MCA Reborn [FabricForge]

An interesting mod based on interaction with residents. Once, as far back as on versions 1.12.2 and earlier, there was a great mod called Minecraft Comes Alive that turns vanilla Villagers into full-fledged NPCs with their own characters, looks, ways of communication, and so on. Well, the MCA Reborn mod is its ideological successor for later versions. In fact, the mechanics remain the same – smart residents appear in villages, whom you can broadly interact with: make friends, communicate, learn their character, and even start a family.

When starting the game, you’ll be greeted by a feature menu where you can choose your character’s gender, appearance, and even traits of character and health conditions. This change has been introduced because all non-player characters will now have different genders and orientations. Yes, villagers can now be both men and women, and even children look like people, not like adults’ smaller copies.

You can talk to any character you like, regardless of whether they have a profession. You can just start a conversation, joke, give a villager a gift or do something together, for example, ride a horse. You can trade with those villagers who have a profession like with the vanilla ones. The higher your communication level, the more each village resident is affectionate towards you.

This point – affection – builds up your personal reputation and your reputation in the village. The higher your village reputation, the more things you can do in managing the village, for example, help residents build houses and develop the village into a larger settlement.

If a resident suits you in terms of affection, is single, and has the matching orientation and the right gender, you can marry and even have children, who will automatically turn into NPCs. You can read more about this in special books. The first one – about the specifics of relations – is given to you when you start the game, the rest – about the mechanics of building, development, and so on – you’ll have to craft yourself. All guides are quite detailed and translated into several languages.

The list of professions has also been expanded. Now, it’s not only Golems who are responsible for protecting villages, but the residents as well, because Guards have been introduced into the game. They won’t let a stranger rob the village, will protect the villagers from monsters, or just wander around with weapons at the ready. In fact, the new mechanics allows the residents to take on professions themselves, for example, a Jeweler, a Builder, and others, according to the village needs, but you can hire Guards from free residents if you need.

Another character – Death or the Grim Reaper – inevitably accompany you in life. So, a new character death mechanic will appear in the game. After someone in the village grows old and dies (or dies under other circumstances), a new character will appear in your village – the Grim Reaper. You can ignore him or fight him for the soul of your loved one. But be careful! This is a pretty strong mob with powerful weapons and a tendency to teleport itself, so the fight may go wrong for you.

If you don’t want to fight the reaper at the cost of your life, you can craft a special Staff of Life. Then find the cemetery where your loved one is buried and use this staff on the grave to resurrect the deceased.

You can also become the Grim Reaper if you want. If you got his Scythe after killing the Reaper, you can use it to kill the residents and catch their souls for the further necromantic rite. The resurrected villagers will turn into undead and will attack you and your entire village.
