In Minecraft, many players travel to the Nether not only to trade with Piglins or search for Netherite and Bastions. They also go there to collect Ghast Tears. Usually, gathering these requires building dedicated farms if you need large quantities. Ghast Tears are important ingredients for potion brewing in vanilla Minecraft. However, obtaining them the standard way is time-consuming and not very exciting. In this article, we review a unique mod that completely changes the way Ghast Tears are collected!

The Crying Ghasts mod allows Ghasts to drop tears periodically. You don’t need to kill the mob: tears will fall from their eyes at certain intervals, a new mechanic introduced by the author. When the Ghast starts crying, tears drop down, and the player just collects them. The Ghast still retains its standard behavior, attacking players with fireballs! In this review, we’ll explain how this system works and its main advantages.

Normally, Ghast Tears are obtained by going to the Nether, finding a Ghast, and trying to kill it with a bow. Often, the tears fall into lava, making collection difficult. Experienced players build farms to gather more tears efficiently, but this requires advanced knowledge. Alternatively, mod developers created a solution that changes Ghast behavior and adds unique mechanics.

In the Nether, Ghasts now have a chance to drop tears as if they are crying. Each tear falls to the ground, allowing players to collect it for potions or crafting. The mod provides configuration options to control how and when Ghasts drop tears:

· maxDistanceToGhastBlocks (default = 32, min = 1, max = 256): The distance from the player at which the Ghast will drop tears. If you are within 31 blocks, no tears fall; if 32 or more, they will drop. Players can customize this distance;

· ghastTearDelayTicks (default = 1200, min = 1, max = 72000): Delay between tear drops, where 1 second = 20 ticks. You can set how frequently the Ghast cries and releases tears.

The vanilla mechanics remain: Ghasts fly around and attack the player. You must track where tears fall while defending against fireballs. If a Ghast dies, there is a chance it drops a tear, affected by weapon enchantments. Thus, you have two ways to collect Ghast Tears, depending on your playstyle. Additionally, Crying Ghasts allows:

· Server events. On multiplayer servers, you can create competitions for collecting Ghast Tears, combining parkour skills with combat challenges;

· New farms. Despite the new tear-dropping mechanics, you can build automated farms, for example by trapping Ghasts in chunks and leaving the player AFK;

· Detailed configuration. Players can adjust the mod based on their playtime, whether in singleplayer or multiplayer, and other preferences, using the config file;

· Loot distribution. In vanilla Minecraft, you can move a Ghast to a safe area and let players collect tears within sight.

In conclusion, this is a cool and unusual mod that enhances gameplay by adding a new way to collect Ghast Tears. Whether you build farms or chase them manually, it provides more options and variety. The new mechanics do not affect weapon enchantments, so drop quantity depends on luck or your chosen tear frequency in the configuration file.
