Primitive Potions – New types of potions in Minecraft

Like to brew potions in Minecraft? Always take bottles on any trip, to mines, or when fighting bosses? A true potion brewer of the cubic world has a large inventory of potions, but the game’s standard functions don’t allow you to expand. Indeed, you could come up with new effects, especially in new locations when fighting a variety of mobs. Mojang developers keep adding different creatures and biomes, but potions have remained as they were in one of the earliest Minecraft versions. The Primitive Potions mod will add 13 new effects to the game, which add more solidity, quick repair ability, photosynthesis, and many other «goodies», which you’ll certainly find useful for survival. However, we have to disappoint you a bit right away: in addition to positive effects, you’ll get negative ones, because they can be used against you. But you’ll also be able to throw  potions at players or mobs so that they take damage from these effects. Sounds cool, doesn’t it?

The developer of this mod has done his best to make potions and effects as resembling the vanilla survival style as possible, without unbalancing the game. And he succeeded. The Primitive Potions mod totally adds 13 different effects: 8 positive and 5 negative. You can use these potions in different types, both their explosive and common types. The crafting procedure is unique for each potion, and we’ve tried to post as many screenshots as possible so that you remember the recipes. But you can always use the JEI mod in your Minecraft version to quickly check all the recipes.

Positive effects of the potions

· Reaching – increases the basic characteristics of the render distance by 3 levels for each potion level;

· Solidity – increases the basic characteristics of resistance to throwing by around 3 for each potion level. Very useful in battles and when moving through mountainous areas;

· Iron Skin – increases the base armor characteristics by 3 points, requiring 1 potion. According to the mod developer, even if you don’t wear any armor, you’ll still get 3 additional armor points;

· Diamond Skin – a unique effect that gives you an extra bonus to the solidity of the armor you are wearing at the moment. For example, if you take damage, it will be a few points less;

· Repairing – any armor the player is wearing, as well as any items they’re holding, will automatically restore 3 durability points at a certain speed. A very useful thing, especially when you need to repair items in a mine quickly or the character’s Elytras break when flying above the End;

· Photosynthesis– physics came in handy here, and the developer decided to use its laws to make a small potion. This effect will restore 1 point of your saturation (hunger) if you are in the Overworld at the moment and can see the sky above;

· Revival – if the player dies having this effect, they restore 3 hearts of health, which actually saves their life. A great and useful potion when you travel around the Nether, fight a dragon or other bosses in Minecraft;

· Cure – instantly clears you or any other object of all the negative effects and disappears thereafter. But it only works with standard effects and doesn’t support their modified versions.

There are many positive effects, which are useful in any survival mode, whether you are a common miner, a PvP or a PvE player who fights with players and mobs all the time. These potions will also be useful for farmers, travelers, builders, creators of various types of farms, and many other categories of players. But now it’s time to move on to the negative potion category, which the Primitive Potions mod also includes.

Negative effects of the potions

· Corrosion – any armor the player is wearing, as well as any items they’re holding, will automatically lose 3 durability points at a certain speed. This effect can be applied to players, mobs, and other creatures in the game;

· Drowning – if the player wasn’t above the water when the effect was applied, the user takes damage from drowning. However, when underwater the player doesn’t lose oxygen and can swim for a while. Again, you can use it against different mobs when you are looking for sponges, underwater castles, and many other game locations;

· Combustion – at a certain point, the player is simply combusted for a couple of seconds, which keeps happening at an increasing speed. You can use these potions against players, mobs, and other creatures in Minecraft;

· Dispel – instantly removes all the positive effects applied to the player at the moment. Thereafter, the potion effect also disappears. Extremely effective in PvP battles against players who use different types of potions to gain extra benefits. One such bottle removes all the bonuses from your opponent. But keep in mind that this potion can also be used against you;

· Confusion – an unusual Minecraft potion that mixes all the items in your inventory up, including the ones in the quick access cells. The armor is the only exception, so don’t worry that you’ll be deprived of your protective set.

In the game, negative potions aren’t so terrible, although there are very useful substances that provide players with an advantage in battles or, vice versa, take away and cancel their enemy’s advantages. In general, it’s an interesting mod that is being developed and updated by the developer. If you think that you don’t have enough potions in Minecraft that don’t significantly unbalance the vanilla style of the game, be sure to download the Primitive Potions mod and try playing with this potion set.

All the potions have different duration times, and you can enhance most of them using glowstone dust, red dust, gold nuggets, and other types of ingredients. You can also craft explosive potions to throw them at players or mobs. Don’t forget that the Minecraft universe contains different devices and logic circuits that can automatically scatter potions and apply effects, such as using distributors and other devices.
