It is impossible to play any version of Minecraft without a normal and detailed map, so mod developers create different add-ons to make it possible for you to comfortably move around the game world, put navigation marks, add notes, look at different biomes, and examine the terrain in advance. And that is only a part of all the functionality featured by these add-ons. Generally speaking, hundreds of mods dedicated to maps have been created for Minecraft, but only dozens of them are popular, and one of the most convenient among them is called Xaero's Minimap. Its map has one clear advantage — it indicates which mobs are currently moving in any area.
What is that for? Say, you decided to go to the Nether. It is a specific location where there can be many levels, such as lava, height differences, huge holes, etc., it is impossible to notice mobs promptly, especially the ghasts that swoop down on you from above. It is here where mini-maps come to the rescue by displaying mobs. Thanks to this, you will understand which creatures are next to you or under you and how far they are. However, Xaero's Minimap supports only vanilla Minecraft by default, and that is a big problem for modpacks. So this review will be devoted to a texture pack that adds support for other mods.
This pack adds icons of mobs from different mods to the new mini-map so that you can immediately see where it is located and at what level. So while previously it was harder with extra mods before, after installing Xaero's Minimap - Modded Support, you will not have any problems, as you will see all the possible creatures on the map. This texture pack supports ca 75 add-ons, and the developer occasionally adds support for new mods to expand their range. The latest version was released for Minecraft 1.18.2, but the pack also works fine on the recent game versions.
The pack supports many global mods, most of which are familiar to you. They include:
· Creatures From The Lush Caves adds new types of mobs consisting of moss. They spawn mainly in the lush caves and can boast an unusual appearance that you have surely never seen before.
· Creatures From The Snow adds a wide range of mobs, such as narwhals, fur seals, and otters, to the snowy biomes. They have eye-pleasing appearances and high-quality textures.
· Creeper Overhaul brings a huge selection of creepers to Minecraft. If you have this mod, you should necessarily install the texture pack under consideration, as creepers often appear very unexpectedly.
· Goblins & Dungeons adds goblins with unique characteristics, behavior patterns, and combat tactics to the game. As many as seven types thereof are available.
· LLamarama implements new mechanics of interaction with llamas in Minecraft, thanks to which it will be possible to extract wool and create new types of farms, given that these animals attract honey bees.
· Whisperwoods adds such colorful and wonderful forest inhabitants as wisps, moths, etc., that have unique characteristics.
· Magma Monsters brings a beautiful lava monster that can set blocks ablaze, shoot fireballs, and inflict great damage on the player to Minecraft.
· Naturalist is a global game mod that adds a large number of realistic animals, such as bears, butterflies, snakes, and many others.
It makes no sense to list all the mods, as they are numerous. However, all of them have something to do with mobs. In turn, the Xaero's Minimap - Modded Support texture pack, which perfectly serves its task, will allow you to see where they are located. It will be enough just to install this pack and have the recent version of Xaero's Minimap, as the latter provides the map itself. By the way, the developer has implemented an interesting feature. If you have mobs from an add-on not supported by this pack, they will still be displayed as a special icon, so you will see that some creature is moving around the map in any case.
As for the icons themselves, they are different, and you will have to get used to them at first. However, when it comes to fish, you will immediately understand that an icon refers to them, as they are perfectly displayed in any aquatic biome. The same applies to the mobs in the Nether, the End, and other dimensions, plentifully featured by various mods. It is also important to keep in mind that to display specific mobs and for the proper functioning of Xaero's Minimap - Modded Support, you will need to enable the display of all the entities in the map's settings. Besides, you will be able to choose exactly how they will be displayed: only the player, everything, only icons without names, etc.
As you can see, this pack copes with its task perfectly and is necessary for fruitful and comfortable playing, especially if you have many add-ons installed. Many modpacks include universal tools and integrated mods for displaying mobs from most add-ons, but we advise you to always read the description. We also recommend you install a mod called Damage Indicators by ToroCraft to see the health bar of any creature you meet in the Minecraft game world. It is arguably one of the most convenient and effective tools for that purpose.
Note! If, during installation, the system will show you a notification that some version is not supported, skip it and continue the installation. The latest version of Xaero's Minimap - Modded Support was released for Minecraft 1.18.2 but runs perfectly and works with other updates, including Minecraft 1.19.3, as we have checked before composing this review. The developer occasionally updates it, but not as often as we would like. However, this pack can boast more than six million downloads, and this number is growing every day. Are you still hesitating, or are you going to download it?
