The Betweenlands – a new dimension mod

The Betweenlands mod adds special items, various types of weapons and tools, and most importantly, a whole new dimension – the swamp-like lands where you can meet new creatures, plants, and other interesting things .

When you enter the game, the main screen changes to an eerie swamp with a gloomy forest.

To get to this dimension, you need to create a swamp talisman, for which you need to find an altar located in the swamp biome. To craft the swamp talisman, you need 4 of its parts, which must be placed on the altar. After that, the talisman will appear. The talisman parts can be obtained from dark druids, but you should be careful since their spawner is under the altar. Each dark druid has 50 health points, which makes them difficult to kill. If a druid hits you, you will fly up 10-20 blocks. Its damage is 5 units.

The process of making the swamp talisman fascinates with its beauty: all the knowledge from the runestones begins to move to the altar to be absorbed by the talisman. This miracle lasts for several seconds.

To open up a portal, you need to find any tree sapling and activate it using the swamp talisman. Finally, you get a large portal tree, which is the portal to the Betweenlands. When you enter the portal, a similar tree appears in another dimension.

There is no time here. The sky is always covered with clouds that look similar to water. However, there is a small hole, through which you can see the regular world. You can use this hole to determine what time of day it is.

The dimension is composed of small islands that have their names. The Swamplands are regularly covered with dense fog, which makes you see almost nothing. You shouldn’t bring food or potions from other dimensions. The food becomes rotted, and the potion spoils. If you drink a spoiled potion, you will get poisoned. However, here you can eat the following foods: candies dropped by mobs, Christmas puddings, crab sticks (crafted with 3 crab claws), and meat of various animals, such as frog legs.

While existing in the Betweenlands, all creatures begin to slowly decay. The decay bar is represented as a line of sap balls, which are obtained from trees.

The Betweenlands are inhabited by a variety of creatures, including passive, neutral, and aggressive ones. Passive mobs include fireflies that fly and give the world a piece of light, Dragonflies that you can see in the sky, and mire snails that can be bred. Besides, there are frogs, sporelings, and many others.

There are only two neutral mobs: lurkers and pyrads. If you hit a lurker, it will attack you. If you provoke a pyrad, it will shoot flames.

The dimension is full of aggressive mobs. Among them are leeches that suck blood from the victim, as well as sludges and sludge worms that live in the pits they dig. There are also wights and swamp hags. However, that’s not the whole list of aggressive entities.

There are several types of bosses, such as a dreadful peat mummy that can be summoned out of the ground, as well as a sludge menace that emerges from the pit of the sludgeon. It is hard to kill the bosses. Since they have a large amount of health and deal a lot of damage, you will need a high-damage sword and good armor.

There are also amulets, but one of them has no effect. The green gem amulet allows you to restore health when attacked, as well as absorbs damage. The crimson gem amulet helps you deal more damage when attacking. The blue gem amulet weakens the enemy and may increase your defense.
