Getlin III

The third part of the Getlin mod, with even more new content, biomes, and mobs. New dungeons have also been added to the game, where you can comfortably fight with rather difficult bosses and get a couple of chests with useful loot as a reward.

The first steps

If you haven’t dealt with other parts of this mod yet, then first study the construction of the portal. Here, the portal should be crafted of blocks of gold, and its frame should be similar to the vanilla hell portal.

However, the frame activator in the mod is a special one, which is crafted of a cobblestone block and Redstone.

By the way, now the portal flashes and glows with all colors of the rainbow, unlike its one-color predecessors.

Character menu

Just as in the previous versions, the character menu opens by default with the «m» button and can be changed in the control settings. Inside, you’ll see a new upgrade menu design, divided into three logical components: combat, health, and other. Each menu opens a separate branch of skills you can develop using the experience gained in the game.

The system of gaining experience has been complicated as well. Now it’s not enough to just walk around killing everyone you see and dividing the experience points between the branches. The experience is divided into the same three components as in the menu. Sometimes you’ll have to complete tasks, sometimes to kill, and sometimes to craft various items or loot. The skill branches will be upgraded using the experience points in a particular field.

Biomes and dungeons

A new version of the mod has significantly lost in brightness and acid shades but has become completer in terms of generation. Now, it’s not an empty lonely island, but a full-fledged Dimension full of oceans and lakes, islands and forests, plains and mountains.

The dungeons have become completer and more meaningful. From now on, various ores will spawn there, which you can find useful in future crafting and trading. These aren’t new ores, these are vanilla coal, iron, lapis lazuli, and others, but now you can find them in the Getlin dimension as well.

Still, you shouldn’t count on finding a lot of dungeons, because there are only two of them here: a small stone box and something resembling a low tower. Inside, there is a spawner and a couple of chests where you can find food, weapons from the mod, and a variety of artifacts.

Mobs

As in the previous mod version, you won’t find any Traders here. However, you’ll find four characters – a Miner, a Lumberjack, a Hunter, and a Veteran. They won’t follow you, but will give you various tasks, for completing which you’ll receive the in-game currency and the corresponding experience. You’ll also be able to buy starting tools and weapons from them.

Beyond that, three new aggressive mobs have been added to the game, which are strong and mighty enough to become a problem for the player, and four full-fledged bosses.

Bolin. A stone golem. Unlike vanilla golems, this one is totally against the player and tries to damage him at the first opportunity. It’s interesting that it doesn’t seem to damage the player (there is no blow animation), but the player’s health begins to drop sharply when approaching it. The big guy has as many as 20 health hearts, so be very careful when approaching it and shoot from afar if possible.

Cebelo. A grass block with eyes and a large stone hand, which the mob uses to attack the player. It should be noted that, although this mob doesn’t have a lot of health and is somewhat equal to vanilla mobs, but it causes so much damage that it needs just three or four blows to knock out a player wearing the Netherite armor. Can rarely drop its head after death. This mob is mainly dangerous due to the fact that it rarely spawns alone, and its hand can penetrate through blocks and hit the player at a distance of a few blocks.

Tarakari. A pretty cute mob, not particularly dangerous or aggressive. Won’t chase the player first, but will fight back. It has both little health and damage; rarely drops its head.

Granlero. A boss. 800 HPs and very powerful close-range attacks. Has two fighting options – shoot from a distance or climb three blocks up and just strike it with your sword – it won’t be able to reach you from so high and will just walk around.

Illignus. A boss. 700 HPs. A magician; enjoys throwing the player into the air, but boldly strikes with its staff as well. A rather dangerous opponent, so you’d better invent the battle tactics with it in advance and not approach it if possible to avoid critical attacks.

Linhas. A boss. 900 HPs. It looks like a big yellow tombstone, often gets stuck in blocks, thus causing damage to itself, and is rather clumsy, so you can use the same battle tactics as with Granlero: just climb higher and strike it heavily.

Itan. The most dangerous of all bosses. 1000 HPs. Attacks with fire, attacks with a staff, attacks with itself. There’s only one combat option – run around it and shoot with something powerful.

Killed bosses may drop summoning totems. You’ll find them useful if you feel like fighting with someone of them again.

Weapons and armor

As in previous versions of the mod, the author is still fond of powerful weapons and armor. Swords still give +26 damage each, and armor is as protective as possible. However, they still keep the balance – you simply won’t be able to overcome the bosses living in this world with vanilla equipment.

Still, you can’t craft either armor or weapons, but only buy or find them in the dungeons.
