Review Engineer's Decor

Engineer’s Decor – Industrial Decor

Most of you know about Industrial Craft 2 that «pulls» behind a huge number of other add-ons and allows you to create multifunctional servers and entire complex projects based on energy, management, mechanization, and automation. In doing so, players often forget about the «appropriate atmosphere», which would also remind us of the industrial age. It would be cool, wouldn’t it?

Engineer’s Decor is exactly what you need. This mod adds a large number of items and blocks to the Minecraft game. They allow you to turn the standard «vanilla» Minecraft into an «industrial world», give it a special atmosphere, and visually change the entire cubic gameplay. There are not as many blocks as we would like if compared with Immersive Engineers. However, these blocks are enough to make a completely different picture appear in front of you.

Decor Elements

It is better to start the analysis of Engineer’s Decor with decor elements and leave the most «delicious» part for later. The developers have added many interesting blocks and items, thanks to which the world around you is transformed, but at the same time, the vanilla atmosphere of Minecraft remains the same.

What kind of blocks does this mod add?

· Clinker bricks;

  • Slag bricks;
  • Reinforced concrete;

· Hardened glass;

· Dark ceramic roof tiles;

· Dense grit sand;

· Dense grit dirt;

· Iron stairs and doors;

· Wooden types of furniture;

· Lights and lamps;

· Grates and steel poles, various types of steel items;

· Large selection of signs.

There are a lot of decor elements, thanks to which you can easily create different types of laboratories, factories, and industrial buildings: you can easily build some kind of Chernobyl or a cool factory from the USA or Taganrog. But to make it clear what forms and types of blocks you will get, we will analyze each decor element in detail.

Clinker Bricks

In terms of its structure, clinkers are a little darker than regular Minecraft bricks. They are juicier and have many more variations. If you install this mod, you can use clinkers to create the following types of blocks:

1. Regular bricks;

2. Slabs (regular and painted, vertical);

3. Brick steps;

4. Walls;

5. Mud clinker bricks;

6. Decorated with sandstone;

7. Recessed clinker bricks;

8. With a vertical cut.

There are a lot of options, and you can see the screenshots to find out how they look in the inventory, during construction. In general, the clinker impresses much not with its appearance but with different variations of blocks, from which you can create gorgeous buildings.

Slag Bricks

Slag bricks are gray and brown blocks that look very similar to both regular bricks and clinker bricks. However, they are unique and interesting to players in their own way. In real life, they do not look like slag bricks, but the texture is quite unusual. The block has the following options:

· Regular slag bricks;

  • Slabs;
  • Steps;
  • Walls.

They fit perfectly into the decor of most buildings, so they are used for both interior and exterior decoration.

Reinforced Concrete

We have a kind of construction plant with a large number of blocks, so reinforced concrete is also present. The block is made of steel and has the same level of explosiveness as obsidian. However, its crafting is more expensive: you need dry concrete and iron bars (you can craft them by combining a few burnt iron ingots).

The following blocks can be obtained from reinforced concrete:

· Regular reinforced concrete blocks;

  • Slabs;
  • Steps;
  • Walls;
  • Rebar.

Hardened Glass

Hardened glass is added not only for decoration but also to protect your buildings from creepers. In terms of composition, these blocks are approximately the same as obsidian and reinforced concrete. By the way, you also need iron bars to craft hardened glass.

Hardened glass is dark gray and, despite its appearance, can be positioned seamlessly, thus making the entire line of blocks look like a whole. Only two types of blocks are available: hardened glass and hardened glass slabs.

Dark Ceramic Tiles

As you understand from the name of the block, dark ceramic roof tiles are used to decorate the roof of your buildings. At the same time, it goes well with all other blocks of the Engineer’s Decor modification since the authors tried to create a single industrial style. You get the following types of blocks:

· Dark ceramic roof tiles and a trapdoor;

· Chimney pipe;

  • Chimney;

· Block of dark ceramic roof tiles;

  • Slabs;
  • Plates;
  • Conduit.

Using all these options, you can create almost any type of roof, be it pitched, hipped, or gable roofs, a roof with a cuckoo, domed options, and any others.

Chimney pipes, chimneys, and conduits are used to supply and exhaust energy just like in real life. So, you can design realistic buildings as if you were a real engineer.

Grit Blocks

The mod adds two more new blocks related to both the decor and the mechanics of Minecraft: dense grit sand and dense grit dirt.

· The dense grit sand is obtained by combining dirt, gravel, and sand.

· The dense grit dirt can be crafted by using dirt, cobblestone, and gravel.

Both of these blocks are intended to create different types of paths and regular soil. However, the grass will not grow on them, even if you put a grass block right next to a dirt block.

Industrial Wood Blocks and Items

Yes, in addition to regular wood, there is also industrial wood for creating various types of products. It is also added by Engineer’s Decor and has many uses. You can craft the following types of blocks and items:

· Old industrial wooden planks;

· Wooden slabs;

· Wooden steps;

  • Plates;
  • Doors;

· Treated wood table;

· Treated wood stool;

· Treated wood window sill;

· Wide treated wood window sill;

· Wooden window;

· Wooden pole;

· Straight treated wood pole.

Tables, stools, and chairs can be used both indoors and outdoors. They look great in gazebos, cafes, and other buildings. It’s up to you to decide how to apply these types of furniture.

Iron Blocks

There will be very few iron blocks and items.

  • Iron stairs– an industrial version of the stairs. It is similar to wooden stairs, only with a more interesting texture. They can be installed both inside and outside the building;
  • Wall-fixed metal steps are attached to the wall and used for lifting/lowering from different heights. They take up less space, but their crafting requires more iron bars than when crafting stairs;
  • Iron gateway– a very interesting construction that, for the most part, is intended for mines and hatches. Have you watched «Lost»? There is a typical gateway. Another advantage – unaffected by creeper explosions.

Steel Blocks and Items

Another great feature is the use of steel blocks and items. They have a pleasant appearance and high durability. Most items require a metal bar to craft.

As a result, you will be able to create the following steel items:

· Steel table;

· Steel floor grating;

· Framed window;

· Different types of steel poles;

· Steel supports;

· Steel fences and gates;

· Railings, bridges, and stairs.

Steel can be crafted in Engineer’s Decor to create the most variety of items that complement the industrial style. You can use these items to colorfully decorate the interior of various premises, and create warehouses, farms, factories, and locations like in Half-Life.

Signs

One of the features of this mod is the ability to craft and install warning signs. In addition to all the previously described decorative blocks, signs are a special feature of Engineer’s Decor. You can install them at the entrance, on different floors, and near the road. There are such options as, for example: «Danger», «Hot Surface», «Frost», and many others.

It’s much easier to decorate your factory or any other location using signs. You can create cool maps for players, make a whole city on the server, and hold events for your audience.

Multifunction Devices

We move on to the most interesting part of this mod. In addition to the decor, you can also get cool devices and mechanisms that can help you simplify the process of extracting resources, optimize some of the routine tasks, and automate some logical chains. At the time of writing, 19 new items are available to you. Each of them has its own unique features and purpose.

Framed Chest

If you are tired of the standard chests for storing resources, craft a framed chest that differs in its appearance and has one distinctive feature: you can frame the item that will show what’s inside the chest. Now you don’t have to resort to Minecraft live hacks and attach a separate frame to your chest.

This chest has 54 storage slots (6*9). The block that shows what’s inside the chest is installed in the same interface where all the items are stored. It looks very cool since it does not take up the entire surface.

Treated Wood Workbench

It is a cool workbench that not only looks different but also offers a more versatile resource storage option. Yes, you can use the treated wood workbench both to craft items and store them in its 18 cells (9*2).

It also has a unique craft memorization system. Since all crafting is carried out through the workbench, it automatically remembers the recipes. Thus, if you want to avoid adding items manually, you just need to use the saved recipe and create an item with one click. It works with items from Engineer’s Decor and other add-ons.

Compact Lab Furnace

It is a more versatile version of the standard furnace that smelts resources much faster. It runs on solid fuel. There are three slots for smelting items (two for storage + one for direct smelting). There are also three solid fuel slots (two for storage + one for burning fuel).

Your items are transported to 3 slots where they are stored (1 slot where your items go after smelting, and 2 more reserved). When moving, the furnace can keep all the items inside: you can break the furnace, take it with you on a hike, put it wherever you like, and continue smelting from the same place. You can increase the smelting speed by using a heater from the Immersive Engineering mod.

Compact Conveyor Electric Furnace

This type of furnace is made from a metal bar and is considered more efficient than the other options described earlier. It allows you to automatically accept items using hoppers, process them, and put them in your inventory. Players can use the same items to put items in or take them out from any side of the block, whether they are processed or not.

Even if an item that cannot be smelted gets into the slots, the conveyor furnace easily shifts it from one cell to another and the process continues. According to the developers, this version of the mechanism will fit perfectly into the conveyor belt if you have your own factory or some kind of automated process for smelting and transporting resources.

Factory Dropper

The factory dropper is designed to automate the movement of items. It has its unique GUI interface and settings for each item. It allows you to automatically choose which items to move and at what angle to drop them, as well as set the drop-down stack size, and many other options.

This mechanism has 12 slots, each of which allows you to store resources. There are 3 hoppers for transportation, where you can also configure the drop force, set the logical «AND», «OR» to select only those resources that you need. In general, it is not difficult to deal with it.

Factory Block Placer

The factory block placer is designed to automatically place blocks and grow various types of plants, trees, and blocks. This device can automate the process of growing and harvesting trees. It has 18 cells (9*3), and its structure is in many ways similar to the dropper from the same mod.

When interacting with this block, you can configure its GUI interface settings to add redstone triggers, see signal indicators, and use other important features. It is a great device for those who understand Minecraft schemes.

Factory Block Breaker

It is another item from the «factory» category. However, its purpose is the opposite of the placer: the system will automatically break the blocks standing in front of it. You can use it to create your own automatic wood farms, where the whole process will take place without your participation: the tree grows – the system breaks it, and the corresponding mechanisms collect it all in boxes and chests.

Factory Hopper

Factory hoppers differ from the standard ones, allowing you to fine-tune the intensity with which items will move, as well as to choose stacks and radius, thus allowing you to transfer items into and out of containers. As a result, the automation of the process in Minecraft resembles the conditions of real factories, where most of the collection and transportation of items takes place without human intervention. In their structure, all these factory mechanisms are similar to Factorio technologies.

Compact Waste Incinerator

You can use the incinerator to quickly dispose of items you don’t need. It has 14 cells in the form of a ladder, where items move from one place to another, approaching the lava source. As soon as all the cells are occupied, the last item automatically falls into the lava and burns. The process can be automated using hoppers, and all your unnecessary items will be destroyed. It runs faster when powered up, although no power is required by default. By the way, it is a cool alternative to redstone trash cans.

Small Mineral Smelter

It is a cool device that allows you to automatically turn mineral blocks (various types of stones, sand) into magma and lava. If you turn on the cooling system, the blocks will turn into obsidian. As a result, you have a full-fledged factory of magma, lava, and obsidian. It’s up to you to decide what exactly to produce and in what quantity. Use pipes to transfer and move items.

Small Water Freezer

It is a kind of «icemaker» that allows you to get regular ice, blue ice, and dense ice in Minecraft. All you need to do is to supply water. It will be possible to determine the state of ice using a comparator, and experts will be able to do this in a couple of clicks. The small water freezer works in both manual and automatic modes, so you can move all the received blocks using transport pipes.

Small Solar Panel

If you don’t have energy and you don’t even have the Immersive Engineering mod installed, you can get energy using the small solar panels offered as a standard feature in Engineer’s Decor. It produces a small amount of energy, automatically tilts to the place where the sun shines, and allows you to interact with other mechanisms. No energy is collected at night, and the amount of energy is reduced on rainy days.

Small Milking Machine

Even milk production in Minecraft can be automated, and the developers of the add-on have added a small milking machine. It has an internal tank that collects milk. Cows approach it on their own, so you won’t be able to get 100% of milk. If you install a large number of milking machines around the paddock, the percentage of collected milk will increase significantly.

The milking machines can operate both in semi-automatic mode, collecting and storing milk inside tanks, and in automatic mode, moving all the milk through pipes to warehouses. Each mechanism has a visual outline, where you can see when the milking machine is full: if the label is white, it is full, and if it is black – there is still a free place.

Small Lumberjack

It is a universal mechanism for cutting trees. It only cuts down the trees standing in front of it. So, when creating an automated farm, it is important to consider in which direction you place the block and where the trees are planted. It does not collect chopped blocks. However, you can use hoppers to move loot to other blocks. It supports the Dynamic Trees mod.

Single Fluid Valve

The valve is used to move fluid in one direction. The valve can only be connected with both ends, and there are no separate branches on the sides. Use SHIFT to change the direction if needed. At the same time, the channel bandwidth is low.

Redstone Controlled Fluid Valve

It is about the same option as the single-channel valve. However, here you can stop the flow of fluid using a red signal, especially if you have several paths and need to control them at intervals.

Redstone Analog Fluid Valve

This version of the valve is different from the previous one, although it can also be used for automation. If it does not have a redstone signal, it does not allow fluid to pass through and can also choose how much flow to supply it with: from 1 to 15. All this is controlled by the intensity of the redstone signal.

Fluid Barrel

It is a simple barrel for storing fluids, which is also added by the Engineer’s Decor mod. It allows you to store up to 12000 mB, has a built-in pressure gauge, and can drain the fluid by default from the bottom side, but can also be connected from other sides. You need a standard barrel and 8 iron bars for crafting it.

Small Fluid Hopper

The hopper can be used to collect liquids above it. There is a built-in tank for three buckets. At the same time, the internal system of the block monitors the flowing fluids to the nearest blocks. Fluid can be obtained in this block by using pumping systems or a bucket.

These are all the blocks and items currently available in the Engineer’s Decor mod. We tried to describe each item and publish all crafting options so that you do not experience any problems when interacting with the add-on. Those who like to automate processes should additionally install the Immersive Engineering mod, which adds a huge number of different tools and devices that are similar to Factorio technologies in their functionality.
