Hi, Kaojinn here with an important announcement.

First, I'd like to start off by saying thanks for being here with us as we turn the page on a new year! It always tends to be a time of reflection where we reevaluate what we want to do moving forward and put into practice any changes we want to make in our lives. With that in mind, we have decided to discontinue active development of Prefab as of the end of March.

When Brian and I started this mod, it was just a spinoff of a feature from our first mod, Repurpose. Just a small customizable house that could be set down to ease early survival. We had seen other mods in the past that would allow you to place down canned building designs, but we wanted to put our own spin on the concept and unify it under a common theme that made sense. Thus, Prefab was born! The idea of a construction theme tied it together and grounded it in something easy to understand. Adding variety and the preview function really helped us stand out.

It was back in 2016 when those initial conversations over work lunch happened. We would sit there discussing how we wanted things to work, to look, to add, etc. Usually, it was me dreaming big, and Brian mentally figuring out how to make it happen. But times change. That was 6-7 years ago now, and we've moved on to new games, and different interests. Neither of us has played Minecraft with any kind of frequency in a number of years.

If you're still here reading this, you're the reason why we've continued to maintain this. It's been an amazing experience seeing everyone come out of the woodwork, and share their love for the mod, and their curiosity to see what's next.

Speaking of what's next, I simply don't know. But whatever the future holds, thank you for being a part of our journey to this point. At the time of writing this, we've just crossed 10 million downloads of the mod. That feels like a great milestone to end on.

Prefab is a collection of functional and aesthetic buildings that you can place into your world instantly!  With our instant houses and structures, you can skip over the time-consuming job of landscaping, and trying to build without a creeper undoing your work.  Our preview function lets you see the structure in the world and move through a projection of it in real time.  Just pick the place you want to put it, and the Prefab Blueprints do the rest!  Whether you haven't got the time, patience or will, we've got structures that are guaranteed to please some of you, but not all of you. :)

This mod requires the following mods to also be downloaded and included in your "Mods" directory.

Images of mod blocks, items, and associated recipes can be found on the Wiki. The Wiki is the same as the FORGE version as I am trying to keep them in-sync.

Structure Preview - All structure GUIs include a "preview" button. This will create a shadow structure in the world for you to see what it will look like when it's placed. This will give you the opportunity to make sure that you have enough space for the structure or to make sure that it will be placed where you want it to be placed. Block facings for fences, torches and other similar blocks will most likely not have their proper facing when rendered in this fashion, they will look correct when placed.
Note: This functionality was adapted from Botania's Visualize functionality. The mod info and source code has been updated to state as such as well. http://botaniamod.net/license.php.

Note: Make sure your graphics setting is set to "Fancy" otherwise this functionality will not work.

Structure Preview Known Conflicts:

1. Anything Optifine - Optifine does a lot of adjustments to the rendering system of Minecraft and interferes with the preview functionality.

2. BCLib - This is a library mod which has an API around rendering. This also appears to interfere with block rendering during preview.

If you want to contribute a cool custom structure for others to enjoy, we have some guidelines.

1. You must use vanilla blocks or blocks added through this mod. If you think you need a custom block for the design let us know and we can create that too.
2. We reserve the right to change the design as necessary for balance or aesthetics.
3. If you want, you will be credited for contributions on the mod page.
4. Provide your sample world through our discord server.
5. Provide a description of this building. What would it be used for or is this just a aesthetic building?
