Review Roaming Alphas

Roaming Alphas

Roaming Alphas is a small mod that adds six new unique bosses and new weapons to the game.

Alpha Zombie

The first new boss is called the alpha zombie. It looks like the ordinary zombie but is much more powerful and larger. The alpha zombie can boast as many as 115 health points, and the sun does not burn it. Upon seeing the player, it instantly becomes furious and gets the Speed effect to catch up with them as quickly as possible. Besides, it will spawn ordinary zombies — they will burn under the sun, though. If you are far away from this boss, it will roar at you to poison you for a few seconds. The danger to all the zombies, including this boss, is water. So if you are not ready to fight it and want to escape, the most effective option is to jump into a reservoir. However, you should run away as quickly as possible because his henchmen will eventually turn into the drowned and will be able to swim after you. The boss itself will be able neither to swim nor turn into the drowned, though. The alpha zombie has no unique attacks and deals six damage. If you manage to overcome it, it will drop a large number of items: the rotten flesh, the alpha flesh, a diamond, several iron ingots, its head, and some experience.

Alpha Skeleton

The second new boss is the alpha skeleton. Like the above one, it is not afraid of the sun and feels quite well during the day. It has 120 health points and is equipped not just with a bow but with a giant sword and crossbow. Moreover, it is even more difficult to run away from it, as it is slightly faster. This boss deals four damage per hit. The alpha skeleton, like the alpha zombie, does not burn in the sun and so can easily attack you during the day. Despite having a giant crossbow on its chest, the alpha skeleton never uses it for now, even when it cannot hit you with the sword. Besides, this boss can occasionally summon skeletons during the battle. After death, the alpha skeleton drops many bones, several iron ingots, the alpha bone, diamonds, and two skeleton heads at once. Using the alpha bones, you can craft a very powerful sword that can shoot arrows. It will inflict eight damage and have an attack speed of 1.3. To create such a sword, you will need to defeat the three bosses.

Alpha Creeper

Next comes the alpha creeper. It has relatively small but can still boast a large amount of health, namely 118 points. However, unlike the above bosses, the alpha creeper has two unique attacks. By default, when the player is close enough, it simply hits them, dealing 5-6 damage per hit. But if they are far away, the creeper uses its super attack, which can be distinguished by poisonous particles. A couple of seconds after, it begins to levitate and then suddenly falls, thus creating a very big explosion. If you are without equipment and close enough to the epicenter, you will instantly die, and the adjacent territory will be quite seriously damaged. So given such a large amount of health and these two attacks, it will be much more difficult to defeat the alpha creeper than the above bosses. However, unlike the alpha zombie and alpha skeleton, this boss is very easy-to-escape, as the alpha creeper cannot boast a high movement speed. After death, it drops a certain amount of experience, enchanted spikes, many iron ingots, diamonds, gunpowder, and the head. From three alpha spikes, you can craft a very powerful grenade. It is equivalent to two TNTs and explodes only when it touches the ground.

Alpha Enderman

One of the most sinister bosses is called the alpha enderman. This mob can boast 110 health points and a mutant-like appearance. Just like the ordinary enderman, it does not attack the player first unless the latter hits it or looks at it. Besides, the alpha enderman can teleport, pick up blocks, and dodge any throwing weapons. However, unlike it, this boss is not afraid of water. It deals 4-6 damage points to the player and, unfortunately, has only the default attack with its long and wide arm. The death of the alpha enderman will bring you many valuable resources: a large number of iron ingots, diamonds, ender pearls, the head, chorus fruits, and the unique eye. The latter will allow you to craft the abyssal pearl. It can teleport you just like the ordinary ender pearl, but you can use it several times without suffering damage.

Alpha Blaze

This mob is arguably the strongest and most dangerous of all the new bosses. Its fireballs, besides inflicting 6–7 damage points, ignite and repel the target without requiring practically no recharge. So this boss can shoot them incessantly. However, the alpha blaze has only 100 health points. Besides, it can fly but cannot boast a fast speed. The rapidly spinning shields serve to protect this mob from arrows or any other throwing weapons, so it can only be defeated in close combat. After overcoming it, you will receive a large amount of experience, diamonds, iron, blaze rods, and a unique rod. The latter will allow you to craft the blazing pickaxe. It instantly smelts all blocks, such as the iron ore, during mining, thus giving you ingots. Besides, it is good as a weapon because, in addition to inflicting five damage points, it sets enemies on fire.

Alpha Stray

The last boss added by this mod is the alpha stray. It has no vanilla counterpart but can boast very large and impressive dimensions, not to mention an odd appearance. This mob has 120 health points and inflicts 5+ damage per hit with its long stone sword. Besides, it can be compared to a ghost, as upon seeing the player, it becomes invisible and shows itself only when attacking them. Each blow of the stray additionally imposes the Slowness effect, which, given the huge movement speed of this boss, does not allow the victim to escape. However, if you still manage to defeat this invisible monster, you will get a large amount of iron, diamonds, ice, and bones, as well as the head and alpha cloak piece. The latter will allow you to craft a special item.
