Review Hostile Humans

Hostile Humans – Live NPCs in the Game

The vanilla world of Minecraft is full of different mobs and creatures, but the user is bored to play in a single-player mode, especially when they are trying to create a full-fledged town or a small settlement, a village. You can visit the village, upgrade each villager, assign certain professions to them, but they will do their routine work and don’t interact with you in any way. The Hostile Humans mod is another thing – it adds a large number of different NPC residents to the game, who live their lives and will attack you as soon as they see you.

And the most interesting thing is that this mod adds about 10 different types of hostile NPCs, which significantly expands the capabilities and mechanics of the game, so even in a single-player mode you can feel the bustling life, see different characters are running, fighting with each other, trying to build something, and so on. We’ve done our best to make a detailed review of the Hostile Humans mod, also adding detailed screenshots for you to make it clear what the advantages and features of the mod are, what functions it adds, and how new NPCs generally look like in the game world.

The Hostile Humans Mod Review

The main task of the mod is to diversify the Minecraft gameplay and add a few warring factions that will be willing to attack the player as soon as they see them. They differ from each other, have various textures, appearance, equipment, and spawn in almost any biome. If you play in the admin mode, then the NPCs won’t touch you, but as soon as you switch back to the survival mode, the character will start attacking you right away, delivering powerful hits with their weapon. The local AI is pretty good, which allows the NPCs to kill numerous mobs and players face-to-face or in a group.

New races spawn as a group or by one character at a time. They appear in different buildings. These can be both small houses and huge castle bases, where numerous NPCs will spawn. It will be hard to attack these bases alone, since all the defenders immediately unite and cause damage to your character. But it’s worth a try, because inside, you can find a lot of valuable loot in chests, stoves and other storages places available in Minecraft. All houses are generated in such a way as if they had been built by the player: there are beds, stoves, workbenches, chests, and many other important element. Besides, you can often find resources in the stoves too.

In the chests, you can find armor, valuable materials (gold, iron, and diamonds), tools, weapons, and much more. In general, there are a lot of «freebies» for the player, but you’ll have to get it with sweat and blood, which is difficult to do alone. We recommend that you enchant a good set of armor if you are going to visit such locations in Minecraft. At least, you need a sword with «Sharpness» and «Fire Spell», and you should also enchant it with the «Pushing II» effect, which allows you to deal additional damage by throwing the characters. This, they won’t be able to approach you and overcome you with numbers.

Forts (fortresses)

Let’s take a look at a few different buildings generated in the Hostile Humans mod, so that you can understand how they differ, what their advantages and disadvantages are, what resources can be found here, and much more. The Fort – a small fortress, surrounded by walls on every side. You can only enter through the main gate, and usually this is the only entrance and exit, through which you can get inside. But keep in mind that the fort is surrounded by towers, and usually there are different characters with bows, crossbows, swords on them, who immediately attack the players as soon as they approach.

You can break the wall with a pickaxe and get inside, but there are also a lot of NPCs controlling the inner territory. They have different looks, armor, weapons, and various items in the inventory. Some may have enchanted diamond armor, others have enchanted iron armor, but most of the characters are dressed in something, and this is the main feature of this mod. The system automatically generates NPCs, so it’s impossible to predict what a particular resident of the fortress will be wearing. This is a cool mechanic that allows you to diversify the gameplay of Minecraft, even if you play in a single-player mode and you have no friends or none of them can go online at the moment.

The fortress is not limited to the ground buildings. In fact, many locations are underground, as there is another level with many rooms. There, you’ll see guards’ beds, different types of vaults, chests, stoves, a potion maker’s room, and many other rooms with the characters. One fortress can host about 15-30 people, and they all communicate with each other. If you approach the fortress and start attacking one NPC, the others will join the process and fight you back, causing significant damage.

The local AI is not as «clumsy» as in many other similar mods. For example, if you attack a certain character inside, then only those residents will run who are in the same location. The NPCs on the towers will attack you with bows and crossbows without going down. Mostly they make accurate shots, and here you must use a shield to block most of the damage. By the way, most of them run with shields, so it’s much harder to kill them. Take more potions to restore health and food to restore satiety, and be sure to have a good set of armor.

Settlements and fortresses can be generated in any biome present in Minecraft, but you can use the admin mode to quickly teleport to any of the created structures. Almost every fort has its flags, distinctive features, and if two people from different fortresses meet, they will start fighting, which makes the mod and the gameplay in general more interesting. But this rarely happens, since all structures and fortresses are usually located far away from each other, even within the same biome. In total, about two dozen different types of houses and fortresses available, which look absolutely different.

Another important feature of the mod is its unique design and interior in every home. Here, you’ll see many pieces of furniture, paintings, chests and stoves, lamps, different types of parts and elements. Each house is a unique structure, both inside and outside, and it is very pleasant to play with such an add-on. You move around the map, and it seems as if these are players’ small houses on a large server, although you are actually alone on the map. You can play with friends by creating a separate world and providing access to it over the network. There are a lot of possibilities and gameplay opportunities, unique mechanics and elaborated architecture style, which makes this add-on even more interesting.

In general, we can say that the Hostile Humans mod is one of the most interesting add-ons for Minecraft, which allows you to fill the game with «life», some random events and characters. They live their lives, but as soon as they feel danger or see players nearby, they’ll immediately attack them. A wide selection of different buildings, various sets of armor, ranging from chain mail and up to diamond ones are also pleasing. All the loot that a character has will drop as soon as you kill this NPC, and this is another challenge for most of you, isn’t it?
