Varietree: New Tree Variants

Do you like the virtual environment of Minecraft? It features numerous tree types, foliage, and a wide range of biomes. However, in the vanilla version, most of the trees do not have variants and differ only in terms of type: oak, dark oak, birch, etc. So if you are tired of the uniform tree trunks in Minecraft, be sure to install a mod called Varietree, which will solve this issue. The visual picture will be transformed, and you will be able to enjoy an updated environment and capture better screenshots and videos — not to mention that it will be much more pleasant to play with more diversified in-game flora.

The Varietree mod changes the tree generation system in Minecraft. The trees will now have several shapes, which will bring more variety to the game world. As a result, forest biomes will look way more natural, interesting, and high-quality, even though the changes affect just one detail. Unfortunately, the developers from Mojang do not make any efforts in this direction, although they are intensively working and releasing new game versions with a lot of content. However, that is not a problem, given that Minecraft has such a broad fan community.

Review of the Varietree Mod

The main task of the Varietree mod is to diversify woodlands by adding new tree shapes. In the vanilla game version, they are like a carbon copy of each other and thus do not add any beauty, especially when you come close to them and look more closely. That is why it is better to install a mod that does not change the vanilla survival in any way but changes the generation of in-game trees and thus transforms the entire virtual world. The new tree variants will not only appear naturally, though, but will also be able to be grown using saplings. That applies not only to oak but also to all other kinds, which is not insignificant.

Every tree in Minecraft will now have a unique shape. They can look quite standard or completely unfamiliar. Thus, there will be variants where foliage prevails or, conversely, the trunk is too tall, and the foliage is scarce. The generation system will do everything in this regard, and the forests will be transformed. It is a sheer pleasure to play in such biomes, and if you consider how many different locations with forests Minecraft features (flower forest, dark forest, birch forest, etc.), then the depth of the transformation of the game world this mod brings becomes evident.

And that is not the sole feature of the Varietree mod. After you install it, you will also be able to grow huge oak species. Perhaps you remember what the dark oaks look like in Minecraft. The same system will be extended to the ordinary oaks. You will need to plant four saplings and use bone meal to grow them. It will be enough to click on the saplings several times to grow such a large trunk with a massive crown. That looks really cool, and the large oak is even more interesting than the dark trees in some respects. If you plant such trees in your garden, you will be able to make a cool location in almost any biome.

As the designer of the Varietree mod claims, it is still under development, and in the future, he plans to add even more diverse options to transform the Minecraft game world and make it truly unique. Thus, we can expect to see more 2x2 tree variants that will generate in the savanna and other biomes. There will also be different types of forest biomes, woodlands, and new tree shapes. We have already uploaded maps whose designers manually created new types of trees, but if the latter were to generate naturally, we would see an altogether different game.

The functionality of the add-on under consideration is not that broad. We have told you about all its features, so if you would like to slightly transform the forest and diversify the content in Minecraft, be sure to download the Varietree mod and take full advantage of it. It works with version 1.19.2 and copes with its tasks perfectly. However, for the trees to acquire the updated textures and shapes, you will need to generate a new world. Besides, you can install some shader or texture pack that changes the visual picture beyond recognition. The performance of your PC plays a crucial role here, as such packs are resource-demanding.

Note! You can also install an add-on called Blossom, which we have already thoroughly reviewed. With its help, you can add apples to the oak tree. They will grow in the biomes where bees pollinate plants, which is another noteworthy game mechanic. We have attached several screenshots here so that you can appreciate the scale of the changes. Be sure to try the mod if you would like to enjoy a more realistic environment and fascinating gameplay. It can be used both in single player mode and on any server.
