SHC Ostriches – Ostriches instead of horses

You can replace almost any living creature in Minecraft in a couple of clicks, if you install a suitable texture pack. And for this you don’t have to use mods, as players often don’t want to look for versions suitable to their launcher assembly, have a low FPS, or just don’t need to install the «global» modification versions, which add numerous extra mobs.

In this article we offer you a review of the SHC Ostriches texture pack, which can give you ostriches in the game. However, they replace the standard horses (in the savannah only), so you’ll have to refuse them. But the ostriches’ parameters, loot and other characteristics will fully correspond to the horses, since nothing will change in the gameplay but for visual design. That’s why texture packs are good – they allow to get any existing image in a couple of clicks. To work correctly, it requires installed OptiFine.

Review of the SHC Ostriches texture pack

All your horses won’t disappear in Minecraft. The SHC Ostriches texture pack replaces these animals only in the savanna, so you can still easily find a horse in the rest of the biomes and saddle it, breed it, perform all the actions, which you are used to in the vanilla version. But in the savannah, now ostriches will appear by default, whether it is the normal generation or use of the summon egg.

The ostriches are slightly taller than the horses, although shorter. They have a unique animated texture: they wave their wings, shake their head, move their legs. They mostly appear in one color–scarlet, but there is a probability to encounter or spawn one even in purple. This type of ostrich has a different body color (legs, neck, and head). The feather shade differs as well. If normal species’ feathers are dark brown, then the rarer ones have dark blue, which looks more beautiful.

Small ostriches appear as well, whether by normal generation in the savannah or by clicking the adult species with the summon egg. They don’t differ from adult versions, fully correspond to them. This rule is applicable to rare types as well. If you decide to breed rare ostriches, you can use wheat or apples to get more animals. But keep in mind that no one on the server will see them, as it’s just a texture that changes their appearance for you, including in the single mode.

The SHC Ostriches texture pack perfectly combines with other packs. We have posted many different modifications that allow to change the appearance of certain Minecraft representatives, such as Better Squids, Jellyfish, Better Zombies, Village of Pigs (new inhabitants), and many other options. If you are interested – you can install a few texture packs at once to separately change the appearance of each group of creatures.

Is it an interesting pack? Yes, quite! The ostriches are perfectly detailed – not every mod can boast of similar models. And here you don’t have to install Forge and many additional libraries required by developers. Just install the SHC Ostriches texture pack, come to the savannah and enjoy the look.

Indeed, the only disadvantage is the limited biome. But the developer kept normal horses for you, which you can also breed and use as means of transport. Both animals have equal loot, so you can eat both ostriches and horses.
