JohnSmithLegacy is a rather interesting and popular resource pack that will introduce some medieval details into your game world. The world will become brighter, while blocks and items will acquire a more detailed look. Although the resource pack has a rather low resolution, which is slightly higher than the standard and is equal to 32, the textures have a well-designed look.

The first change you might notice when starting the game is related to the main menu. Almost every aspect of the main menu will change. The image of the background will have a different game landscape, which depicts an evening with a beautiful sunset. What’s more, the color of the item will become very beautiful and visually pleasing. On the right side, there is a golden inscription in small font. That’s the name of the resource pack – John Smith Legacy. The menu buttons also look different. They have thin gray outlines and are colored dark brown inside.

The inventory interface seems to switch to a dark theme. In general, the inventory has an almost transparent appearance. You will only see the frames, which will divide the slots. Thanks to this upgrade, you will be able to see the game world while you are in your inventory. The indicators of health and saturation will look slightly different but have the same shape. Health indicators are shaped like hearts that are a bit smaller and have gray outlines. The saturation bar also looks the same, but the pieces of food are slightly darker and smaller.

The grass block does not have the same smooth surface as before. It has both light and dark green particles, which give the block a natural look as if it is made of grass blades. If you look at the side of the grass block, you will see that the grass layer is a little larger and consists of quite well-drawn green petals. The dirt will also change and become a little darker. It’s all because it consists of dirt stones, which are separated from each other with the help of dark brown particles so that they are visible. The tall grass has a slightly different shade than the block, which looks lighter. Thus, the tall grass will stand out against the block. Its blades will become very low and almost imperceptible. But that’s only the early stage of the tall grass, which can be found in a wide variety of sizes. The double tall grass also looks different. Its blades are not as smooth as before. They look in different directions, which is especially noticeable on the top of the block.

The stone has a dark beige texture. Besides, the stone is less smooth than before. It consists of various pebbles that have different sizes and shapes and look very beautiful. The cobblestone has a similar beige color and is composed of fairly seamless bricks. You can use more of these blocks in construction, especially when building medieval structures, which look just great. Due to the change in the texture of the stone, the ore is no longer the same. What’s more, the valuable particles in the composition of the ore look different and each type of ore has its own shape. For example, the diamond ore is made up of one fairly large gem that is placed in the middle of a block and shines bright. The iron ore is composed of numerous small stones scattered all over the block.

Gems used as items also change. The diamond is a diamond shape. It has a more realistic color and even glows from time to time. The emerald looks like a rectangle, although with rounded ends. It looks more transparent and brighter and shined like a diamond. The shape of the gold and iron ingots will slightly change. They will get larger, which will be especially evident in the side parts. Fragments of gold consist of several rather large squares.

Gems used as blocks differ from each other. The lapis lazuli block is a block of bricks, but it has the corresponding color, i.e. blue. You can use more of these blocks in construction since they look very beautiful and suits well for the construction of medieval buildings. The gold block has a similar texture. However, it is very smooth and has much larger bricks. It is much lighter and has a bright sunny shade. The remaining blocks, i.e. diamond, emerald, and redstone blocks are very similar in their structure and differ only in color. They consist of dark gray frames. Inside them, there is a very bright color that looks like glass but is not transparent at all.

The block of white wool has brown frames along its edges. Colored wool does not have these frames. They can only be seen in white wool. In general, the wool is not as smooth as before and has more dark particles.

The glass becomes completely transparent since it lacks the previous distortions that prevented light from passing through. However, the glass has brown frames, which is why the transparency area is smaller. What’s more, there are patterns and they form a huge rhombus in the middle. The painted glass and panel of glass show the same changes, which means they have brown frames and some patterns.

If you look at the sky, you will see that it is much brighter. This is because it has no more square clouds, which looked rather ridiculous against the blue sky. However, the blue sky does not look empty since it has some white clouds, which have different shapes. Thick clouds are especially frequent near the horizons. In the daytime sky, there is one very bright star, which is not so difficult to notice since it stands out for its brightness and shines like the sun. By the way, the sun also looks different. It becomes very bright and gets a round shape, which is perhaps the most important and necessary change in it. Besides, the sun has rays that seem to be connected to it and form a different shape.

When it gets darker, this bright star seems to become larger. At night, it looks very bright and beautiful. Thus, it stands out against other stars since they look very small and dim. There are more changes in the night sky. They are related to the moon. The moon looks very bright and beautiful against the dark sky. It has a round shape, which makes it look highly realistic. And its coloring resembles the real-life moon. In the dead of night, you may notice stars and other space bodies falling.

The images on the paintings change. They become highly detailed. Some of them do not even look like paintings at all since they lack frames and other components and are part of the interior. One-block paintings represent a set of kitchen knives, an empty frame with a white background, and a set of carpenter’s tools. A two-block horizontal painting depicts a beautiful game sunset, a river, and a small forest nearby. In one of the large paintings, you can see a cartoon style depicting a certain landscape.

Oak and birchleaf blocks are identical. They only differ in color. The leaf block consists of four interconnected leaves. In general, the block is much more transparent. Birch leaves look brighter than oak leaves. Spruce needles have a similar bright green shade. The spruce wood is colored burgundy, especially around its edges. The birch wood does not have black particles at all. However, there are brown particles located mainly at the edges. If you look at the upper part of the birch wood, you will see that it consists of a fairly realistic trunk, which has a round shape. You cannot see this in other woods.

The sand is not as bright as before since it is colored orange. This is especially noticeable from a short distance, but it looks almost the same when you come closer. What’s more, the sand is less smooth and consists of wavy lines colored light and dark colors. The cactus spines are colored white. In general, the cactus becomes lighter. The water looks a little more transparent, while the waves move smoothly and slowly on its top layer.

The textures of creatures look much better. The cow has two color variations. One of them is colored black and has white spots. The other cow is colored bright brown and also has white spots. However, their structure is slightly different. The pig is pink, but it does not have the same smooth color. It is brighter at the edges and lighter inside. The pig has more pronounced details such as eyes, ears, and other body parts. The chicken can appear in three different color variations. One of them is colored white but is gray at the edges. Another chicken has brown feathers. And one more chicken has burgundy feathers, but its head is brown.
