Stay True: Improved Vanilla Textures

We are going to consider a texture pack created specifically for those users who do not like the standard appearance of Minecraft but are quite satisfied with the vanilla style, which, by the way, is not that bad. Of course, it has certain shortcomings and flaws, but only compared to other works released by fan developers, as tens of thousands of texture packs of different themes have been created for Minecraft for now. It goes without saying that the lion's share of them surpasses the standard game appearance and fixes many defects, bugs, and flaws.

However, if you would like to enjoy an improved vanilla style while leaving it in the same form as we see it in the usual version of Minecraft, be sure to download a texture pack called Stay True to be discussed in this review. We have tried to describe all its advantages as thoroughly as possible so that you understand what the difference is, as it is difficult to notice all the changes with the naked eye.

Review of the Stay True Texture Pack

The Stay True texture pack is a visually improved version of Minecraft, a kind of remaster where the developer fixed and changed a lot of textures that required improvement. At the same time, all its changes are not radical, perfectly match the default style, theme, and color palette, and are nicely combined with all the items and blocks. One of the features of this pack is diversity, as the blocks will now not have the same texture, say, if they go in a row. The grass will differ in size, the appearance of the flowers will change, the foliage will become more diverse, and so on.

So if you want to change the appearance of the game beyond recognition, the Stay True texture pack is not for you. In contrast, if you would like just to modify the standard Minecraft and leave the usual style intact, the pack, which we are going to examine, will come to the rescue. In general, the developer has done a great job creating such a mod and has taken into account the massive feedback that has been provided for years. Unfortunately, Mojang is reluctant to correct these weak points and focuses on something completely different, such as mobs, locations, biomes, different types of blocks, etc., rarely paying attention to the design. However, it is enough to download the Stay True texture pack and enjoy an updated visual picture.

Features of Stay True

If we consider all the changes separately, they would seem minor. However, when you look through the screenshots of a new pack or just compare the two design options (vanilla and Stay True), the difference will be immediately visible. And so that you do not painfully discern the changes brought by this pack, we are going to describe the key features of Stay True. They are as follows:

· Updated grass appearance. It is now not the low grass but the high beautiful vegetation that attracts one with its density and beautiful shades of green, which are more saturated than in the vanilla game version.

· Flowers. The in-game flowers now look more attractive and colorful. All of them have become taller, more contrast, and more saturated, and all this is immediately noticeable against the background of grass and other changes.

· New block surfaces. Do you remember the pixels on such blocks as stone, dirt, cobblestone, and others? The developer of the Stay True texture pack has reworked the surfaces of each block, or at least of the most frequently found ones, to make them look better.

· Wheat. If you often plant wheat and use it as a decoration for large agricultural lands, fields, and beds, you should necessarily download the Stay True texture pack. Indeed, it has transformed here and now looks as in some farming simulator.

· Foliage. One of the features of this pack is the greatly improved foliage compared to the vanilla version of Minecraft. The fact is that not just green trees will now appear in different biomes. Each of them has a particular shade of foliage: some are green, some are yellowish, orange, yellowed, and so on.

· Dirt block particles. Have you ever noticed grains and particles within dirt and podzol blocks, say, in the swamp, in the dark forest, as well as in places with a large number of mushrooms? Probably not! However, with the Stay True texture pack, everything will change, and the visual changes affect even these minor details.

· Potato. Think that we have listed all the crops? Not at all! One of the main noteworthy changes is related to the potato. You will not see its dull appearance anymore. It can now boast a beautiful topping inspired by the real-world potato.

· Dead bushes and cacti. There are also several plant types growing in the sand biomes, and they play a significant role in the gameplay, so the developer of this pack has reworked the appearance of the dead bushes and cacti.

· Stone bricks. Have you often had to build something out of stone bricks, both chiseled and ordinary? The appearance of these materials will change while retaining the vanilla style. The buildings made of these blocks will now be even more beautiful.

· Underwater vegetation. The water expanses in Minecraft can boast numerous plants, kelp, and particles, and all this plays a significant role in the visual side of the game. Even the water's color is highly important for the cubic world, and many shaders try to change it. In this regard, too, it will be enough just to install the Stay True pack to improve these effects and ensure a vivid and colorful visual picture.

· Changed Nether. In the Nether, you can see the updated biomes and more vivid and contrast blocks, plants, and particles. So you will now visit this dimension more often, enjoying such beautiful views.

· Transitions between blocks. One of the problems of Minecraft is related to the standard look of blocks, even if they are placed in a row. Thus, if you put several stone bricks with some cobblestone blocks in-between, the transitions will look awkward. The pack fixes this situation, making them smooth, when the texture of one material is superimposed on another. And that looks great.

· Bastion Remnants. Do you often visit these places in Minecraft? Netherite, unique music discs, artifacts, new block types — all this is available only to true heroes ready to clean up such structures. As for the Stay True texture pack, it dramatically transforms their appearance.

· Bookshelves and chests. Chests and bookshelves are among the most frequently used item categories in Minecraft. They are needed everywhere, both to enchant items and to store resources. So the developer of this pack has implemented a lot of changes and innovations related to these items.

· Weather effects. Another problem of Minecraft is related to not quite impressive and, in some cases, even odd weather effects. You could fix them either using shaders or texture packs. The pack under consideration has also changed many points and corrected certain shortcomings, so the weather change will be smoother and more realistic.

· Wooden blocks and items. Texture designers often do not pay due attention to various blocks and elements crafted from wood. They merely change the appearance of the wood, but everything else is ignored. In contrast, the developer of the Stay True pack has improved many elements of this material.

· Color scheme. The developer has changed the color scheme and shades of most of the in-game blocks and items. Some have acquired more vivid colors, others more contrast. Everything has retained the usual vanilla style, but the color scheme has become slightly different, and over time, you will notice all the innovations.

The Stay True texture pack brings numerous changes, and, as you can see, they effectively transform the visual picture. It is impossible here to distinguish a specific category of blocks on which it focuses, say, ores, valuable materials, wool, or something else, as the changes affect elements of all the categories, including blocks, some phenomena, items, and the environment. We consider it one of the best texture options for Minecraft that fix many shortcomings and updates the appearance of most of the in-game elements. With this pack, the visual picture will be transformed, and the game world will become different, although you may initially not even notice that. Indeed, the mod focuses on minor details that you need to take notice of to appreciate the beauty of the game.

We launched the Stay True texture pack on version 1.19.3, and everything worked correctly. Moreover, many changes are immediately visible. However, you need to run or fly over different biomes to see the innovations. This pack can boast more than 10 million downloads for now, and the developer occasionally uploads updates for different versions. The latest version was released in July 2022, and the size of the texture pack is only 2 MB, which is relatively small for such add-ons.
