Review Catastrophe (Forge)

Catastrophe (Forge)

It is a large-scale adventure mod that adds new bosses, ores, dungeons, and much more to Minecraft. It significantly expands the vanilla game world, allowing you to spend more time exploring, fighting, and traveling through the mines.

Note! For the add-on to work correctly, you should install the following mods: Geckolib, Curios API, Player Animator, and Just Enough Items. Unfortunately, they do not come with the mod, but without them, it simply does not launch.

In the beginning, you get a special bag with a basic set of tools, some torches, and a bow with arrows. Besides, you will see a new icon above the hunger bar indicating the amount of mana.

You will be able to choose your class: mage, knight, archer, and so on. All the armor and weapons are also divided into classes, so it is better to use a complete set of some class at once. However, the class here is rather nominal, as it has to do only with bonuses for armor and weapons.

Ores

New ores will now generate across the game world, from which you will be able to subsequently craft new armor and weapons. It is recommended to mine them with at least the iron pickaxe.

Mage

Two armor types are meant for the mage.

The shroomium armor is similar to the iron one and adds +80 to mana and +15 to magic damage. It is crafted from the new shroomium ingots. The full set allows you to release poison gas once in a few ticks.

The nautilus armor is one level lower than the iron one in terms of characteristics. It adds +30 to mana and +15 to magic damage and is crafted from the nautilus shells and dried kelp blocks.

The mage can fight with four new staffs and special spell books. You will not have to recharge them, but they use quite a significant amount of your mana.

Knight

The knight has only one class armor. It is similar to the vanilla iron one, but its full set gives +15 to melee damage and a chance to make your enemy bleed.

But the choice of melee weapons is indeed broad — about twenty new items, including swords, axes, spears, katanas, etc. Most of them are craftable, but some can only be found or obtained from mobs.

Druid

The druid's armor is natural, so both of its sets are crafted from cacti, moss, and vines and so cannot boast advanced characteristics. However, they give a bonus to the druid magic and the power of summoned creatures.

The druids, as children of nature, do not fight themselves. So all four staffs and the glove belonging to this class only summon mobs that will help you.

Archer

A good archer should not be visible, so a full set of armor for this class provides only low protection but adds a bonus to stealth and ranged attack.

The archer can take advantage of as many as eight bow types with specific effects, new, more powerful, arrows and two throwing daggers.

Class-Independent Armor

If you do not want to play as any of the above classes, you will still be able to get three good armor sets from the new ingots.

The first armor, made of the tungsten iron, is one level better than the netherite one. The other two are slightly simpler and similar to the vanilla iron armor. However, they add +4 and +6 hearts when you equip their full sets, respectively.

Accessories

The mod brings quite a few new accessories, along with special slots to the character's menu for them. They are practically artifacts, as their task is to add health or mana to the player or impose various effects on them.

Bosses

The game will now feature four new bosses, battles with which will be a true challenge for you. Many of them attack you with magic, and all have extremely high health and damage levels. Their salient feature is that they do not appear naturally and need to be summoned using special tokens.

Thorn Infested Armor. It has 400 health points, vine tentacles from behind, and the ability to commit multiple attacks on all living and non-living things. It can also apply magic, uses an axe, and summons various exploding objects over the enemy's head. After death, it drops a good axe, several infected vines, and iron plates.

Its summon token is the Poisoned Iron Heart.

Mineral Wraith. It has 200 health points, can fly, evokes a circle of permanently rotating swords around it, and summons the night, which lasts until it dies. It also readily applies magic, actively finishing off the enemy with electric charges. After death, it drops various copper weapons and magic books, along with electrically charged crystals.

It is summoned by the Copper Token.

To summon the other two bosses, you will need to fulfill several quest conditions and craft special tokens.
