Review Infinity Cave

Infinity Cave: A Reworked Underground World

Like to travel in the underground world in search of minerals or something unusual? Think that there the potential of the vanilla caves is scarce and would like to experience extreme conditions while underground? Then be sure to take advantage of an add-on called Infinity Cave, aimed at bringing new content to the underworld. The main purpose of this mod is to add new locations there without using new blocks. And the designer has indeed managed to do that, as the mod can boast as many as six unique biomes of the underworld, which look as if they consist of altogether different blocks. The new caves feature a unique mob spawning system, which will be examined further on, but for now, let us proceed to the new biomes themselves.

Frozen Caves

It is the most unusual biome for the underworld, which will indeed strike the player with its features. As the name suggests, it is very cold and contains a lot of ice. However, there are other unique blocks in this biome, which are purely decorative and will not generate naturally. These are glass panes serving as huge icicles. Besides, you will come across tube corals, which are perhaps the only plant type growing there and suit this biome perfectly. Lots of blue concrete blocks also make this place unique. The most important thing is that the frozen caves are light, so it is a sheer pleasure to explore them without having to waste torches.

Amethyst Caves

The next cave type is the amethyst caves, which are no less exciting locations to explore. Accordingly, this biome mainly consists of the amethyst blocks and their variants. The amethyst caves are very eye-pleasing, and the crystals are perfect for this biome. It is very bright there, and it is not even clear why, considering that there are no luminous blocks at all. However, that is beside the point, as we came to these places to get new impressions. In the amethyst caves, the water gets a fabulous color, which will certainly appeal to you. Besides, the local fog will acquire the color of amethyst and thus look unique.

Deeprock Caves

This biome is very similar to the vanilla caves, but there are still some differences in the form of additional structures. In general, it will seem familiar to you. The additionally generated blocks include the cobblestone and gravel, which make this biome look slightly different. Besides, there are cobwebs there. They are not numerous, but the main thing is their very presence. Sometimes, the player can come across unique structures in the form of the remains of various creatures, but it is very difficult to find such locations. We will consider all the structures added by this mod below.

Sulfide Caves

Long dreamed of visiting bright, colorful, and green caves with lush vegetation? The mod will provide you with such an opportunity, as it adds sulfide caves completely covered with greenery. It goes without saying that the water there is unique, and the fog is green. These caves mainly consist of the moss blocks, which make them green. Besides the grass, you will see such plants as the fern, torchflower, azalea, big dripleaf, and spore blossom there. These colorful caves are particularly noteworthy, as you certainly have not seen anything like them anywhere, and even the Overworld cannot boast such an abundance of plants.

Molten Caves

The molten caves are perhaps the most dangerous biomes in the underground world because of the abundance of lava. For the player to be able to somehow move through these caves, there are magma and orange concrete blocks. All of them match the lava's color, though, so you can confuse them at times and step on the lava instead of a safe block, which makes this biome difficult to explore. The molten caves resemble the Nether biomes but are also a great option for the underworld. Fire corals serve there as the main plants. So be sure to go on a journey through these red-hot caves to enrich your game experience.

Limestone Caves

These caves are not particularly remarkable and have been added to bring more diversity. They are very dark locations without any glowing blocks at all, unlike other cave biomes. Various blocks serve here as the ground, mainly andesite, dripstone, and brown concrete. The new mob spawning system also applies to the limestone caves.

Structures

The mod adds as many as eight new structures for the underworld, each of which is a unique location with special buildings. The player will be able to find one structure in almost each of the added biomes and even two unique structures in some of them. It will be a very difficult task at times because some structures are closed rooms that will be remote from the caves themselves. But if you are persistent enough, you will certainly find at least one new structure — they are very interesting to explore! Besides, they are quite useful, as you can find chests or barrels with treasures in them. If you are lucky enough, you will be able to find valuable resources!

Mob Spawning System

It may initially seem that the new cave biomes are empty because there are no mobs in them. But the fact is that this mod reworks the mob spawning system, and at the beginning, you will see no mobs at all. In fact, the new approach is simple and straightforward, but the main thing is that it will make the gameplay more difficult and interesting. The mobs will now appear progressively, becoming stronger each time. They will acquire different equipment, improved armor and weapons, and enchantments. The drop chance has been increased as well. In short, the new system is quite appropriate, and you will appreciate its unique mechanics. Besides, you will see the name of each mob displayed above it.
