Mahou Tsukai is a magic mod that adds unique spells and special effects. You can use magic to perform various rituals and increase your magical skills. Besides, the mod introduces a lot of interesting and useful items.

Main Menu

The mod changes the title screen, which becomes darker and makes the game look a bit different. The background image is the Nether.

Mahou Tsukai Knowledge Compendium

To get acquainted with the mod and its new items, as well as find out why you need mana, feel free to use the in-game guidebook called the Mahou Tsukai Knowledge Compendium . It is crafted with 3 papers, leather, and 5 red dyes.

Blood Circle

To start using mana, you need to draw a circle of blood. To draw the blood circle, hold M for a few seconds when taking damage. If you do everything right, the circle will appear. After that, you will have a mana bar on your screen. Originally, its capacity is very small, but that’s enough for the initial rituals. The bar will be filled when you draw the circle. The base value of maximum mana is 100

Dagger

To take damage less naturally, you need to craft a dagger. It is crafted with 2 iron ingots, 2 purple dyes, 2 gold ingots, and a stick. Pick up the dagger and click RMB. The effect of bleeding will last for 15 seconds. You should use this time to draw the blood circle by holding M. Besides, the dagger can be used as a weapon to kill creatures. Its damage is 7.5, and its attack speed is 1.5, which makes this dagger more effective than the diamond sword.

Catalysts

Mana storage increases gradually as you use mana. Mana regenerates over time. By the way, there are several ways to increase your mana regeneration rate. One of them is food. With its frequent use, mana increases. Another way to restore mana is to sleep on a bed. To use magic, you need several items. The Blood Circle is one of the most important items used for rituals. Besides, each ritual uses three catalysts. In total, there are 7 catalysts, each representing a certain area of magic. The iron is responsible for magic circles and can be used to create one of the catalysts. Ender pearls are needed for magic transference. The diamond is used for the projectile spell. The emerald is a symbol of exchange since you use this item to trade with the villagers. The gold is the magic of a mystic. The quartz gives intelligence. The last type of catalyst is crafted with the Ender Eye. It is the magic of the mystic eye.

Mortar and Pestle

To create each type of catalyst, you need to carefully smash up a specific item. To do that, you need two new items.

One of the items that can be used to create catalysts is the Mortar and Pestle. It is created in the workbench by using the mortar and the pestle. The mortar is crafted with one diamond and two bricks, while the pestle is crafted with three diamonds and two sticks. This method is more efficient since you can obtain 2 dust from crushing.

Hammer

Another way to smash up items is to use the hammer, which is crafted with two sticks, two cobblestones, and a string. To smash up an item, you need to use the workbench.

Leylines

If you wear the Mystic Eyes of Fay Sight, you will see leylines. They connect certain points throughout the world. If you go into a leyline, you can take some mana from nature and increase your mana generation rate. Flying with elytra in these places will be faster.

Fays

These places are inhabited with rather unusual creatures – fays. A regular player cannot see them, only hear them. To detect them, you need to wear the Mystic Eyes of Fay Sight. Fays sound like bells. Besides, they can be of different colors: red, green, and purple are the most common. Fays are friendly creatures and will never attack you. To spawn fays, you need to use any dust to perform a ritual.

Fairy Essence

Killing a Fay drops the Fairy Essence. This item is used to create a magic circle. Click RMB to roll up your circle into a scroll.

Mystic Code

The Mystic Code is used as a container for scrolls. To open it, you need to press shift + RMB. It has 3 storage cells. Each cell holds 64 scrolls. One cell should store scrolls of the same type. The “Y” key switches scrolls you can use. To use the scroll located in the mystic code, you need to click RMB. This item is crafted with 6 Spell Cloths and 3 Gold Dust. To craft the Spell Cloth, put a dagger and wool of any color into your workbench. By the way, you won’t lose the dagger after that. It will be placed in your inventory.

First Sorcery

The Mystic Code – First Sorcery is a type of mystic code that has limited durability and allows you to reuse scrolls. It is crafted in the workbench with 6 Spell Cloths, Diamond Dust, and 2 Fairy Essences.

Projector

The magic circle projector is a block that shows runes and magic circles. If you right-click on the projector, you will open its interface, in which you can configure the magic circle as you like. It is used only as a decorative block, crafted with 6 gold dust, 2 redstones, and 1 spell cloth.

Mana Chain

The Mana Chain is crafted with 8 Fairy Essences and Emerald Dust. It is used to transfer your mana to another speller. By right-clicking on the chain, you will become its owner. Continue right-clicking to transfer mana to the chain. Each click transfers 10 units of mana. The capacity of one chain is 100000.

Staff

One of the rituals performed in the Blood Circle is the Staff of Explosive Mana Condensation. Its summoning provokes explosive power. The staff has a very long charge time, and its use will cause massive damage. You can choose staff mode by pressing shift + RMB. The “big bang” mode sweeps away all living things near you at a distance of more than 30 blocks, thus forming a semicircle. The “area” mode throws magic in a certain direction, thereby destroying everything in this area. The “beam” mode allows you to form a beam of destruction. It can be used to form mines. This staff requires 2 Gold Dust and Diamond Dust to craft. When forming a staff, you lose 100 units of mana. You need 5000 mana to enable the “big bang” mode. The “beam” mode costs 500 mana.

Staff of Spatial Disorientation

The Staff of Spatial Disorientation is crafted in the Blood Circle with 2 Gold Dust and Ender Pearl Dust (cloth required). The staff is used to move entities in the direction you are looking at. Forming the staff costs 100 mana. Each use takes 200 mana.

Summon Familiar

Many different spells allow you to summon something. One of these scrolls is Summon Familiar. It requires 3 Quartz Dust to summon. The Familiar will tell you about interesting creatures and blocks it sees, as well as load nearby chunks. The Summon requires 200 units of mana. If your Familiar is missing, there is a scroll to recall it to you. It is crafted with 2 Quartz Dust and Ender Pearl Dust.

Scroll

There are a lot of spells, which can be viewed and studied in the Mahou Tsukai Knowledge Compendium. One of them is the scroll of the Mystic Eye of Fay Sight. It is crafted in the Blood Circle with 3 Ender Eye Dust and requires 100 units of mana. You can use this scroll to find Fays. Each scroll gives only 30 seconds of this effect. When using multiple scrolls, the time will increase.
