Villages of peaceful villagers are important structures in Minecraft, and if a player manages to find such a settlement, the first day of survival usually begins there. Here you can interact with NPCs by trading various goods, and if you manage to find a village, it is a serious bonus in survival mode. The player can also obtain some starting resources from villagers’ chests, take seeds and food from the farm plots. In the vanilla version of Minecraft, several different types of villages are generated: in the savanna, desert, snowy biome, and plains, but we offer you one more unique type of settlement that will be located underground. This is a completely new experience for the player, where they can gain additional advantages.

The Underground Villages mod adds underground villages of peaceful villagers to the game, generated beneath the ground. They can be located somewhere near dungeons or simply spawn in a random place. However, these settlements will always be underground. This is a new opportunity for players to explore caves and gain access to such a village in order to interact with NPCs, trade, see new structures, and so on. In general, the developers at Mojang should have added something like this a long time ago, since players often spend time in caves where they have to mine various types of resources and ores, and such villages would be an excellent aid at any stage of survival.

After installing the mod, you will be able to find underground settlements where peaceful villagers will also spawn. You can trade with them, receive discounts if you infect and then cure NPCs, and assign them different professions. In short, you can do everything you used to do with vanilla villagers. Only now underground structures will appear, generated exclusively underground. This is a separate type of peaceful villages, so their spawning does not affect vanilla generation in any way. We tried to provide as many screenshots as possible to show what these settlements look like in general and what their main differences are compared to vanilla Minecraft.

The developer even added a separate identifier so that players can quickly teleport to this location. If you have access to Creative mode, enter the command /locate structure underground_villages:underground_village. It is only recommended to switch to Spectator mode in order to see the village among the blocks faster and move to it. By default, there is not much lighting here, and to take screenshots we had to additionally light up the area, although there are special mods for Minecraft that add dynamic lighting anywhere. However, such extensions are considered cheating on many servers and are prohibited by default.

In the depths of caves, villages of peaceful villagers look different. In general, the developer of the Underground Villages mod decided to use non-standard materials for the exterior design of the buildings. Here, the roofs are made of copper, and it can be in different states: oxidized, normal, or partially oxidized. Imagine how cool it is when you see different types of roofs on the houses, and their state is constantly changing. You immediately get the feeling that you are facing a “living gameplay,” where something is always happening. In vanilla villages, you could only see changes on farms.

The houses are all the same type, but slightly smaller in size than in the standard version of the game. These are mostly square single-room buildings inhabited by one peaceful villager. Here you can also see a kind of central square with a fountain and a bell. Such a structure in Minecraft has always meant the “center” of a settlement, where all villagers gather during the day. White paths are laid between the houses, and it looks very cool. In general, all the materials here are selected in such a way that underground they look as aesthetic as possible and somehow fit into the overall atmosphere of underground life, because there is much less lighting here, the cave walls constantly loom over the player, and all this can feel mentally “oppressive.”

After installing the Underground Villages mod and finding a village, we placed more torches here to take screenshots, since there is really very little lighting. If you find such a settlement, you will also have to use additional light sources. Although in general there are many lanterns here, they are scattered throughout the location, and as a result the lighting is simply diffused across the entire cave, not as evenly as one would like. In underground villages, you will find plantations where various types of crops are planted (carrots, potatoes, wheat, and much more). Here you can also find pens with cows and sheep, and this is a serious breakthrough for Minecraft.

Inside villagers’ houses you will see chests that contain various types of loot. This can be food, tools, weapons, some valuable items, and many other elements. Villagers constantly wander from one point to another, going about their daily activities. In some areas, golems may appear, since they by default always spawn with NPCs to protect them. You can also find certain types of underground villages that use the sculk block, and such settlements look many times more interesting than all the others, but here you need to wander through the mines in order to stumble upon such structures with a certain probability.

Overall, this turned out to be a cool mod that will give you vivid emotions, diversify the gameplay, and allow you, even while being in caves, to find villages of peaceful villagers to interact with, trade, and obtain some resources. It is also simply more pleasant to play when there is someone “peaceful” nearby, rather than just a bunch of hostile mobs ready to tear you apart at any moment. For users, this is a significant expansion of Minecraft’s capabilities, where they can receive additional bonuses and always trade with villagers, wherever they are: on the surface or underground!
