Aerynth: Shadowbane Emulator's Continents' Map in Minecraft

If you are reading this article, you are familiar with a game called Shadowbane Emulator, which is a revival of one of the classic MMORPGs created back in 2003. So there is no point in discussing the visual side of this project today. The game existed for six years and was later bought out by a Chinese company that gave it a fresh coat of paint. Serious success has not been achieved, though, although there are still a large number of fans of this game around the world.

But what does all this has to do with Minecraft? In Shadowbane Emulator, the main goal is to build up different types of territories, conquer them, And wage wars with other players. All these activities happen in a certain world with several continents. Moreover, it is one of the first projects that provided such an opportunity. So this MMORPG can be said to be among the first with the open world.

Now, the designer of a map called Aerynth has recreated a complete copy of the territory from Shadowbane Emulator. That is, we now have the continents from the popular MMORPG transferred to Minecraft. However, it should be noted from the outset that there are no structures there — just different types of biomes and nothing more! Even so, the designer has meticulously copied all the territories, terrain, and other important features from the original project.

Overview of the Aerynth Map

There is not much to say about the Aerynth map, as it contains no structures. It is just a familiar universe with a large number of continents. Some of them are adjacent, while others are separated by large and deep oceans or rivers. So you will have to take all this into account if you decide to install this map in your launcher.

Various territories differ in terms of ores and mines, as they do in Shadowbane Emulator. In fact, in Minecraft, they are distinguished according to the same principle, so those who have played the MMORPG in question will not notice any difference. The screenshot from the original game below shows the map of its territories.

When it comes to the area of the map, it is really huge. You will have to download about 200 MB, which is a significant size by the standards of Minecraft. Only some of the large cities in Minecraft have it. Such a size is explained by a large number of different continents and islands, so we can say that it is a very large map for Minecraft.

Water prevails on it, though. So if you prefer to play in aquatic biomes, it is a great option for you. You will be able to create ordinary or underwater ports, apply various mods to use new transport types, make use of different NPCs, or simply install a map on some server to play with a large number of players at once. Unfortunately, the standard generation system cannot create such terrains, which is why various fans have to make maps manually. Some of them even completely recreate the environment from GTA V and other major projects.

The only disadvantage of this location is the improper names of the territories in admin mode. Thus, if you try to teleport to the savanna, you will actually find yourself somewhere amidst a deep ocean. Most likely, this is due to the manual creation of the map, when the designer simply transferred all the locations from one game to another using different tools. Therefore, you will experience some problems with teleportation.

Summing it up, we can say that it is quite a good map with a cool and interesting terrain. It can be used both in singleplayer and multiplayer mode, but has a large size. So be prepared for the fact that when loading the save, your PC may slightly slow down, but this is quite normal for such large-scale maps for Minecraft. As for how to populate the new territories, what to build there, and how to make use of such terrain, this is entirely up to you. Fans of Shadowbane Emulator will be particularly pleased, as they will see a full-fledged map from the original project, which is quite old but has remained forever in memory.
