Macaw’s Bridges – different types of bridges

The Macaw’s Bridges mod adds a large number of bridges that allow you to quickly cross water or lava biomes, transform your buildings, cities, and locations, and create a certain atmosphere to have fun.

In general, the author has made every effort to bring his ideas to life and fit such a large number of bridges in one mod. To date, the mod has over 29 million downloads and it is the best add-on in its niche. If you need to make a cool bridge, choose one of a dozen options, feel free to download this mod and enjoy the result.

Minecraft bridge overview

There are plenty of varieties, but in many respects, these mechanisms are similar to each other. There are regular bridges, suspension bridges, and special beams to support the whole structure. You will be surely impressed by the author’s engineering skills: he has thought through every detail and created some incredible designs that look almost like in real life.

Regular bridges

These blocks are used as the base for your bridge, allowing it to grow in size regardless of location, biome, and material. The following options for these designs are available to you:

  • Oak;
  • Birch;
  • Acacia;
  • Spruce;
  • Jungle;
  • Dark oak;
  • Crimson;
  • Warped.

As you understand, only the basic material for crafting the bridge is different. For example, you can use spruce or acacia wood, but the order of placing items will be the same. Here are several crafting options so that you can roughly understand how to construct regular bridges: you need to change the material to the one you have and create the structure.

Rope bridges

Rope bridges are another type of construction that belongs to suspended ones. These structures are more complicated than regular bridges, but they can be used in any location and do their job perfectly. They are usually built over rivers and lakes, as well as between large rocks. Besides, these bridges captivate with their «aged look», so you can use them to shoot colorful YouTube videos. Rope bridges have the same variations as the previous design, so it makes no sense to describe them again.

Here are a few crafting recipes for this design. If you want to change the appearance of the bridge, feel free to use a different type of wood in crafting. And that’s it.

Rail bridges

In Macaw’s Bridges, rail bridges are used to lay rails. No other structures will allow you to place rails, but the rail bridge is primarily designed for this purpose. It looks cool if you have a large railway network and need to make a crossing over a river, ocean, or between large rocks. These items can be used both in the overworld and in the end biome or nether.

Many players build a subway in the nether to quickly move and teleport to the overworld. So, you can use rail bridges and build railroad crossings over lava and large chasms. The following options will be available to you:

  • Jungle;
  • Acacia;
  • Dark oak;
  • Oak;
  • Spruce;
  • Birch;
  • Crimson;
  • Warped;
  • Bamboo.

As with any other construction, only the recipe material changes but the crafting remains the same. Here are a few screenshots so that you can roughly understand how to build rail bridges. For construction, you can use any type of rails, ranging from simple ones to pressure and energy rails. Therefore, you can move many times faster if you have enough gold, iron, or redstone.

Bridge supports

Bridge supports are some kind of foundation that holds the structure. The support beams allow you to place your bridges right in the middle of the water, as well as to create a stronger structure. Do you know what a real-life bridge consists of? Bridges are commonly designed with bridge support beams. These elements are located at a certain distance from each other and stretch from the very bottom to the body of the bridge, thus making it durable, rigid, and safe.

The same principle is used in Minecraft. Thus, you can use different support options to create a solid structure. However, they do not affect the mechanics and physics of the game in any way. Here in Minecraft, you can even build a pillar, chop its lower blocks off, and let it hang in the air. So, these elements are mainly used for aesthetics to make the bridge look vibrant, realistic, and effective. And the mod perfectly copes with this task.

Bridge stairs

To get to the «regular bridge», you sometimes need to overcome a height of several blocks. And standard stairs will not work here. For regular bridges, you have to use the appropriate version of stairs that you can mount on either side to easily climb the bridge. These structures are actively used by players not only to cross water bodies but also to create cool canyon bridges that will hang over the abyss.

You can use the same materials as for other items: different types of wood, bamboo, and warped materials. Crafts of several options are attached below.

Rope bridge stairs

Similar to regular bridges, rope bridges also have stairs. However, there is a significant difference between these two types: while regular stairs consist of steps, their suspended counterparts have additional support beams. Besides, they can be extended to expand the opening for pedestrians or transport.

Rope stairs look cool, stylish, and spectacular. However, you need to mount them correctly so that there are no height differences, especially if you are making a full-fledged suspension bridge with different entrances and exits at a high altitude. Crafting is very simple and there are many types of wood and other materials.

Rigid-frame bridges

The last category I would like to highlight in Macaw’s Bridges is bridges made of solid materials, such as sandstone, red sandstone, iron, and brick. There are many variations. Besides, such bridges will look more impressive if you adhere to a modern style of architecture.

Feel free to check out a few crafting options to get an idea of how to build rigid-frame bridges. The cost of creating such a design will be many times higher, but it's worth every effort you make.

Pliers

There is another unique item – pliers. However, most players, even those reviewing Macaw’s Bridges, do not understand why they are needed and how to use this tool.

Pliers are needed for editing bridge railings. You may have noticed that each option presented has a railing. However, you can remove them. For example, if you need an additional fork, just remove these interfering fences somewhere in the middle of the structure.

The only important tip is that pliers work by right-clicking in the active slot and only allow you to edit those types of bridges that use two or more blocks in width. Do not confuse it with length! All default blocks in Macaw’s Bridges are placed side by side and are only 1 block wide. In this case, you won’t manage to remove the railing before you expand the width to two blocks. Look at the screenshot to better understand what we are talking about.

These are all the innovations and features for Macaw’s Bridges available in the new version of the mod. The developer promptly updates and refines his product. At the same time, he competently approaches the technical part of the modification despite the lack of physics in Minecraft. In general, it is perhaps the best mod to add bridges. So, if you need a cool add-on for designing railways, canyons, or abysses, or you need to make a visually pleasing transition between rocks, feel free to use this modification.
