Missing Wilds: An Update for the Wild Update!

For several years in a row, the developers have been providing us with the opportunity to vote for mobs to be added in a new update. Each user can only vote for one option. However, that is not a particularly right approach when all the candidates can be added at once. This is exactly what happened with the Wild Update, which has not included fireflies and forest changes. But the world of mods is not standing still, and the designer of the Missing Wilds add-on has returned all the missing content.

It includes those very fireflies, new fallen trees found in every biome, and even a wide variety of flowers. The game world will be transformed — not dramatically, of course, but still notably. The textures and animations are very high quality, which will enhance the game experience. During the game, you get only positive impressions.

Review of the Missing Wilds Mod

The mod itself is quite small. However, the designer did his best, as the changes are very relevant and eye-pleasing. To begin with, let us consider the biggest change, namely the one related to the forest.

Birch Forest Changes

For some reason, the developers abandoned the idea of adding small mushrooms to the trunks, even though they are very frequently found in real forests. This shortcoming is now fixed. They look very attractive and, most importantly, vanilla-like. You do not feel that you use some mod, which is highly important for some builds.

Besides, these mushrooms can be cut off and fried. They are a good meal option at the initial game stages because of their number.

It is hard not to notice the new blocks, or rather the branches sticking out of the trunks. Such a minor detail has a great effect on the overall picture. The forest feels new now, and that is exactly what the game lacked — not to mention that more blocks can now be extracted from one tree, which is undoubtedly an advantage.

The fallen logs perfectly complement the visual perception as well. The interesting thing is that in the mobile version of the game, they have been present for a very long time. It is not clear why it was not transferred to the PC version. In turn, the moss covering these trunks further emphasizes the age of the wood.

New Flowers

The designer has added flowers that are very similar to the sea pickles in terms of mechanics. Thus, a single block can feature several such flowers, which makes their possible combinations incredibly large, especially given that they can be of different colors. That is just amazing, and Minecraft developers have much to learn from this mod.

Fireflies and Jars for Them

This mob is not that easy to encounter. It appears only in swamps and only with a certain probability. We can say for sure that they will certainly spawn on the new moon, and on the full moon, the chance is 0%. Besides, they only appear at a height of 60 to 70.

Once you notice these cute creatures, you need to click on them with an ordinary glass bottle. They will be trapped inside, but you should craft a special jar for them. All because they will constantly emit some light when they are inside it. The textures are drawn just fine, and these blinking pixels look very cozy. They create the atmosphere of a swamp where there are a lot of sounds everywhere, and only small fireflies fly above you.

Hollow Trunks

The designer has also added a large number of hollow tree trunks. However, they are exclusively birch. So you will not find anything similar in other biomes, no matter how much you travel across them. Fortunately, they can be crafted, so you will be able to decorate your environment and structures with fallen trees.

In conclusion, we would like to note that despite all the changes, the vanilla style has been meticulously preserved. In fact, this mod is like an official update for our favorite game. So be sure to add it to your builds, as it will certainly not hurt. This mod supports Minecraft 1.20.1.
