Review Fantasy Biomes

Fantasy Biomes brings variety to the familiar and boring Minecraft world. The mod adds many new fantasy biomes and mobs that inhabit them. Some biomes are combinations of several vanilla ones, while others are completely new. In addition to biomes, new structures will generate in the world, including dangerous dungeons with chests.

Kova Forest

A large forest with ashen grass and red trees. The distinctive features of this place are floating islands and dense fog. Hostile goblins are commonly encountered here, dropping meat.

Misty Forest

A biome predominantly colored in blue and green shades. It somewhat resembles the vanilla Warped Forest from the Nether, where the entire ground is infected with fungi. This is the easiest place to find cobalt ore, which has a rarity comparable to copper. While exploring the area, you may encounter an infected zombie, a frog, and a deer. A dragonfly also lives here, which can be tamed and equipped with armor.

Aurora Bloom

The most colorful and vibrant biome among those added. This biome of magic and beauty is home to lush deer, lemurs, butterflies, and fairies. Fairies are hostile toward the player and pose a serious threat. They drop fairy wings and fairy pollen, which are used to craft new armor.

Forest of Dark Night

A very dark biome where it can be difficult to see anything. A distinctive feature of this biome is the golden foliage, which contrasts with the rest of the surroundings. The leaves illuminate the entire dark forest like stars. Dark deer and a giant underground worm can be encountered here.

Desert of the Dead

The area is filled with numerous fossils and giant cacti that feed on the ancient remains of large creatures. The entire desert is strewn with their massive bones.

Deep Jungles

Extremely dense and humid forests. In this favorable and warm climate, a wide variety of lush vegetation grows, making the forest nearly impassable. While exploring, you may encounter a massive beehive filled with honey and hostile bees that will fiercely defend their queen.

Weeping Mangrove Grove

An enhanced version of the vanilla mangrove grove. Giant trees with massive roots now grow here. The biome is filled with small wildlife such as fireflies.

City

A large and advanced village that generates as a biome. Due to its complex implementation, it is currently in beta testing. The city is populated by townsfolk who are willing to trade, just like in a vanilla village.

Lost Lands

A long-forgotten and lost civilization located deep underground. The biome is inhabited by underground dwellers who can trade, as well as dead wizards. While exploring the caves, you may encounter a dungeon with a treasury guarded by an ancient golem. It drops steel, and its damage is slightly lower than that of a regular one.

New Armor and Ores

In addition to a large number of creatures and mobs, Fantasy Biomes adds new ores from which armor can be crafted. The most common ore is cobalt, an iron-tier equivalent. Next is the rare hessonite, which requires a cobalt pickaxe to mine. Peridot serves as the diamond equivalent. The final ore is zircon, which requires a peridot pickaxe to mine and is comparable to netherite in both rarity and quality. The armor appears as an alloy of all the new ores.

In addition to ore-based armor, magical armor can be crafted from fairy pollen and fairy wings. It has a magical effect and slows falling speed, while the leggings grant a small movement speed boost. Its protection is on par with diamond armor.
