Nether's Overhaul

A mod that slightly expands the Nether World and adds a bit of new content into it. From now on, new and absolutely charming mobs will inhabit the Warped and Crimson Forests – small live mushrooms, snails, turtles, and even hell bees. But don’t be fooled by their cute look! This is still the Nether, so even the nicest mushroom may well kill you.

The mod adds five new hell mobs in total. These are two types of live mushrooms (be careful with them, as they can explode like creepers, and the Nether – is a wrong place to experiment), a turtle, a basalt snail, and a hell bee. You can find them in random places when going through the «Hot Tour» achievement, but mostly in those biomes which they are from.

Mobs

The Warped and Crimson mushrooms can’t boast of a high health level, but as we’ve already mentioned, they can explode and cause severe troubles to their opponents. They live in the Warped and Crimson Forests, respectively.

The Basalt Snail – a relatively peaceful mob. They live in the Basalt Deltas, crawling there, and generally, despite quite a tidy health level, they don’t particularly bother you.

The Turtle also lives in the Basalt Deltas area. It has quite a lot of health – more than vanilla mobs, and a rather strong shell. You should kill them to get the drop at least, but we’ll talk about it later.

The Nether bees are almost similar to the vanilla bees of the Overworld. They have a little more health – 5 hearts only, but as for the rest – they are as indifferent to the player as the vanilla ones, have the same common consciousness, and love for the hell vegetation. By the way, they don’t drop honey either.

Drop

The mod isn’t particularly rich in drop. In fact, only turtles and snails will drop something that you can collect and use for crafting.

The Basalt Snails will give you Slime, which actually has no practical use at all.

The Turtles will drop their Tongues, which are rather valuable if you enjoy collecting new armor. You can use these to craft a rather solid breastplate with +6 protection points, however, without any additional effects.

The chance is slim that the Mushrooms will drop a Mushroom cap, which you can wear as a head-dress. It doesn’t provide you with any particular advantages.

Food

The mod also adds two new dishes to the game. The first one is a new mushroom soup, which you can craft of the warped and crimson mushrooms. It’s rather strong by itself, plus it imposes two useful effects: the Haste and the Speed for 5 seconds. Indeed, there is a debuff as well – the Poisoning effect, which, however, will last 3 seconds only, which isn’t particularly destroying. You won’t be able to craft the second dish yourself – only find it in chests. It’s also quite a strong food with a strange name, which imposes the Haste effect on the player for as long as one minute, as well as the glow effect similar to that of the glowing berries.
