Roots: A Mod That Adds Natural Magic

A mod called Roots adds new items, druid knowledge, weapons, and armor to the game world. You will also be able to perform various rituals. This mod requires an add-on called Mystical World, without which it will not launch.

The Druidic Arts

For a detailed study of the mod, it is recommended to craft a book called The Druidic Arts at the early stages of the game. It describes all the blocks, rituals, etc.

World Generation Features

Small huts are generated all over the game world and can be found in any biome. Their walls are made of spruce, and straw, which is added by this mod, is used as a roof. There is only a cauldron and a couple of pots of saplings inside. Such a hut has a cellar in which various mobs, such as zombies and witches, sleep. There is also a chest that contains random objects.

New Ores

The mod adds three new ore types: amethyst, silver, and copper. After breaking an amethyst ore block, the amethyst is immediately dropped, but the silver and copper need to be smelted. These ingots are needed to craft weapons, tools, and other items.

Weapons

In addition to the ordinary sword, there is a new knife. It can be crafted of amethyst, silver, copper, and ordinary stones. The amethyst knife inflicts six damage points, the silver knife five, and the copper knife only four and a half. The amethyst tools are equal to the diamond ones, the silver tools are slightly better than the iron ones, and the copper tools are equal to the iron ones.

New Mobs

The mod adds nine new mob types: fox, frog, beetle, sprout, deer, endermini, owl, lava cat, and silkworm. All these creatures are neutral and will not hit anyone. If a lava cat jumps into the water, it will go out and become obsidian. It will walk as before — nothing will happen to it.

Obtaining Mossy Cobblestone

There is a new way to obtain a mossy cobblestone. For this, you need to put a block of cobblestone near the water and cover it with the terra spores. You can get terra moss from this cobblestone — it can be obtained with any knife, be it stone or amethyst. The terra spores can be found in the grass — it is enough just to mow the latter, and it will drop with a certain chance. With the help of a knife, you can also cut the bark of trees.

New Crafting Table

A new kind of crafting table called the fey crafter is created from the terra moss. The energy of nature is needed for it to work, which is ensured by an object called the grove stone.

Activating the Grove Stone

The grove stone needs to be activated. For this, you need mortar, a pestle, and any flower. Plant the flower in the mortar, click on holding the pestle, and you will get petals.

Crafting a New Magic Item

The spell dust is created from these petals. Besides, you will need any door, the mossy cobblestone, any sapling, and the wildroot. You should put all these components in the mortar and use the pestle.

Using the Spell Dust

This dust is used to enchant the staff. To do this, you need a small campfire added by this mod.

Staff

For the staff to work, you need the terra moss and roots, which are used as fuel. But for the staff to use them, you need a special bag, which can also serve as a usual storage means with 18 slots. Once you activate the grove stone, you can use the fey crafter. You can create a ritual stone in it from four stones and lapis lazuli. To get eight ritual stones, you should hit the crafter with a knife.

Using the Fey Crafter

The fey crafter can be used to create four types of plants: the cloudberry, infernal bulb, dewgonia, and stalicrype. They are used for crafting other items, such as the unending bowl.

Besides, the living tools and the wildwood armor can be created on this crafter. They are slightly better than the iron ones in terms of effectiveness.
