New Bleeding Mechanics

How do you restore health in Minecraft if an enemy or a mob wounded you? Usually, different types of food (bread, berries, cakes, and apples) or potions are used for this. This is an elaborate mechanic, but the Minecraft developers haven’t changed anything in it for a long time, although it’s high time to add something unique. With this purpose, there are many mods from third-party developers, where you can choose hundreds of types of food, new options (by the way, we recently made a review about the Awesome Magic mod for adding bottles of different sizes). And if you haven’t installed anything yet, then you should try the add-on, which we’ll tell you about in this review!

The First Aid mod is related to the «first aid» topic, adding a completely new health restoration mechanic to Minecraft. Now, you may be bleeding, and you’ll will have to use different types of bandages and new crafts to restore full HP. It will take some time to get used to the new health system, but this is a better-thought-out mechanic. Millions of users think the same, because First Aid has already been installed more than 18 million times! Just imagine how popular this mod is.

The new health mechanic offers several items for quickly restoring character’s HP. The old system from vanilla Minecraft was replaced, and now the body is divided into 8 parts by default. Each has its own invisible scale, for example, the head, legs, arms, and so on. Even if the player deletes the First Aid mod, this system will still remain, and you’ll need to change it in the configuration file or use the /gamerule naturalRegeneration true command. This is a very important point for those who wanted to just download the mod, test it, and delete.

If your character is injured, you can use bandages and plasters to treat him. These are real-life medical items that have been transferred to the vanilla Minecraft game world. Each new item gives certain advantages and can apply an effect. If you have just installed First Aid, then you should know what advantages it provides:

· Plaster – restores 1.5 health points and its cool down is 4 seconds. That is, you’ll need to spend about 30 seconds to quickly restore the entire health bar, which isn’t very effective if your character is in the middle of the battles right now;

· Bandage – restores 1 health point and regenerate in 12 seconds, so the full recovery time will be around 8 seconds. This is quite an effective item for quickly replenishing your character’s HPs, because it also removes the bleeding effect;

· Morphine – deletes all negative effects from your character. However, it will cast nausea and speed for a while. These are some kind of side effects when using morphine, like it actually is in real life for any patient. It completely restores HP in about 12 seconds and provides regeneration;

· Lime Plaster (another plaster type) – restores 2.5 health points per use. If your HP parameter is below 50%, then the healing process is twice faster. It also removes the bleeding effect, and the full recovery time will be around 4 seconds;

· Medical bag – a unique item in the mod, where you can carry different types of medical drugs to restore your character’s HP faster. There is also a certain storage level; you can put 64 units by default;

· First aid kit – the most important item in this mod, which allows you to use several medicines at once, quickly restoring the character’s health parameters.

Certain types of effects can be applied when players’ limbs are injured. For example, if you hurt your legs, a slowdown will be cast at this point, as the player is bleeding. The same can happen with blows to the head, when the blindness effect is applied to the player. At the same time, you can quickly remove all the debuffs by using morphine in Minecraft. Another important aspect is your armor protection. For example, if you have been hit on the legs, then only the leg protection parameter is taken into account, but not the entire set. This is an extremely important mechanic for any player who decides to play with the First Aid mod!

What can we conclude? When fighting, it’s now important to hit precisely at those places that give more bleeding or slow down your opponent, for example, blind him (a strike to the head), on the legs (moves slower), and so on. You should also keep in mind that the same tactics can be applied to you, but different types of medicines will help with this. They are cheap to craft: a thread, wool, and bottles are main ingredients, as well as slime sometimes. If you have a large first-aid kit, you can put other ready-made drugs into it.

Also consider what your opponent is wearing. For example, if a player has a sword, helmet and greaves, you should hit him in the chest to inflict as much damage as possible, since this particular part is less protected. Besides, there are also specialized mods for Minecraft, showing the total level of health, armor protection, and all enchanted effects.
