Roamers: Player-Like Characters for Minecraft

Despite a large selection of different locations, mobs, and bosses, singleplayer in Minecraft always lack live players, and so it becomes boring to play it. Even if you try to create a large inhabited village, it will not be able to substitute for real users. However, it is not necessary to create your own server or call all your friends, either. We would like to draw your attention to another solution — to install a mod called Roamers, which allows you to populate the game world with random player-like characters, both friendly and hostile. They can perform certain actions, simulate the real users, and just serve as a substitute for players in the interactive environment.

Generally speaking, the Roamers mod adds many unique characters to Minecraft that differ not only in appearance but also in behavior. They will extract various types of resources, hunt animals, reproduce, light campfires, move around the game world, build houses, and much more. If you want, you will be able to interact with them and gain their trust. However, there will also be pillagers that conduct evil deeds, such as robbery, murder, and raids.

Overview of the Roamers Mod

The mod brings ca a dozen different character types that spawn in different biomes. Thus, there will be one type in the forest biome, another in the savanna, and still another in the jungle, and all of them will radically differ from each other. The developer of the Roamers mod has elaborated the appearance, added unique textures, as well as drawn all the significant facial features, skin color, and many other elements of each type. So once you meet a particular character, you will roughly understand what kind of biome it is from, although they mostly move within their lands. Such a wide variety and distinctive features in appearance diversify the gameplay of Minecraft and greatly expand the game's potential.

Once a map is generated, these character types spawn in different biomes. They begin to build their houses from different materials. The latter can be both wood and other blocks from the vanilla version of Minecraft. By default, the houses also appear in different states, completed or unfinished. The same applies to the resources from which a house is built. Thus, in the desert, it is sandstone; in the taiga area, it is spruce blocks — so there is a clear dependence on the biome. Moreover, the construction process can continue indefinitely, as these settlements are periodically raided, and thieves steal some of the resources.

After they finish the construction, all the NPCs place beds, equip their houses inside, and add chests. They put there all their items from the inventory, thereby arousing additional interest from the bandits. The latter can attack at any time of the day, so the settlers light bonfires and put guards. Moreover, the player can actively participate in wars between the factions. By default, all the roamers are engaged in cooking, hunting, and fishing, that is, getting and preparing food. They adopt a certain approach based on the biome they are in. Thus, if there is a forest nearby, they hunt or pick berries, if there is a river, they go fishing, and so on.

All the food is then cooked on a campfire — a special character, the cook, is responsible for this. By the way, the system randomly assigns each resident a certain job according to its characteristics. All this works perfectly, so when you look at these bustling settlements, it seems that you witness just a group of users playing on a server. In favorable conditions, the residents will also reproduce and have children. You will be able to interact with them, for example, by giving them valuable things, cookies, and building materials for adult NPCs. Moreover, you will have special relationships with each faction with an indicator showing how much you are trusted.

Each character has a separate inventory and can store resources, armor, and weapons there to fight with enemy factions, thieves, and other in-game NPCs. In general, they can boast an advanced AI, although it is still far from perfect. Anyway, the mod has proved to be cool. It features a large number of functions and constitutes a simulator of different factions living by their own rules. You can participate in their everyday life, help them build, provide them with resources, treat them neutrally, or ignore them altogether.

However, you will not be able to ignore the bandits, as they are hostile towards the player as well. So you will have to participate in battles, occupy their houses, take resources, and destroy dozens or even hundreds of their groups throughout the game world. In some cases, the roamers will assist you, as they have similar goals. We have described them only briefly, although the Roamers mod has a large number of features and game mechanics. Thus, each resident behaves differently and has unique features.

When it comes to the bandits, they have altogether different behavior patterns and a unique way of life, tasks, combat tactics, etc. So if you would like to diversify the Minecraft game world both in single and multiplayer mode, be sure to install the Roamers mod and get a huge amount of content at your disposal. This add-on is perfectly compatible with the recent versions of the game, works correctly in any build, and allows you to diversify the standard gameplay in the cubic world. Take advantage of all its features and take the side of good or evil. It is solely up to you to decide which faction you will be with!
