A mod at the edge of magic and technology that allows you to use the energy of the elements to do magic and invent amazing mechanisms that facilitate life and survival in the square world of Minecraft. The mod is rather beautiful and complex. Many call it a successor of Botania, so if you’re a fan of technological magic, which is more about process than witchcraft, be sure to try playing this mod.
First, before you start doing various charms and transformations, you need to master the profession of a miner and find a new ore – the Inert ore. It’s a rather shabby stone that is easy to miss, so be careful and dig more than you need – the Inert crystals will come in handy throughout the game.
Then, you need to melt the ore in a furnace or foundry to get your first inert crystals.
And only after that you’ll be able to get down to your first craft in this mod – to create your own Elementopedia. You’ll need one inert crystal and a book for this.
Elementopedia – is your guide and tutorial in the world of elemental magic. It contains rather detailed instructions on every development direction in the mod. The book is made in a textbook-style, so you can’t jump to a more advanced level right away – you need to master basic knowledge first and gradually move on with your studies.
There are four elements in the game: the Air, the Water, the Earth, and the Fire. They differ in color and randomly spawn everywhere.
You can find the elements both by just walking around the world, and on special altars of the new structure added by the mod. Beyond that, chests with various useful items will also spawn in these structures. For example, there will be no other way to get Shards or Runes at the start of the game, but in chests. By the way, it’s also recommended to collect blocks from the structure, because you won’t be able to create them soon, but you’ll need them badly for crafting.
These very elements will be the main sources of power for your mechanisms. But before you can process them, you need to build special tanks. To construct the first small tank, you’ll need to convert an inert crystal into a gold one on a workbench, then craft special pipes from this gold crystal, and create the tank itself after that by combining the pipes with a glass block.
After crafting the tank, you need to fill it with the energy of the corresponding element. You’ll need an elemental extractor for this.
Next, you need to build the following structure: install the tank under the element, place the extractor atop of it so that it is located right under the element. That’s it. Your first primitive energy collector is ready, and your tank is being filled with the energy.
Now, when you hover the mouse over the tank, you’ll see what element it is filled with and to what level.
After that, you can feel free to break the extractor and install your first infuser atop of the tank. Or not to break anything, but use pipes to conduct energy to another tank and install an infuser atop of it.
What is it? It’s the first primitive matter converter. For example, if you managed to extract the energy of the Earth and put a stone on the infuser, then it will turn into a new block of White Stone over time (3-5 ticks), which you can further use to craft more complex mechanisms.
You can use the same infuser to transform the inert crystals into the charged crystals. To do it, just place the inert crystal on the infuser under the corresponding energy tank.
Shards are another way to extract the energy of the elements. You’ll find only few of them in caves and chests. There are several types of shards by the number of the elements.
To get energy from the shards, you’ll need to craft a special element evaporator.
Next, install the evaporator on the tank and put the shard into it. After a while, the shard will break down, the energy will get into the tank, and you can use it. But keep in mind that the floating element is a rather long-term source of energy, but the most primitive coarse shards won’t serve you long.
To prolong the Shard’s service life, you can process it into a more perfect one. Thus, you can use coarse shards to get Great Shards that fill the tank up to the half.
The Sun Synthesizer is the last and most effective way to get energy. However, you’ll need to thoroughly study all the possible crafts to get it. To craft it, you’ll need: a hardened handle, two drenched iron nuggets, two swift alloy nuggets, one solar prism, well, and one gold crystal, and two blocks of white stone. As well as the lens of the required element.
Drenched iron nuggets are crafted on an elementary infuser by processing iron nuggets. But the rest will require some special effort from you. First, you need to craft a more advanced transformer – a so-called element binder.
Next, install it on any filled tank and look up crafting recipes in your Elementopedia. Thus, to craft swift alloy nuggets, you’ll need to put as many as six elements in the correct order on the element binder. After that, the transformation will be completed, and you’ll find the material in your inventory.
On the same element binder, you can craft lenses, various processed crystals, and many other elements that you may need for crafting, so it’s recommended to create more tanks with the energy of all four elements in advance.
You can upgrade and automate all the above-mentioned mechanisms, add pipes to them, or put a crafting template into a special device, so that you don’t need to re-craft element binders for the subsequent transformations.
To improve everyday life and farming, the mod adds quite a lot of mechanisms. First, these include various furnaces, crushers, cleaners, and stone cutters. They operate similar to the vanilla ones, but a little more efficiently. Besides, they can bring you various new items from the mod.
Next, you can proceed to crafting various altars. There are 15 varieties of them, and all of them make the player’s life much easier. For example, the End Temple prevents teleporting in a 30-block area around it.
The Lava Temple generates a lava block each 30 ticks.
And the Wild Grove Temple actively grows various flowers and grass around it.
There are also automatic spawning temples, accelerated plant growth temples, vacuum temples that quickly collect blocks within a 10-block area into a chest, and many other useful devices.
And now let’s look at the most interesting mod section – magic. Yes, the elements aren’t only about growing and transforming something, but also about real spells that you can perform using a special magic wand.
To start turning into a magician, you need to craft a spell table.
Next, open the spell table menu and see that you need an empty scroll, a crystal of a particular element, and an unpurified gem of the same element to get a spell scroll. As the result, you’ll get a few scrolls with spells. You can repeat the procedure with the same crystals or change the element. In total, the mod offers 20 scrolls with spells of different elements.
You can store spell scrolls in the Elementalist Grimoire. Its slots can keep up to 100 different spells.
To make magic, you’ll need a special focus. It’s an analogue of a magic wand, where you can load your spells.
Next, you’ll need to combine the focus with the corresponding spell scrolls on an anvil – they will always be in quick access for faster magic. The focus can keep up to 6 active spells. You can always reset and replace the charms you don’t need.
To repeatedly use the staff, you’ll need special portable tanks for the elemental energy. They must be full and be in your inventory. As in the mod’s other aspects, the spells here also take power from their energy tanks: fire spells from the fire one, water spells from the water tank.
The mod is rather large, it contains many different crafting chains and useful devices. From the visual point of view, it also looks rather nice and canonically fits into the world of Minecraft, so you can use it as a pleasant addition to the vanilla game or part of your magical assembly.
