This mod brings a dark dimension that absorbs light and all living things. It is a very gloomy place where you would not want to spend your weekend. It is so dark that neither the local glowing vines nor the night vision potion can save you. However, the local mobs are perfectly visible, as they glow in the dark.

In short, it is a new, truly dark dimension full of dangers, horrors, and loot.

Biomes and Dungeons

Unlike other mods that add new biomes and dimensions, True Darkness Elementariy does something odd: it adds these biomes to the vanilla world of Minecraft as well. One them is the lavender fields, and the second is the darknite layer. And you will have to find and explore them, as it is there that the key to the dark dimension is hidden.

To begin with, you will need to find the lavender fields and spend the night there. During sleep, you will not see the standard dark screen. Instead, you will receive a series of chat messages with hints about where to move next. Briefly put, you will need to find the elements of the tablet that can teleport you to the new dimension.

The first one is located in caves under the lavender fields, and the second is at the ocean bottom. Find them, combine them in the crafting table, and go on a journey across the new and unexplored dimension.

You will find various biomes there. These are mainly the dark swamps, dark wastelands, and dark plains. All of them are underground, so you will not see the sky for a long time.

Even so, the light level there will be more than enough for you, thanks to the large number of glowing blocks. Everything glows there, including the vines, stones, and mobs. However, it is still worth having a couple of night vision potions or at least torches, as the most deep mines will be dark anyway.

You will occasionally come across various dungeons. These can be quite frequently found houses, mines, or ruins of various buildings. As usual, you will find chests, loot, and useful items that you can take with you inside.

Mobs

The mod adds quite a decent number of new mobs, and they are not mere retextured vanilla creatures but truly new and unfamiliar ones.

They are of several levels. The low-level mobs will not give you any particular problems, as they are either equal in strength or even weaker than the vanilla ones. These include corrupted knights, waste runners, eridium zombies, and other mediocre creatures, including flowers.

The medium-level mobs, albeit not being bosses, are rather strong and difficult-to-kill creatures. Golems, ghosts, and knight generals are strong but not particularly dangerous for an experienced player.

When it comes to the bosses, there are three of them: the Portal, Corrupted Hand, and Forgeet. All of them are dangerous, very strong, and can become deadly opponents, as unlike you, they have from 200 to 500 health points.

Blocks and Ores

The local wood is represented by three types of mushrooms and trees. From all of them, you will be able to craft the standard building blocks, along with bookshelves, chests, and other wooden objects.

The new ores are quite numerous for a not particularly large mod. There are as many as ten of them, and most of them can be used for crafting new armor, weapons, and tools.

The mod also adds new crystals: the eridium, groobentiy, and metenite. You will also be able to create new armor, weapons, and tools from them.

Natural blocks like dirt, stone, or sand are also abundant there and more than enough to build a full-fledged city with only unique buildings. All the blocks can boast pretty nice textures, look interesting and unusual, and can be used both for construction and decoration like the vanilla ones.

Weapons, Armor, and Tools

The mod adds quite numerous weapons, armor types, and tools, which are mainly crafted from not particularly valuable ores.

No weapon or armor brought by the mod can be considered imbalanced. You should not expect something especially cool and strong: the most advanced weapons and armor here are equal to the vanilla netherite ones. The rest are much worse, and perhaps you will not even want to craft them — provided, of course, you do not want to gather the full collection.

Misc

The mod adds surprisingly many decorative blocks and items. They do not have any functions, except for the glass, and are just eye-pleasing.

Besides, you will be able to take advantage of seven unique drinks from various ingredients. Each of them has some effects. These can be quite simple, like Calmness, or superb, when you are simultaneously affected by Strength II, Fearlessness, and Regeneration for as much as five minutes.

When it comes to food, though, the mod does not add anything special. It is basically rather meager salads made from the local fruits and berries and sculked apples without any effect.
