Does this map require mods?

No, you don't need mods to play this map, but if you want to play versions 1.6 granny or higher you need a resource pack "Granny Pack"

Is it safe?

Yes, it's 100% safe. It doesn't contain any malware or anything like that.

Would you backport to older versions than 1.16?

Right now we don't have any plans to backport to older versions than 1.16.
