Minecraft attracts players not only with its endless worlds or crafting but also with its quite pleasant graphics. Yes, it's cubic, and at first, it seems too "primitive," but over time, you get used to it. However, for this project, external expansions are constantly emerging, allowing anyone to improve the quality of graphics and effects. These can be shaders or standalone mods. And if you don't like how different weather conditions look in Minecraft, you might want to check out the mod we're talking about in this article, as it adds many useful effects and improves the overall visual quality.
The Pretty Rain addon will replace the default weather conditions in the game and add more colorful particles for rain, snow, and sandstorms, so the game will visually transform at these moments. If a player is also recording videos, for example, for YouTube, they will definitely notice all the new features. This addon has nearly a million downloads on one of the modding websites, and if you haven't played with this addon yet, now is the time to check out our review, where we not only describe but also visually show you the effects added to the game world.
The vanilla version of Minecraft has too basic and primitive weather effects. And often, players try to change them by installing various types of shaders that can heavily load the computer and reduce performance. If that doesn't suit you, the best option is to install a standalone mod to modify weather effects in the game. This addon includes many changes that you should know about:
· Improved rain particles appear in the game, now at a diagonal angle. When a storm starts, these effects are most visible in the game world;
· In snowy biomes, the animation for snowfall will change. The snowflakes are larger and slightly swirl, depending on wind intensity. Additionally, there will be different snowflake (flake) sizes;
· Sandstorms have received significant changes and now look much more impressive in the game, even though you might not have noticed them in the vanilla version of Minecraft. For example, bushes and dust will blow through the entire biome, and all these particles are clearly visible on the screen;
· The color of the rain will change depending on the biome where the weather conditions have changed. For example, in the jungle biome, it will be greenish, and in the cherry blossom biome, it will be slightly pinkish;
· Every time raindrops hit the water, a small ripple appears, so it's immediately clear where it's raining. Additionally, the Pretty Rain mod's developer added this mechanic so that the resolution matches your texture pack in the game;
· Water now flows down glass and other blocks due to gravity. You can sit by the window and see the raindrops moving down;
· Ground fog is another interesting feature added in this mod. It will now frequently appear in humid biomes and be located slightly above the ground blocks. However, it generates relative to sea level;
· A full fog effect also appears in the game, which can occur in snowy biomes, forests, and if a player enters such a storm, they may not see several blocks ahead of them.
In the Pretty Rain modification, every player can customize most effects using the flexible parameter system in the launcher. You just need to go to the corresponding menu item in the launcher, where you can fine-tune the particles for each effect, enable or disable certain parameters, and much more. But if you don’t understand how the whole system works, you can leave the default settings, which are applied automatically after adding the mod to the game build. There are plenty of options so that every player can adjust everything to their liking and select the best weather effects.
We've added plenty of screenshots to showcase how this mod works, but it's hard to show on pictures how raindrops change, ripples appear in the water, and fog forms in certain biomes. So, it's better to install this addon in your game build and see the new options for yourself. We recommend creating a map in creative mode right away and using the /weather command to change the weather in the game and see what changes. Don't forget that effects can vary in different biomes, such as rain color, droplets, and specific particles.
Overall, this is a very interesting and multifunctional mod that adds useful functionality to the game and a lot of parameters. You'll constantly need to explore new biomes and locations, both in the vanilla version of Minecraft and in external mods. Therefore, having this mod will help improve the visual quality and gameplay. If you encounter any issues after manual adjustments, simply remove the mod and re-download it to set the default parameters, which are suitable for 99% of all game launchers.
