How to Change the Color of the Hearts?

Once you install the Colorful Hearts mod into your modpack and run the game, a configuration file will appear. You need to locate it, as this is the text document you will work with.

Normally it can be found at a path similar to: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\versions\1.20.2 Fabric\config (your drive letter, username, and modpack folder name may differ).

Open it with any text editor. We recommend using Notepad++, as it supports syntax highlighting for almost all popular programming languages, including JSON format. It’s more convenient to work this way so the text doesn’t shift.

Here you need to find the sections “Default” and “Colors”, which contain color names in HEX format (written with 6 characters — both letters and numbers — indicating a specific shade). Each such entry represents a heart, and you will have to examine the file to edit everything properly. You can see examples of modified hearts in our screenshots, which become available after editing the file. It looks very cool, and no texture packs are needed, as everything is done simply by replacing colors in HEX format.

You will be able to change the health hearts in Minecraft to almost any color available in HEX. And since HEX contains millions of shades differing only by code, your options are nearly limitless. You can also color each heart in its own unique shade, but this requires more extensive editing to change the appearance of the entire HP bar. It looks really cool, and at first it may seem like the player has installed texture packs, even though everything is done within a single mod.

If you make changes to the Colorful Hearts configuration file, it is recommended to restart the launcher each time so the changes take effect. Sometimes the file may reset to default settings, so periodically save a modified version so you can restore it later. It will be enough to replace the standard JSON with the modified one to get a different heart design in the game. Otherwise, the procedure is extremely simple.
