Review EvilCraft

EvilCraft

A techno magical mod that adds really dark magic to the vanilla world of Minecraft. Build infernal mechanisms, perform black rituals, make bloody sacrifices, pump blood from your enemies for the sake of your magic, and become what you should be in the end – a true Servant of Hell on earth.

Getting Started

Before getting started, you need to craft the main quest item – the Grimoire. This is a guide to the game, which contains all the main tasks and crafts.

Start the game as usual and extract a new ore in the mine – the Dark Gem. You can extract it with an iron-level or better pickaxe from new blocks of Dark Stone.

Next, use a Dark Gem and an apple to craft the Darkened apple on a workbench and feed it to any peaceful mob.

After the mob dies, an Anomaly will appear at the place of its death. Throw an ordinary book into this anomaly and it will give you your cherished Grimoire.

That’s it. Now you have what you need to complete the gloomiest and darkest magic mod in the vastness of Minecraft. Then just follow the instructions, unlock new spells and magic rituals, and kill as many mobs as possible to become the strongest Dark mage of the square world.

Dungeons

The mod adds new watch towers. You can easily find them by a peculiar shining beam, resembling a lighthouse. But it only resembles them, since there’s a completely different structure inside the towers – a Weather Battery. In the future, you’ll be able to use it to collect the weather in a bottle.

In addition to that, when traveling you’ll come across familiar dungeons, like abandoned mines or old jungle temples, but with an unusual «bloody» vibe. These structures are rather rare and actually don’t contain anything really important.

The first steps on the Road of Blood

Inside the mod, all the mechanics are based on collecting and processing blood, no matter how strange it may sound. Blood literally means magic here, and you’ll have to collect liters of it. Therefore, the first craft after the book will be a special device called a Blood Extractor.

To craft it, you need a block of glass, a Dark Gem, and a new item – aspike. To assemble the spike, in turn, you’ll need an iron ingot and a Dark Gem. As a result, you’ll get as many as 16 spikes, so it’s one of the simplest craft elements.

Craft as many Blood Extractors as you can in advance. You shouldn’t worry about a place in the inventory – the Extractors are perfectly stacked and can even be combined into one high-capacity Extractor on a workbench.

You can combine as many Extractos as you like, there is no upper limit. But you don’t actually need it, because you’ll need only 50,000 mV volume to start the game, and then special mechanisms will come into play.

To get blood in the Extractor, you have to kill mobs. Any mobs. The most curious thing is that you can squeeze a certain amount of blood even out of skeletons. But of course, living peaceful mobs have more of it, and the bigger the mob, the more valuable liquid it contains. You don’t have to kill mobs with the Extractor, the main thing is that it is located in the quick access slot.

Next, you need to pour the blood you’ve got into a specially dug hole 3 by 3 blocks (or of any convenient configuration, but not less than 2/2) and wait a little. After a while, some squares of blood will turn into the Solid Blood.

Now take a fire striker and set the Solid Blood on fire to get a Solid Blood Shard. To get started, you’ll need 9 such shards.

Throw one Dark Gem into the remaining liquid blood and get the second craft item – a Bloody Dark Gem.

Now, you can use these two items to craft a Blood Star, which later you’ll use for the first serious mechanism – a Blood Infuser. In fact, it’s one of the initial key mechanisms that works like a vanilla workbench. You can use it to craft new items, artifacts, and elements of complex crafts. You will no longer need to bathe the Blood Gem in a blood pool; all you’ll need is to put it in the Blood Infuser.

You can find all the recipes accompanying the Blood Infuser in your Grimoire.

In the future, from these simple initial elements you’ll be able to craft complex mechanisms, furnaces, and automatic blood collectors. Grimoire will help you on your way of upgrading your skills.

Mobs

The mod adds several new mobs to the game.

Werewolf Peasants look like Peasants, behave like peasants, and have gray hair instead of vanilla one.

Tamed zombies don’t burn in the sun and don’t attack the player.

Poisonous dragonfly imposes poisoning and slowly kills all living creatures around.

Nether fish – an absolute analogue of the Silverfish but in the infernal skin.

And only Spirits added by the mod are really unique mobs. To see a spirit, you need to put on special spectral glasses and head to the place where a particular mob died. Actually, it will be its spirit that you’ll see.

You can release and capture spirits, or even put them into special spirit traps for later using them to make automatic farms for collecting blood and resources.

Weapons and Armor

The mod adds no special weapons and doesn’t add armor at all.

Weapons are represented by two magic staffs – one imposes poisoning, and the second throws skulls to kill – one weak blade with +4 damage, and claws resembling the mole claws.

Instead of armor, the mod added the artifact jewelry mechanics with various effects and a few backpack options that differ in style only. The backpacks add several storage slots in your inventory, as well as allow you to craft various items inside it.
