The Undergarden – a dark world mod

The Undergarden mod adds various items, weapons, and blocks, but most importantly, it introduces a dark dimension with new creatures and types of items.

Catalyst

To enter this dimension, you need a catalyst. It is created from gold and iron ingots, as well as a diamond. You need to build a portal of stone bricks and activate it with this catalyst.

Islands to explore

The world consists of large islands, at the top of which there is a mine. In addition, there are mines on the islands. These mines are full of new creatures and blocks. Below the islands is an endless ocean of green water.

The water itself poses no danger. You can safely swim in it, but you need to be careful. In the mines, there is also poisonous water, which looks very similar to regular water. There are no dangerous creatures in these waters. There are only small fish, which have three health points. Besides, there is kelp growing in some places. When killing a fish, you can cook it in a furnace.

The dimension has no daytime but only night. However, the islands themselves are illuminated by various glowing plants.

New forests

The main part of the islands is occupied by forests, but there are also mountainous areas, meadows, and plains. There are two types of trees: the first one is the wigglewood tree, which is a small bush consisting of 3-4 pieces of wood and leaves of pink color. The second one is the smogstem tree, which looks like a standard oak tree, but it consists of a smog stem and blue-colored leaves. These trees may grow both alone and in large forests.

Blue trees can be crafted into planks and sticks, which can be used to create standard tools and a sword. As for effectiveness and damage, these items are better than the wooden ones from the overworld. The sword has 5 damage points. In terms of effectiveness, these items are similar to stone tools.

Twistytwigs

The wigglewood planks can be crafted into twistytwigs, which are used in bomb crafting. These planks are also used to create scaffolding and a slingshot. To shoot a slingshot, you need bullets. Finding them is not difficult. They are small pebbles scattered throughout the dimension. After you shoot a pebble from a slingshot, you can pick it up. But if the stone hits the target, you will never find it.

New ore

Five types of new ores are generated in caves. When mining coal ore, you will get regular coal, which is used as fuel for smelting ores in a furnace.

You can mine the cloggrum ore and then smelt it to obtain ingots. These ingots are crafted into the cloggrum armor, sword, and tools. The cloggrum armor has almost the same stats as iron armor. However, the helmet has 3 armor and the leggings have 6 armor. The cloggrum sword is even better than the diamond sword since it has 8 damage points. Cloggrum tools are more effective than diamond items. To create these tools, sticks from local trees are used instead of regular sticks. Cloggrum ingots are also used to create a shield and cloggrum rods.

After crafting a cloggrum pickaxe, you can mine a new ore, which is the frost steel. Smelting this ore produces ingots that can be used to craft armor, swords, and tools. The frost steel armor is slightly worse than the diamond armor. Besides, this armor also has another drawback – each piece of armor reduces speed by 5%. The frost steel sword and tools have the same stats as diamond items.

To mine the etherium ore, you will need a frost steel pickaxe. When mining this ore, you will get etherium pieces. If you combine nine of these pieces, you will get an ingot from which you can craft a sword, armor, and tools. More pieces of etherium can be obtained from etherium fragments, which are dropped by one creature living in this dimension. In terms of characteristics, etherium items are even better than their diamond counterparts. The etherium armor also has another benefit – each piece of it adds one percent to knockback resistance.

The rarest ore is called the Regalium. Currently, it can only be used to create ingots and blocks.

New flora

The world has several types of plants such as flowers and mushrooms. One of them is the shimmerweed, which looks like a regular flower but has a small round white glowing flower instead of its main body. It is the shimmerweed that gives illumination to all the islands. Besides, there are three types of mushrooms: the indigo mushroom, the veiled mushroom, and the blood mushroom.

What’s more, you can find growing pumpkins in forests. Like a regular pumpkin, this type of pumpkin can be combined with a torch from this mod to get a glowing pumpkin. You can use this pumpkin to make a pie. To craft it, take one of those mushrooms and a petal. To get a new torch, you need to combine coal with a stick, which is made from wood obtained in this dimension.

In caves, you may find an orange flower, which gives a little light. Picking up this flower allows you to get an item that can be crafted into torches. You can obtain two torches with only one craft.

New creatures

The world has several types of creatures: the gloomper is a small purple creature with white eyes. The gloomper is a passive mob that has 20 health points and will not attack you even if you hit it first.

Spooky scintling

The scintlinghas only two health points and is a passive mob. When it moves, it leaves traces behind it. If you walk on them, your speed will be very low. Once killed, it drops scintling goo balls that can be thrown. If you hit any creature, it will slow down.

Unpredictable dweller

Another type of passive creature is the dweller. At first glance, it may seem that the dweller is an aggressive creature, but that’s not true. It has 15 health points. Killing a dweller drops regular leather and raw meat that can be cooked in a furnace. There is another type of dweller, which is aggressive. These dwellers have different skin and eye colors. The peaceful dweller is gray and green and has yellow eyes. The aggressive dweller has red eyes and is dark green. Peaceful dwellers can turn into aggressive ones if they are attacked by a creature that looks like a zombie.

Scary rotwalker

The rotwalker has 40 health points and is an aggressive mob. Although rotwalkers have 40 health points, they do not pose a particular threat. However, there are similar creatures that are much more dangerous. Both mobs have the same skin and eye color. The upgraded version looks like a golem and has 80 health points. It can take away 8 health points with only one hit. When hitting, it throws you several blocks up. Once killed, it drops a fragment, which is the main item for creating armor, tools, and a sword.

The islands are inhabited by another creature – the brute. It has 20 health points and is a neutral mob. If you attack it, it will start spinning and deal damage with its long arms. When the Brute dies, it drops tusks, from which you can obtain the bone meal.

Mysterious flower

When going through forests, you will meet an unusual flower, which is a passive mob. This flower has 25 health points. Although this creature will not attack you, it is very difficult to kill. The flower can walk on the ground and fly. When killed, it drops rotten fruit, which you can throw at various creatures and cause minor damage. You can also use rotten fruit to create a bomb, which is similar to dynamite.
