements from wood. Press Ctrl to create a whole stack of blocks and items. With the help of the sawmill, you will be able to craft any in-game wooden block or item in a couple of clicks, and this is very important for builders and designers who need numerous design elements. The items that require combining various blocks, slabs, sticks, and other minor details made of wood will also be more easily craftable.

But that is not the whole story! The Woodworks mod adds new types of noteworthy blocks and items to Minecraft. You should keep in mind, though, that if you use texture packs, say, Faithful, the new content will remain pixel and with low resolution. Just look at how cool the new types of bookshelves look! They can be crafted from various wood types and differ in terms of the color of both the shelves themselves and the books on them. It will now be much easier and more convenient to create full-fledged libraries in Minecraft, as there is plenty of content for that.

The updated types of wood blocks are particularly noteworthy. To craft them, you will need to mix three ordinary blocks and get a new variant. We have taken screenshots featuring their textures so that you can evaluate their appearance. They are perfect for decorative design and can be combined with other elements, including standard wood of different types: oak, acacia, birch, etc.

The mod also brings several types of beehives, which you have certainly not seen before in Minecraft. If you are engaged in breeding bees in the game, you will need these new blocks, which will allow you to create whole settlements for insects and roughly understand where a particular species will live. Their crafting will require honeycombs and different types of vanilla wood. Their recipes are simple and affordable, so any of you will be able to craft them and enjoy the gameplay. But that is not all, as the mod also adds different types of chests, also created from wood.

We have devoted a separate paragraph to the chests in our review to show how cool they are. The developers have tried to make their textures close to the vanilla style, so they will partially resemble the standard ones. However, each chest has a unique texture, depending on the material it is made of. The mod features the mangrove options, birch containers, a beautiful acacia chest, and a dozen others. Their storage capacity remains standard, though, and nothing changes in this regard. Their recipes are also similar to both usual containers and trapped chests.

The mod also brings different types of stairs and foliage carpets to the game. The foliage can now be used not only for decoration but also for crafting new carpets. They can boast quite a decent appearance, especially when it comes to the azalea, which is not that easy to find in the cubic world. So if you have long missed decorative mods, be sure to download the Woodworks add-on and take full advantage of it. It features numerous different blocks that will allow you to create new types of interior or exterior design. So designers and builders will certainly appreciate such a set of tools, while players who create modpacks will surely add Woodworks to their favorites list. At the moment, this add-on has been downloaded almost two million times and is available for Minecraft 1.19.2.
