Review Cave Rats

Cave Rats – rats in caves

How do you feel about rats? If they don’t make you fear, and you’ve long wanted to expand the mob list in Minecraft, pay attention to the Cave Rats add-on, which adds several types of rats to the game. They have different characteristics, spawn in random places, and various effects and loot may fall out after you killed the mobs, which will be useful to you. The Cave Rats mod doesn’t introduce any serious changes to the game, but it diversifies your familiar gameplay and allows you to collect new loot, which you can use to craft common items and components.

There are no rats or mice in the vanilla version of Minecraft, and you could only find bats in caves before. Now, the mines will be more diverse in terms of living creatures, and you must be ready for them. We’ve done our best to take as many screenshots as possible to show you how rats differ, what their advantages and disadvantages are, as well as what loot can you get from the animals if you keep killing them.

The Cave Rats mod review

As we’ve mentioned at the beginning of the article, after installing the mod in Minecraft, 4 different types of rats will be available. They look almost the same in size but have different characteristics and shades. Well, let’s look at each of them one by one…

An common cave rat. It appears on blocks from 0 to 70 on the Y axis and has 12 health points. Deals 3 damage to the player, moves at 3.5 speed. If you kill the mob, you get 4 experience points. It looks like a gray, standard rat, slightly resembling a mouse.

Deep-water cave rat. This version of the mob will spawn at a height below 0 on the Y axis and has a different look. It’s darker and sometimes even merges with many blocks in a cave. If you visit these locations in the dark, you can quickly die, as they easily attack in packs, taking all the player’s HPs. It has 22 health points, deals as many as 5 damage points, and has a speed of 4.5. If you kill the mob, you will get 10 experience points.

Mossy cave rat. This version of the creatures mainly spawns in the Lush Caves, which is cool, since this biome is worth developing, but the Mojang developers haven’t done this for a long time. That is why there are various third-party mods that expand the location functionality. The rat stands out for its look (a dark green shade that hides it in the grass, fully merging with the general background). The animal has 20 health points, deals 2 damage points, and its speed is 2.5. If you kill it, you’ll get 6 experience points.

Drip cave rat. The last version of mobs in the game added by the Cave Rats mod, which spawn in drip caves. An interesting look, an unusual pinkish-brown shade. The weakest in terms of health parameters, as it has 8 health points, deals 5 damage points, and has a speed of 3.5. If you kill the mob, you get 7 experience points.

As you can see, their parameters and look are almost similar. They live in different biomes and at different heights, so you can find some kind of rat in almost any biome. There will be many of them, and the player will have to carry torches more often. However, we recommend installing the Lucent mod, which adds dynamic lighting and pleasant effects to Minecraft. These mobs move pretty fast even at the lowest movement speed.

When killing the mob, the player gets a drop: usually it’s rat meat and fur. You can make leather or ropes from the fur, and this is another option for getting resources that you need for further crafting. Meat can restore your hunger, but with a 75% probability you get one negative effect after use. We recommend cooking it in any of the ovens to reduce the number of possible negative effects. As for the rest, simple mechanics, standard spawn.

The Cave Rats mod expands the list of mobs, adds them to different biomes, revives locations that used to have few creatures, and if you want to make Minecraft more real, then this mod is a perfect solution to this problem. The add-on has about 320 thousand downloads, uses Forge as a loader, and if you want a high-quality and valuable mod, be sure to add this option to your assembly.
