Review Kal's Grimdark Viking Pack

Kal's Grimdark Viking Pack – add Viking’s tools and weapons to the Minecraft world!

Minecraft is an extremely versatile game where you can do a variety of things. However, sometimes you lack entourage to fully plunge into the world. It’s resource packs that come to the rescue in such situations. The developers intentionally didn’t restrict the players in creating such content. After all, the standard game features are often not enough. For example, you want to plunge into the world of the Vikings, but the local tools and weapons absolutely don’t match the specified theme. In such moments, you should go and check the web to find the right texture option. A vivid example of such work is Kal's Grimdark Viking Pack.

The work itself isn’t particularly large, since it’s only tools and weapons, as well as armor that changes. Besides, some elements, such as the shield, can change their texture depending on their name. In general, you won’t have any problems with diversity. And the Viking theme will absolutely match what you’ll see in the game. Additionally, there are 3D elements that even further immerse you into the world.

The Kal's Grimdark Viking Pack resource pack review

We should start with tools that have completely changed their look, but retained the entire original idea. Thus, you can clearly and easily recognize the pickaxe as this particular tool, which means the gameplay won’t turn more difficult.

As you can see, each of them has got a clearer texture, although the number of pixels hasn’t particularly change. If we consider these changes in relation to the topic they are dedicated to, then the authors have done a great job. Looking at them, you’ll immediately understand that they were definitely made not in our time, especially the pickaxe. It looks more like a kind of stick, not an agricultural tool.

Weapons

Since you’ve already seen axes on the pictures above, here we’ll only discuss swords and a trident. By the way, the latter is of a very interesting shape.

To tell the truth, we can’t claim that they are totally Viking-style. These are just good, decent textures that will fit well into the medieval world. However, the Netherite version looksquite good, and you’ll enjoy carrying it.

And here’s what a trident looks like, which has now become a hammer. Such weapons were often used in combat. Besides, the author attributes its name to a mythology where the hammer could summon lightnings. This is also possible in the game, but you need to enchant the trident with a certain special spell.

Bow and crossbow

They have also changed a little, but the changes aren’t very significant. At least, everything now looks very good, although you can’t say that this is the Viking style right away.

But arrows are now well-painted, and each type is strongly different from the others, so, you can easily distinguish them. Besides, they just benefited from a small texture redesign.

Armor

It now looks much better and more elaborated than it used to be. Instead of solid pixels, now you can see a lot of details.

As you can see, the armor is of different colors depending on the material used to craft this equipment. Unfortunately, the texture remains the same and doesn’t change from metal to metal.

The most beautiful, of course, is the Netherite version. Dark, almost black color, perfectly matches red and yellow inserts. If you install this resource pack on the server, you’ll look just amazing wearing this armor.

And this is what the turtle helmet looks like. It’s also often used in the game, just like regular armor, so it would be wrong to leave it as it is in the vanilla version.

Shield

We’ll talk about it separately, since there are plenty of options it can turn into. You’ll need an anvil to do this, thanks to a minor Minecraft mechanics when renamed items can get a particular texture.

There are ten versions of how your shield will look, namely:

· Rond

· Quarters

· Halves

· Dragon

· Wooden

· Stone

· Iron

· Golden

· Diamond

· Netherite

For the shield to change its texture, you need to give it these names.

By the way, this is how the end result will look on the character. It looks rather, it’s round versions of shields that were often used before. Choose the style that suits your taste. Fortunately, there are plenty of them to choose from.

Here’s the end of our review. Now, you know how you can decorate your world with resource packs. Kal's Grimdark Viking Pack perfectly matches the regular world of Minecraft, completely immersing the player in the ancient Viking age. All the weapons and tools have completely changed their look to make the atmosphere even more realistic. Install this pack and enjoy the world of Vikings!
