The in-game functionality of Minecraft is constantly changing, and we see something new in each new version. Even so, as a rule, there are no global changes, and the developers mainly focus on some special aspects, particular menu items, and bug fixes. Thus, as you know, the game features a chat, but it cannot be customized in any way in the standard Minecraft launcher, which is a big problem. And that is difficult to understand, given that if you install some mods or plugins, you will immediately see rich syntax, highlighting, color changing, fonts, and much more.
So if you would like to slightly improve the chat in Minecraft, we suggest you install the Chat Heads add-on that will display a character's skin icon next to the text. That is not only convenient but also beautiful. Thanks to such a mod, you will be able to quickly understand who is writing and to whom, where your messages are, and where your interlocutors' replies are. Even though the content brought by the mod is meager and not even worthy of a separate mod, Chat Heads can still be quite useful. That is why we have made a small review of this add-on.
Any communication in games is done either in a voice chat or a text chat, and Minecraft uses the text option by default. However, it is too simple, and if there are a large number of players on a server, it is difficult to understand who is writing and to whom. And if there are also several identical or similar nicknames, it will be almost impossible not to get confused. It is here where different mods come to the rescue, allowing you to slightly change the appearance of the interface and add some functions. If you are reading this review, you are thinking about installing Chat Heads. This add-on will allow you to slightly transform the chat in Minecraft.
The Chat Heads mod adds an icon of your character, which be displayed as a smiley in the chat. Indeed, only the text and a player's nickname are displayed in the game by default, so if players have identical nicknames, it is not clear who exactly wrote a text. Similarly, when it comes to communication, if you want to answer someone, you need to first identify your interlocutor's message, which is highly difficult on large servers with their constant chatter. That is why such mods as Chat Heads are created. Along with the nickname, a smaller version of each player's skin will also be displayed in the chat.
Moreover, even if you change Steve's skin in the launcher or on the official Minecraft website, its smaller variant will still be displayed in the chat in the form of a smiley. Isn't that cool? As a result, a player's head will always be displayed before the text, and you will immediately see who exactly is writing a message. That slightly facilitates finding particular messages by players, and you will be able to quickly determine where your answers are and where the answers of other users are. That is basically all the functionality added by Chat Heads, but despite such meager content, this add-on can boast more than 30 million downloads. Just imagine how many users decided to transform the look of the in-game chat.
To adjust the settings, you will need to install Cloth Config and Mod Menu. You will thus be able to change the parameters of the config file. However, you may find the default functions quite enough. On some Minecraft servers, the settings may not work, and you will need to contact an admin. However, on the client side, all the changes are visible immediately. So be sure to add the Chat Heads mod to your build and enjoy the updated communication with new visual elements. As for us, it would be interesting to know what other custom add-ons you use to transform the launcher, the game's appearance, and visual effects.
