What containers do you usually use to store items in Minecraft? These can be standard chests (single and double), barrels, shulkers, and that’s where the list ends in the vanilla version of the game. That’s why players try to add some new types of containers into the game world through third-party mods. What matters is not only the functionality of these items but also their appearance, mechanics of use (where you can attach them, how best to place them). And if you’re looking for a good addition to integrate new types of containers into the vanilla world, it’s the right time to check our review, where we talk about unique items added by the developer.

The Storage Shelves modification integrates shelves into your world that will be used for storing items. But by themselves, these items are not particularly useful, and along with them, boxes of several types will also be added, which can be placed on such structures. You can store different types of blocks, items, resources in them, and this whole system allows you to create universal loot rooms and storage facilities that will not only be multifunctional but also look colorful. And for any player in the cubic world, aesthetics are important, so there will always be interest in such additions. In this review, you will learn about all the features of this mod, how to place shelves, how they differ from each other, and much more.

After installing the add-on, you get access to two new items at once: boxes and shelves. They are used together: if a player places the structures, for example, on a wall, then they can put boxes of different types there and then fill them with contents (blocks, resources, items). And such a system opens up many possibilities for players, offering them a completely new level of loot room creation. Moreover, you can combine different types of containers in Minecraft: barrels, chests, shulkers, shelves with boxes. It all depends on the place where the structure is placed, as well as many other factors. But to make it clearer how this whole system works, we will look at the new items separately.

A shelf is a new item that attaches to a wall or any other surface. It can be placed on top of each other, resulting in full-fledged storage racks, like in modern warehouses. It doesn’t matter how many are placed: the structure stays steady, doesn’t fall, is not dependent on physics, and can be added to almost any building. Shelves are crafted from iron chains and one wooden slab of various types. Accordingly, this determines the appearance of your structure: if you want to make it red, you use the corresponding materials. All standard types of wood from the vanilla version of Minecraft are available.

The Storage Shelves modification offers two variants of boxes: small and large. Visually, they are quite different from each other and take up different space on the shelves.
· Small box has 25 slots
· Double box has 49 slots
· Triple box – 59 slots.

You can combine all containers by simply placing them on shelves in the appropriate order. For example, if you need to connect several boxes, just hold Shift and place two or three containers on one structure. They will be slightly compressed, take a different shape, but at the same time expand the list of available slots. As a result, the player can place three boxes on a shelf, and when right-clicking on any of them, an additional inventory opens, divided into three parts. The user decides for themselves how and where to put all the contents so that it looks as beautiful as possible, while still fitting all the necessary elements.

If you place a large box, it will have the same interface as the small ones visually, but the number of slots is 54. You can also store almost everything you need here, later using it to store items and create full-fledged loot rooms. All containers from the Storage Shelves modification have a pleasant interface displayed in a separate GUI, both for small and large boxes. Don’t forget that when combining several containers, the slots are divided into three sections, but you can place items in all of them using a single window.

Important to know! If you place a box on the floor, you won’t be able to interact with it. The developer’s main idea is to place shelves and put containers on them, where you can then store various resources. That is, these items are connected to each other, so you will have to use both options anyway. This is an excellent opportunity to create interesting treasure rooms, loot rooms, while also adding colorful decorative items. The appearance of all boxes is the same, but it changes in terms of “size” if you place one box on top of another.
