Review Unnamed Sea

Water biomes in Minecraft are very boring and primitive. For the most part, you can only find ocean monuments and ruined structures here. Aside from that, the vanilla version of the game cannot really offer anything original or exciting that would motivate players to travel around the game world and visit such biomes. Even though they occupy the lion’s share of the entire map, don’t they? If you would like to expand the list of available structures in water biomes, you can try installing a separate mod that adds new locations with loot in just a few clicks. Moreover, these structures can be used not only for looting, but also as a main or temporary place to live. Sounds more interesting already, right?

The Unnamed Sea modification adds a large number of diverse structures to Minecraft, each of which contains some valuable loot. This mainly applies to water biomes, which is why the mod received this name. Various types of rafts generate in the water, while on beaches players will always find lighthouse-like structures that also contain valuable loot and other pleasant additions. And if you have never played with this add-on before, you have truly missed out. In this review, we will show and explain the main features and advantages of this mod, how to quickly reach all available structures, and what kind of loot spawns inside each of them.

The main goal of the mod is to expand the list of available locations in water biomes and on beaches so they no longer feel empty and dull, encouraging players to visit such places more often. Now you will have additional motivation to explore water biomes, whether you travel by boat, on foot, or using elytra. In any case, you will encounter most of the locations added by this mod. In this article, we tried to describe and show the majority of the content introduced by this mod so that you can better understand its main features and advantages. In total, around 4 unique types of structures and 9 variations overall are added, which are generated randomly.

Rafts

Across all water biomes, rafts generate randomly, and they are usually inhabited by friendly villagers. History does not tell us how they ended up here, but you can trade with any of them, develop the trading process, and even create a separate village where you can breed NPCs. All you need to do is feed them, expand the platform, and add workstations so that all newly born villagers immediately acquire professions and can trade with players. There is no need to transport NPCs into water biomes using boats—you already have everything here. Moreover, you can even take any villager from here using water transport and move them wherever you need!

Inside each raft, chests will spawn containing additional loot. This is not the most valuable type of materials, but it is still useful, even for experienced players who are already well progressed. You can see exactly what appears in each chest in the screenshots. Rafts come in several variations, though they mostly share similar details. They are easy to spot from a bird’s-eye view, and if you are traveling by boat, it is recommended to increase the render distance in the game settings.

Large Ships

Ships are much larger-scale structures in the Unnamed Sea add-on. They stand out due to their impressive style and detailed design and are genuinely well made. These locations are guarded by pillagers, who protect all the loot present on board. Each ship belongs to the “transport” category and is used to carry various types of ores. Inside, you will find many ore blocks placed throughout the cabins, but that’s not all. Several chests also appear, usually filled with stacks of ores. This is yet another valuable resource that you can quickly collect.

There are no spawners inside the ships, and once the player eliminates all pillagers, the structure can be considered completely cleared of hostile mobs. Usually, up to 10 such enemies spawn on a single ship. At night, the ships glow due to installed light sources. They look truly impressive, and if you wish, you can even take over such a structure and turn it into a starter base if you happen to find one nearby at the beginning of your survival in Minecraft.

Lighthouses

Lighthouses usually appear near beaches, so these structures are always closer to land. They resemble real buildings and are designed in similar red tones. They have several floors and can essentially be considered full-fledged houses inside. You will find furnaces, crafting tables, beds, chests, barrels, and many other items necessary for survival. Essentially, a house has been built for you—just designed as a lighthouse. It is tall, which means you can easily monitor the surrounding area from the top. You can climb up using ladders or, if you wish, fly up using elytra.

There are no mobs inside, and if you find a lighthouse, you can freely take all the resources stored in its containers. It is recommended to carefully inspect all available floors, as some containers are hidden from plain sight. The lighthouse interior is fully furnished and includes all necessary furniture and decorative elements. The developer clearly put a lot of effort into creating high-quality structures for players. It looks beautiful visually, and no matter how you travel, you will spot such locations from almost any point within a dozen chunks, provided that your render distance is set high.

You can enable Creative mode in Minecraft and use the /locate structure u_sea command to quickly travel to all available locations. You only need to select the appropriate identifier and teleport to the structure. The result is a very high-quality mod with many interesting places to explore. For players, it provides additional motivation to study water biomes, travel the game world more often, and collect valuable loot. The developer continuously improves the mod and adds new content, so we recommend downloading the latest versions to access everything it has to offer.
