If you want to see more animals in Minecraft, even if you have installed all the latest updates for the game, we recommend applying a mod called Wild Lands 2, which will add 14 new species of wild animals to the cubic world, each with a unique appearance, elaborate design, new loot, and characteristic sounds. Moreover, some of them can be tamed, bred, and used at various types of farms. Let us dwell on each new mob.
Let's start with the most interesting and big in-game animal – the giraffe. It is featured by many mods, but the developers still haven't added it to Minecraft. In the Wild Lands 2 add-on, it is of very high quality. The baby giraffes look especially cool.
It spawns mainly in the savanna biome and can be either a large specimen or a baby, but in the latter case, it lives with its parents in a group. They attack the player if they try to attack calves, but get stuck in trees, say, in acacias, and so cannot effectively fight. However, if it starts attacking you in an open field, it will be difficult to escape from it. After its killing, it will drop meat of a new kind (large mammal meat). It restores much more hunger points than all the standard meat types in the vanilla version of Minecraft.
We continue our review and proceed to the armadillo. This animal species is extremely rarely featured even by mods. So, we should be grateful to the developers of Wild Lands 2 for this unique type of mob with a perfect 3D model. It most often spawns in the desert biomes and drops medium mammal meat when killed. The latter is another food type that can be cooked in a furnace.
It is not difficult to kill such a mob, as it runs away as soon as you start attacking it. It is the first mob under the review that players can tame. It will be enough just to have wheat. They will happily reproduce if you feed them periodically. As you might have guessed, you can create a farm of armadillos.
Another extremely interesting and unusual in-game mob is the platypus. It mainly spawns in the desert but sometimes can be found near water in other biomes. It practically does not react to the player in any way if you do not touch it. It is basically a neutral mob; however, it is quite capable of fighting back and inflicting serious damage on the player. It is one of the dangerous creatures in Wild Lands 2, which bites the player, imposes the Poison effect, and moves both on water and land, so it is not easy to escape from it.
It is also possible to breed platypuses in Minecraft. For this, you will need frog legs dropped by the frogs (this mob has been added by this add-on and has nothing to do with the official game version, especially given that this content was added far before the release of the 1.19 version). You can also breed it with the help of its own drops. Thus, the meat of the platypus can be used for its taming. Here is such a strange mob.
It is a beautiful and very massive mob, which is an especially attractive feature of Wild Lands 2. These animals spawn in many biomes but are most often found in forests, fields, and meadows. They can spawn both individually and as a group, including several babies. It does not attack the player first.
But if you hurt it, you will have to fight back. Their herd can simply "trample" you, dealing successive attacks and damage, so be careful. Upon death, this mob drops a small amount of meat and skin.
It is another interesting and large mob in Minecraft, which can be found in mountainous and hilly areas. It cannot be bred and is neutral towards the player. But if you attack it, it will be very cruel. Their herd can literally smash you with their attacks, which are extremely difficult to dodge.
Generally speaking, it is recommended to avoid these animals if you are not going to touch them. They look cool, though.
All the mobs described above are true giants compared to the jerboa. It is a cute and tiny living ball that spawns in the desert biome. It can be detected against the background of the light shade of sand; otherwise, you would never be able to see, much less catch a jerboa in the grass. As soon as it sees you, it will immediately run away. Its behavior is somewhat similar to rabbits, so you can only kill with a bow if you are lucky enough.
However, we do not recommend killing them, as these animals can be bred. You can use carrots for this, and after a while, small cubs will appear. They, by the way, are even smaller than the adults, so it will not be easy to notice them even in the desert.
Otters mainly spawn in Minecraft individually but sometimes can be found in a small group. They look impressive, especially the model itself. One immediately wants to pick up this animal. They are neutral to the player, but once you attack it, all nearby otters will immediately come running towards you, which would mean you are in trouble. By the way, according to the developers, it is one of the most dangerous animal species in the Wild Lands 2 mod, so it will be difficult to escape from their group.
They attack and bite painfully, strong, and fast. They have a small number of health points, so they die after a few blows. However, due to their number, they leave no chance to the player. The salient feature of the otters is the possibility of taming. You will need raw cod for this. This animal will follow you everywhere and teleport, so fans of pets will especially appreciate this mod. Even if an otter's health points decrease, you can replenish them with frog legs or raw cod.
The mod could not but add birds, so you should appreciate the turkey. It will now be possible to meet this animal in fields and grassy biomes. Its health stock is small, but it can boast a beautiful appearance. It can be bred using wheat and lays eggs, so you can pick them up and get even more mobs.
After death, it drops meat (medium bird meat) and feathers. Compared to the chicken, it gives a lot more loot, so it is more suitable for a farm.
An unusual name, isn't it? However, such a bird indeed exists. It is a unique mob, which is also a species of bird. It is tall and can boast a beautiful and very uncommon appearance. Their height is comparable to the player. It mainly spawns in the savanna, so you will see them together with the giraffes. Their salient feature is unique eggs with characteristic shades, which is unusual for Minecraft.
It has a large number of health points and drops a small amount of meat and quite a lot of feathers after death. So, it is a great option to create feather farms and piles of arrows. This bird can be bred using wheat and lays eggs.
The snail is certainly an unexpected mob, but the developers have decided to diversify the Minecraft world in this way. It is a tiny creature, which is almost indistinguishable in the grass.
It can be bred with the help of wheat, and if you decide to kill this creature, you may get some slime. It would be fun to create your own snail farm, wouldn't it?
Perhaps the developers of Wild Lands 2 have deliberately added two such small and not particularly affecting flora and fauna living creatures just to diversify the game world.
Slugs are very rare in terms of spawning, so it will be difficult to find them, let alone see them among the grass. You can also breed them and get slime after their killing — a little more than from snails.
Frogs have already been added in Minecraft 1.19, and they were, by the way, long-awaited. But do not forget that the Wild Lands 2 mod was released a long time ago and so features a different species of frogs. They always spawn in a swamp, so it is difficult to notice them because of their color and small size. They have a small amount of health, move by jumping, and drop several frog legs that can be fried. As we have already noted, for some mobs from this mod, this loot can be used for taming and feeding.
Frogs can be bred with carrots. Of course, it is a strange way of feeding, but perhaps the developers have found nothing better. Thanks to such an approach, you can easily create your own farms, get a large number of frog legs, and tame other mobs.
We have almost completed reviewing our list and should say a couple of words about the praying mantis. It has a small amount of health, but such creatures are not afraid of players at all. If you attack it, a mantis will run away from you, but you should not do this.
It drops nothing at all, so you will spend a lot of time and may get only a small amount of experience. They can be bred with the help of wheat, so each player has a unique opportunity to create a cool personal mantis farm.
The last mob in the list under consideration is the jellyfish. We have deliberately left it for last, as it is the only new creature that lives in water. It will be possible to find it in the ocean waters, but we do not recommend approaching it without armor if you decide to attack it.
It moves jerky, can impose the Poison effect, and after that, it inflicts a large amount of damage. A jellyfish drops only slime after death. So, if you decide to kill some mob just because of loot, it is better to find another creature.
It is the complete list of the animals available in the Wild Lands 2 mod. This add-on is really cool, and the developers have made every effort to elaborate the design of each animal and implement a unique loot for some of them, but the mod has not been updated for a long time. You can install it only on version 1.12.2, and nobody knows whether there will be any updates in the future. All the mobs have spawn eggs, so you will be able to summon any of them at any time in creative mode, regardless of which biome you are in.
