Indeed, the latter is not that easy to find in Minecraft, especially at the initial stages, as good armor, tools, and potions are needed to protect yourself from mobs, lava, and other threats that may await the player in the Nether.

Review of the Custom Lodestone Recipe Datapack

Lodestone is a relatively new block in Minecraft, as it was added in version 1.16. This block allows you to bind a compass to itself so that it points to it. Thus, you place a lodestone block at your house and come back later just by compass, even without a map. If you get lost, it will be enough just to equip the compass, and it will show you the way. You will thus be able to quickly return home, both in the Overworld and in other dimensions. So the lodestone plays a significant role in the vanilla version and is extremely important in cases where you do not have any mod that adds a map or other landmarks installed.

The developer of the Custom Lodestone Recipe datapack has replaced the crafting recipe for this block. It will now not require the netherite but just a compass. The latter should be placed in the middle with chiseled stone bricks around it. So you will need one compass and eight such bricks to make the lodestone block. As for how many of them to make, it is solely up to you, depending on where your buildings are and how you interact with them. By the way, you can also equip the elytra to fly around the game world and navigate by compass. You will thus be able to faster to get home.

As you can see, the crafting is simple, and that is the only feature added to the Custom Lodestone Recipe datapack. It is quite easy to install it: open the list of saves in the launcher, go to the folder with a map, find the Datapacks directory, and put this add-on there. Then open this map in the launcher again and craft the item according to the new recipe. Everything is quite clear and simple, so you will certainly not have any problems with that!
