Ruins, mossy cobblestones, underwater fortresses are just a short list of items that the player has to interact with in Minecraft, and they all contain a piece of «mystery» and secret. Moreover, the Mojang developers have never really told anyone any backstories of this or that dungeon. Players just loot and explore them, fight mobs, but get nothing but resources. Would you like to touch upon more mysterious things? And if they also could give you interesting effects? It will give you some motivation, won’t it? Indeed, because in this review we’ll tell you about the Standing Stones add-on, which adds stones with effects!

The Standing Stones mod adds standing stones from the Skyrim universe to Minecraft, and each structure will be randomly generated in the game world and feature its own specific effect. Indeed, the player can touch this stone and activate bonuses and abilities through a special GUI interface. Believe me, you’ll like the buffs assigned by the Standing Stones, but you’ll have to save these locations’ bearings to reuse them later, since structures from this mod aren’t easy to find. The Standing Stones add-on is based on Skyrim, so some stones from this game will appear in Minecraft. Each structure has its own unique effects. If you want to get a buff, you’ll need to approach a stone and right-click on it to open a tab with separate controls. Keep in mind that the player can have only one active effect at a time, and you’ll have to choose which one to use in Minecraft at the moment! As soon as you activate a new effect, the previous one disappears, and you should keep this in mind if you decide to play with the Standing Stones.

You can’t either break or pick up the stones. You won’t be able to transport or copy them, put them in manual mode or craft. These are random structures randomly generated in the game world. To get new effects, you’ll have to remember the spawn location and come there whenever you need. However, for example, if you want, you can install the Waystones mod, which adds small portals to the game. It uses similar structures in the statue form, which perfectly fit into the general style of the Standing Stones. It will allow you to move to the stones you’ve found at any time and get the effect you need in a matter of seconds.

At the moment, the following stones and effects will be available to you in the latest version of the Standing Stones mod:

· Jump Stone – gives the increased jumping power effect. You’ll be able to jump higher, and this isn’t the best buff available in the game.;

· Mining Stone – increase resource extraction in a couple of clicks;

· Sneak Stone – if a player touches this stone, he’ll become invisible when squatting. Yes, this is a prerequisite. To become completely invisible, you must squat, even if the mobs are already «following» you. They lose sight of the player and don’t cause damage;

· Water Stone – gives you the opportunity to breathe underwater, but at the same time it has certain side effects. For example, the «Curse» effect is applied to the player, bringing fatigue and slowness whenever you get into an aquatic biome;

· Luck Stone – gives you a good luck effect. But the author doesn’t explain what exactly luck is used for.

All new structures from the Standing Stones mod are scattered throughout the game world, so we recommend that the player keeps exploring biomes and mark points on the map, remembering the locations of the stones to use them in the future. This will be valuable information on a Minecraft server that you can sell to other players. You can use Standing Stones in different situations, such as:

· Using buffs. The easiest ways – to get effects at the start, when the player has almost nothing, but these bonuses give some advantage and speed for development;

· Enhancing farms. You can build a farm next to such a stone to boost its efficiency, and it’s up to you to decide which one;

· Building houses. If the player has found such a stone, he can build a house next to it or make the territory completely private, thus taking over the territory;

· Selling bearings. This is another option for business and making money on a Minecraft server if you keep exploring biomes and traveling around the game world.

Do you need to install Standing Stones? You can try it! This isn’t a global update, but it adds a few functions and is definitely worth looking at. The mod doesn’t really affect vanilla survival, so you can feel free to install it and explore biomes. All the stones you’ve found will be a bonus for you, and you won’t have to spend time intentionally searching for them. However, we recommend taking a look at the screenshots we’ve posted to get an idea of how such structures generally look like, and what are the differences between them.
