Very Simplified Textures for Minecraft!

In the modern world, it has become popular to change Minecraft’s client, as there are a lot of different authors offering their projects. Now, you can gradually change certain elements throughout the game without affecting the vanilla-style textures. But you can also rework the appearance of Minecraft by installing a large resource pack that contains all the texture changes. Most players prefer more realistic and beautiful options, but there are also those who like to make the game as simple and relaxed as possible. Separate projects are made to cope with such tasks, which, of course, look a bit strange, but this is exactly what we will review today. The project’s name is Sofron oCd.

The project features 16x resolution, but in fact, the textures are often as simple and monotonous as possible, and it sometimes feels like 8x. Although, honestly speaking, all the blocks are developed and elaborated quite well for such a minimalistic style; there is even certain beauty in all this. Each block looks fine, and it doesn’t seem like we are in some kind of unfinished game. The work is really elaborated, and now we’ll look at it in more detail.

New Look of Standard Biomes

We suggest starting with the most basic places – biomes, namely, with a regular forest. It’s the most common for the players, so we decided to take a look at it. Indeed, everything looks incredible unusual with this resource pack.

The simplicity of each block immediately catches your eye. Instead of a beautiful block of oak wood, there are now small strips. However, the birch tree is more beautiful and its bark has at least some kind of pattern. Also pay attention to the foliage; now there are no even rough leaves, with only squares instead. This simplification doesn’t look great, but fully corresponds to the style of the resource pack. The same applies to grass and stone, which are totally monophonic and feature just a slight color transition. Indeed, this suits the project, but it will be extremely difficult to play like this, because your eyes won’t be happy with this and will get tired quickly. Even the grass now consist of two colors, and it’s unclear who this resource pack will be suitable for.

Jungle

This place reveals the correctness of the color scheme of this resource pack. However, it’s quite simple in our case, and you shouldn’t expect something special from it. But we’ll still show you screenshots from this place, so that you just have an idea of how everything looks in reality, not in demo pictures.

Well, everything looks pretty good, considering the resolution and the author’s choice of color scheme. We don’t pay attention to the filigree design of the vines – this is part of the resource pack and its style. However, the author still should have made the colors a little more diverse, because this simplicity make each element look like merging with the environment and turning into a pixel mess. We also found untouched elements, namely lush caves, which the author left, as they are in the vanilla version of Minecraft. We don’t know if this has been done on purpose, or if the developer has simply forgotten about them.

Changes in other blocks of the game

We’ve already reviewed biomes, but not all elements of the game . So that you can assess almost every block, we’ve prepared a lot of screenshots. You can find them all below. We suggest starting with simple and more complex building blocks.

You can easily notice similarity in wood blocks, since they are all covered with small stripes. But there are also a few unique versions with their own pattern. It looks like the author was in a great hurry to redo his project for a higher version, so he hasn’t changed new types of blocks, such as cherry wood with boards and bamboo blocks.

Stone blocks

Some of them have got a very interesting look, but others have actually turned into one large pixel with a small border of a different shade. This design isn’t particularly attractive, but it’s also viable, because that’s how the author sees it. The reinforced deep stone hasn’t changed; probably, the author hasn’t added elements for a long time, since this block is a relatively old one. The underwater blocks are beautiful, and there is nothing to complain about here.

Other changes and copper

All the blocks are rather interesting, but for the usual Ender block, which didn’t even get a slightest gradient. This is the most common solid yellow color, which looks too simple. Fortunately, the author managed to show the degree of copper oxidation in this minimalistic style.

Colorful blocks

The result is pretty good, as the author slightly highlighted the wool by putting dots right in the middle of the texture. You should pay special attention to the glass, which has become completely transparent and beautiful. The vanilla version really lacks such glasses! By the way, the background is made of white concrete, which isn’t different from terracotta.

Ores

They have a special effect – a stable glow in white color, which slightly resembles glitter. This update can make it much easier to find minerals in caves, since animated blocks are much easier to notice than small dots on a stone. Everything has remained the same for the Nether ores.

Functional blocks

Each block has retained its original style and idea, but for one – the archer table. It looks very much like the workbench, however has a small red cloth on top. So, you can get confused if you don’t read the title.

Armor and tools

You can immediately see that weapons and tools haven’t absolutely changed, keeping their vanilla appearance. Unlike it, the armor has become very beautiful, since it lost all its unnecessary pixels, with only a saturated color and simplicity left. The framed item icons have also changed to more angular ones, which fully corresponds to the theme of this resource pack.

Food

Hasn’t changed at all.

Resources

Haven’t absolutely changed either. This is pretty strange, as it looks like the project is severely unfinished, but for some reason it’s released for very high versions. As a result, we have a work with its unique style that the author sticks to. But there are certain flaws as well. For some reason, the items were redrawn selectively, as the Netherite armor looks new, but the regular materials and food don’t. This is very strange, and we can’t understand it. In general, if you liked the project and you are ready to put up with such flaws, then be sure to install and play!
