Aquatic Craft is a global mod related to the aquatic world. It will add two elaborate water dimensions to the game. They are fully adapted for full-fledged survival, so you will not have to return to the surface. Besides the two new dimensions, the mod will add a huge amount of armor, tools, blocks, food, mobs, and even bosses.
It is very easy to get to the new dimension — it is enough just to craft one block, which will serve as a portal. The only hard-to-get ingredient for this block is the heart of the sea. Having crafted this block portal, you will just have to put it in any convenient place and click the RMB. By the way, you will thereby earn your first achievement in this mod.
Besides the usual aquatic dimension, there is its dark alternative called dark depths. To get there, you need to do the same actions — that is, create a similar block and click the RMB on it. However, in fact, it will not be possible to craft such a portal.
The new aquatic dimension includes several unique biomes. These are Tranquil Archipelago, Commonwaters, Kelp Forest, Bright Reef, Sea Mount, Algid Brine, Thermal Ridge, Unrelenting Expanse, and Abyssal Depths. All these biomes are easily distinguishable, and you will have to visit them in the course of your survival in the new water dimension. All of these biomes, or rather the entire dimension, has a certain drawback in the form of clouds. They should be turned off, as they flow very low and will probably bother you on the surface. Indeed, you will initially spawn on a small island, most often consisting of ice or sand. So, besides constantly interfering clouds, you will see only the endless ocean and rare islands around. However, this time, your goals are under the water, not on the surface.
The mod adds as many as ten biomes to the game. Each of them has salient features. These can be water color, depth, islands, or other characteristic differences.
Perhaps you will be lucky enough to spawn either nearby or directly on a stone archipelago. Stone archipelagos are quite rare but very useful in terms of resources, as it is there that you can easily mine several new ores. The archipelago consists of hardened water stones. The water depth nearby is small, which is quite logical, given it is dry land. It is there that iron, gold, diamond, and other new ores can be found directly on the surface.
Another archipelago and the only place where you can find usual wood is the tranquil archipelago. It is basically ordinary islands consisting of grass, sand, and trees. The water nearby has a shallow depth and a very transparent appearance. Unfortunately, the islands are not that large and are quite rare.
The next biome, called the kelp forest, is, in contrast, quite unusual but widespread. Its salient feature is the green water, which has become so due to the excessive amount of green vegetation and the average depth. This biome is not particularly remarkable, though, and the animals there are relatively passive. The kelp itself grows on a new block called the kelp gravel. However, you should still be careful when swimming in the water, as you can come across poisonous kelp located on the water's surface. It can only be detected from under the water — all because its texture merges with the color of the water. Having touched such kelp, you will predictably get the temporary Poison effect.
One of the most dangerous biomes of the new aquatic dimension is the commonwaters or hot waters. You will not be able to swim there without special equipment, as the water there is very hot and kills you as effectively as lava does. Besides the dangerous water, you will find a lot of hostile animals there, which will try to kill any uninvited guests. The bottom of the commonwaters consists of red sand and a new block called hardened quartz cobblestone. The latter is safe when it is separated from the water. Underwater, you will also find magma bubbling columns that will easily suck you into themselves due to the high pressure. On the surface of the hot waters, you can see small pumice blocks on which you can feel safe. Besides the constant dangers, the biome is characterized by brown, barely transparent water and a brown sky, which clearly indicates the presence of heat. This biome is quite frequently found.
The algid brine is the opposite of the above biome and is also quite common. However, unlike the hot water, the cold water itself is not that dangerous and does not cause any damage. It just slows down the player because of its temperature, imposing the Slowness II effect while they are in it. You can also resist the cold water with the help of armor. Moreover, you can also encounter giant dangerous sea creatures which live there because of oxygen saturation. The biome is characterized by the water of a bright and rich blue color, as well as ice.
Another very common biome is the bright reef. The depth there is shallow, and the water is very clear. As you might have guessed, this biome is an alternative version of the vanilla coral reefs. The bottom there consists of sand with various corals, sea grass, sea cucumbers, and similar plants growing on it. Dolphins and small sharks can be often noticed near such biomes.
The abyssal depths are one of the most sinister and dangerous biomes. It is easily distinguishable thanks to the water's color and depth. The former significantly contrasts with the water's color of any other biome, including the algid brine. The water in such a biome is dark blue and slightly transparent. The depth can reach up to 100 meters and sometimes even more. Since the mod introduces special pressure mechanics, diving into the abyssal depths without proper protection, you will simply go blind because of the pressure. The pressure will be felt at a depth of 30+ blocks, so you should not dive below this level. Besides going blind, you will quickly lose health. To protect yourself from the pressure, you need to put on an armor with an efficiency of more than five points.
The mod can boast quite a significant number of new armor, tools, and weapons — as many as 15 types. Each set is crafted from a particular material. And a full armor set imposes unique effects on the player that contribute to survival in the water.
The first new armor type is the turtle armor. Its set is not complete, as it lacks a helmet. It is the only armor set that does not impose any effects, but it still ensures good protection. This armor is crafted from the vanilla scutes.
The pumice armor is weak in terms of characteristics but features a nice effect. The fact is that you will not drown in it. So you will have to hold down the SHIFT button to go underwater. This armor is crafted from planks and the new pumice block.
The algid armor has good defense characteristics. It is with it that you will be able to swim in icy water without getting any negative effects. Besides, using this armor, your character will get a trail of ice.
Having put on the thermal armor, you will be able to easily explore the commonwaters. All because it will protect you from the hot water. Besides, you will be followed by a trail of smoke.
Since some of your characteristics are significantly reduced underwater, it is certainly worth crafting the aquamarine armor. It will impose the Haste III effect on you underwater. Even so, the speed there will be less than on land.
As the name suggests, with the help of this armor, you will be able to explore the abyssal depths without suffering any negative effects. However, using this armor on land, you will not be able to normally see and move, as the Blindness and Slowness effects will be imposed on you. This armor is slightly better than the diamond one and also imposes the Resistance effect. But its most useful effect is Respiration.
The murexium armor is slightly weaker than the depths armor, but it imposes nice effects related to the resource extraction on the player. Thus, the full set of such armor imposes the Conduit Power, Luck III, and Haste II effects underwater.
The eidolite armor is less effective than the previous two. Its sole effect is the Conduit Power.
The scallop armor can boast good characteristics and also imposes several positive effects if you put the full set thereof: the Conduit Power II, Jump Boost III, Speed II, and Resistance III.
This armor cannot boast particularly good characteristics, but its full set imposes the Dolphin's Grace effect on the player.
These are similar armor types that also impose the Dolphin's Grace effect but, in contrast to the usual sharkskin armor, have more advanced characteristics.
The last three armor types have improved versions. They differ from the standard ones in that they impose the additional Glowing effect.
The best new armor in terms of characteristics is the archaic armor. It is several times better than the diamond one and also imposes the Conduit Power III effect underwater. Besides, having put this armor on, you will be able to survive in the depths.
This mod adds a huge number of mobs (80+) to the game, along with several bosses.
The first frequently encountered mob to consider is the thresher shark. It can be found in almost all the biomes. This mob is not aggressive by default, but it will attack if provoked. The shark's damage level is quite significant — about 5–6 points. Besides the basic damage, it imposes the Blood Loss effect on a victim. The thresher shark hunts cod. After death, it drops a lot of useful things — raw fish, raw cod, raw clown fish, shark skin, and shark tooth.
The manta ray is another new mob that can be encountered along with the sharks. This mob is completely passive. So even if you hit it, it will not attack you. This mob can boast quite a large number of health points. After death, its drops shark skin, shrimp, raw meat, and prismarine shards.
The next frequently found mob is the lancetfish. It lives in the same biomes as the manta rays and sharks. This mob is aggressive by default, and you will hardly be able to swim away from it in the water without special effects. It inflicts about the same amount of damage as the shark and also imposes the Blood Loss effect on a target. This effect lasts five seconds. The mob has a small number of health points, so it is easy to defeat this aggressive fish. After death, it drops meat, the fin, and raw cod.
The bigger squids live in the same places as the manta rays, sharks, and lancetfish, but at the bottom. These mobs are aggressive and will attack you as soon as they see you. Besides significant damage, you will get the Pulled Down effect, which makes you slow in the water. Because of this, it becomes much more difficult to escape from a bigger squid. After death, it drops meat and an ink sac.
Besides the new mobs, the mod adds such vanilla underwater mobs as turtles, dolphins, and cod to the new dimension.
The next new mob and one of the largest underwater inhabitants is the stonewall fish. It has a significant size but is not aggressive. So it will fight back only if you attack it. But if you accidentally hit it, prepare for a possible loss. Since this mob has a huge damage level and a lot of health, it is not that easy to defeat it. It spawns quite rarely and mainly in the deep biomes. After death, it drops its stone skin, hardened iron ore, pumice, meat, and a special tool called the devouring shovel. The latter cannot be crafted and imposes the Haste IV effect on the player.
On land, you can meet aggressive but basically harmless hermit crabs. However, if there are too many of them, they can pose a threat. After death, they drop their meat.
The commonwaters are a habitat of a huge number of thermal spider crabs. They are not aggressive unless you attack first. These crabs are basically not dangerous since they inflict only minor damage and have a small number of health points. After death, they drop magma rock fragments, salmon, thermal powder, meat, and giant crab legs.
In ordinary waters, you can also find spider crabs. They have red skin, a small number of health points, and quite a friendly character. There is a small chance that it will drop a giant crab leg after death.
These same spider crabs also live in the algid waters. It has the same characteristics and features. After death, they drop meat, giant crab legs, and ice stone fragments.
You can also rarely encounter the giant reef shark. It is passive by default, and it is better to leave it in such a condition, as it can boast a huge size, large number of health points, and great damage level. Moreover, for unknown reasons, its attack range is so great that you will not have time even to swim up to it. Perhaps this is a bug that the developer overlooked. But if you still manage to kill this shark, you will obtain a large number of valuable resources. They include a lot of meat, the heart of the sea, the infested organ, shark skin, lapis lazuli, the algid powder, and the meat of crabs that it has probably eaten.
You can often meet ordinary sailfish. It is a fast, agile, and peaceful fish. It does not pose a particular danger since it has a small health stock and low damage level. After death, it drops the fin and fish meat.
As the name suggests, the algid stingray lives in the algid brine. However, it can swim to other biomes. This mob is initially passive, but even if you hit it, it will not pose a particular threat to an armed player due to its low damage level and small health stock. However, it also imposes the Slowness III effect. After death, it drops ice stone fragments and fish meat.
Besides the basic dimension, which is more or less peaceful, the mod features a sinister dimension called the dark depths. It is there that you can find the main boss of this mod. There is only one biome there, which is a kind of aquatic Nether. It is better not to go there without a good armor, as dangers will await you there at every step. The water there is poisoned and imposes the Poison and Blindness effects on the unprotected player. Besides, you will suffer from pressure. Absolutely everything in that world will try to destroy you.
The only safe place there is the initial spawn point. It is a small piece of land under which the main boss lives. It is, of course, underwater. The boss can boast a huge number of health points, so it is not an easy task to overcome it.
