Review Reaping

Loot Animals Without Killing Them

In Minecraft, players not only have to mine resources and farm, but also to extirpate animals to get meat from time to time. It is cooked in the oven, then proving to be quite beneficial when restoring satiety and health. Anyway, players have to kill mobs in the game, although some players don’t want to do it. Do you belong to this category of users too? Then, you can install the Reaping add-on, which will change the standard looting mechanics for different animals. You’ll be able to collect drop from them, but the animal will remain alive and you won’t have to kill it. Do you think that this is impossible? Anything is possible!

The Reaping mod adds several new items (reaping) to Minecraft, which you can use to loot animals , for example, cows and sheep. They will drop everything that is usually dropped when you kill them: skin, wool, and definitely meat. But the mob itself will remain alive and turn into a cub. That is, in fact you turn an adult mob into a cub to collect loot from it. To repeat this operation in the future, you’ll have to wait for some time until the mob becomes an adult again. An interesting mechanics, aren’t it? Below, we’ll show and tell you how to do it in Minecraft in a couple of clicks.

How do you usually collect drop from mobs? For example, you need to get meat from cows and sheep. You’ll have to kill them. But now, you’ll be able to refuse the standard system and apply other mechanics: you’ll have a new «reaping» or «scyce» item in Minecraft, simply put. With this tool, you can approach any mob, right-click on it, holding this item in your hands, and get the full drop. In this case, the creature will turn into a cub, and you’ll need to feed it again so that it becomes an adult. This is how you can now save the lives of any creatures in the game, collecting valuable materials from them at the same time.

Many players immediately get access to numerous opportunities, such as:

· You can create several pens, where you’ll collect only what is collected without killing animals, for example, wool or milk, and in other pens you’ll reap, turning all mobs into cubs;

· The possibility to use the reaping in the distributor. Thanks to these mechanics, you can even automate this process without participating in it at all. You’ll only need to prepare a few tools with plenty to spare for the entire system to function;

· Saving the lives of mobs. They’ll stay alive. But even though you won’t kill animals in the game, some of them may disappear automatically due to map restrictions or chunks, as the abundance of mobs can causes severe lags;

· Automatic cattle breeding. We’ve already prepared a detailed review of the More Feeding Through Variations mod, which adds feeders to Minecraft. You can install them in Minecraft so that your cubs will eat and grow faster after you used the reaping;

· The number of animals won’t decrease. Unlike before, when you had to wait for others to be grown every time you killed a mob, now you won’t have to do this, since you always have the same number of creatures by default. If spawning of the creatures isn’t limited, then their number will only grow exponentially.

As you can see, you can fully automate the entire process, for which you have plenty of different tools and mods. After installing the Reaping mod, several reaping types are added in Minecraft, whose only difference is the chance of success. For example, the simplest option (iron) has the highest chance of killing an animal when using this tool. If the player crafts a Netherite scythe, the chances will be by times lower. Moreover, you can even enchant the item, for example, with «Durability» or «Restoration», so that it restores faster.

You can see the crafting of the new item in the screenshots we’ve posted in this article. It’s cheap, but you’ll have to spend some valuable material to make a Netherite version. But it compensates for the loss of animals, which are so important to the player. This aren’t the vanilla mechanics, and it’s far from the «real-life conditions», so this option definitely won’t suit fans of realistic Minecraft. The rest of the players can install the Reaping mod and use all its features to loot animals quickly and keep everyone alive!

As a result, we get a cool mod that adds unique functions to the game. Despite the relatively small number of downloads (about 260 thousand), the Reaping mod is found in different builds from time to time, as it adds interesting mechanics to the game. Try it and be sure to write in the comments what types of reaping you use, how many mobs you managed to save, and whether you create automatic farms in the game, allowing you to automate all these operations without your personal participation.
