Review Easy Mob HealthBars

Easy Mob HealthBars – a mobs’ health bar

How do you know that the mob in front of you is going to die soon or has little health? This is a big problem in the vanilla version Minecraft, both for hostile and peaceful mobs. For example, how do I know that a tamed ocelot or dog has a low HP level? Unfortunately, there is no standard function for this, and it’s a «dig at» Mojang developers, who over the years failed to add any separate interface or icons so that you can check other mobs’ health parameters. But in this case, third-party mods are always ready to help, and almost all the «drawbacks» are corrected by third-party mods. We’ll talk about one of these in this article …

The Easy Mob HealthBars mod will add a separate tab above a living creature or a mob in Minecraft, and you’ll be able to see how many HPs it currently has. All information is displayed in real time, and if the character’s health decreases, you’ll immediately see all the changes. However, this system doesn’t work for all mobs, bypassing the Ender Dragon and the Wither. This was made so that the player couldn’t kill bosses easily, focusing on their health indicators. Which is right in fact, although we talked about another add-on, Neat, which displays HPs for any creatures, including those from third-party mods.

The Easy Mob HealthBars mod review

The mod function is quite simple – to add a health bar to all vanilla mobs in Minecraft so that the player can see what HP level they currently have. This is a very convenient system that allows you to track mobs’ health and approximately understand how many HPs hostile creatures have, or, vice versa, check HPs of your tamed pets: parrots, pandas, and ocelot dogs. There is no such system in the vanilla game version, and the developer of the Easy Mob HealthBars mod decided to fix it. Again, this only applies vanilla mobs, and if you want to see all the creatures added from other add-ons, you should better install Neat.

By default, the health bar is full if the creature’s health is at 100%. But the color will differ, depending on the type of creature. If it is a neutral or friendly mob, then it will have a green scale above it, and if it’s hostile, then the scale will be red. With such a tiny marking system, any beginner in Minecraft will immediately understand who is hostile to him and who’s not. In general, there are a lot of different creatures in this game, and each update introduces even more of them, so sometimes you can get confused. For example, a dog can also be hostile to the player if you hit it. Then, the scale will change from green to red, and you’ll immediately see all the changes.

The health bar is displayed without any data. That is, there is no HP percentage as in other mods, but this information is more than enough to understand how much health a certain mob has in the game. When fighting any creature, you’ll immediately see how HP decreases or increases. This works not only for mobs, but for players as well, although Neat provides more information, including armor characteristics, health percentages, and other important parameters. Here, it’s up to you to decide which mod to use for your assembly.

The Easy Mob HealthBars mod is available for the Forge loader only, and it’s a great option for users who collect mod packs on this platform. At the time of writing the article, the mod was available for Minecraft 1.19.2 and worked correctly with all mobs. You can see in our screenshots what creatures with health markers look like. This is really convenient, and you can anytime decide which mob to kill first to save more of your health during a mass attack. Also, this system will allow you to quickly check which of your tamed creatures has low health parameters.

We’ve described all the functions available in the Easy Mob HealthBars add-on. If you need more data, try installing Neat, which has over 82 million downloads. Indeed, it has by times more features and many settings, but there have always been many alternative mods for Minecraft, since dozens of thousands of developers keep creating new mods for the game all the time, considering the experience and bugs of similar products. Due to this, there’s still competition among the fan community, where each player will be able to choose which mod to install, depending on the required libraries, loader, available Minecraft versions, and many other parameters.
