Simple Storage Network: A Technology Mod for Minecraft

Simple Storage Network is quite a small but useful mod that adds a mechanic to store items and blocks in chests, thanks to which you will be able to sort items into individual chests and much more.

Creating a Storage System

The complete storage system consists of several blocks: chests, the storage network master, the storage request table, and cables, which lead to the chests. The main block in the system is the storage network master, crafted from four quartz blocks, four storage cables, and one diamond. To view all the blocks connected to the system, click the RMB on the storage network master.

Using a New Block

An equally important block is the storage request table, by which you can view crafts. It is also used to view and request items in chests. This block is crafted from four gold ingots, four cables, and one crafting table.

Connection Blocks

To connect this entire storage system, storage cables are used. They are crafted from six stone slabs and two iron ingots. It is connected to a block by pressing Shift+RMB. You can also create the storage link cable used to connect the network. It is created from five storage cables.

Connection Types

There are also other kinds of cables for various purposes. The export cable ensures the transfer of items from the network to the connected inventories. It is created from storage cables and a piston. The import cable, on the contrary, transfers certain items from the inventory to the network. It is crafted from four storage cables and a hopper. The processing cable automates the processing of simple transactions. It is created from four pieces of gold, four storage cables, and the observer.

Important Information Necessary for the Proper Connection

The storage network master and the storage request table are not connected by the cables — they must be adjacent. To understand whether the system is working or not, click on the storage request table. A GUI must appear, which features the cells as in the crafting table and shows all the resources in the chests.

Controller: A Controlling Block

The cables also have a separate GUI, where you can change the parameters of the incoming blocks. For more convenient control of all the processing cables in the network, the controller has been added. It is crafted from four lapis lazuli blocks, four processing cables, and obsidian.

Boosting the Item Transmission Speed

By default, the speed on the cables is low, and items will be transferred with a delay at long distances. To speed up this process, you can apply the Speed upgrade crafted from two gold ingots, two redstone blocks, and one storage cable.

There are two more upgrades, one of which is the Stack upgrade, by which you can increase the size of a stack of a certain task. Thanks to the Operation upgrade, you can automatically start or stop the transfer depending on the content of a chest. The Stack upgrade is crafted from two redstone blocks, two blaze powders, and one storage cable. The Operation upgrade is created from two redstone comparators, two redstone blocks, and one storage cable.

There is also the Stock upgrade that sets a maximum of items in the connected storage block. It applies only to the export cable and is crafted from two redstone comparators and one storage cable.

So that players can access the network at a distance, there is the storage remote, crafted from four gold ingots, two export cables, two import cables, and one storage cable. However, this item has a limit of 64 blocks.

To use the network over unlimited distances, you should upgrade the storage remote. The upgrade is crafted from four ender pearls, magma, glowstone, two gold ingots, and the storage network master.

All these upgrades work only in one dimension. To use the network while being in another dimension, there is the advanced storage remote, crafted from two purpur blocks, magma, the blaze rod, four ender pearls, and the nether star.
