Review Invictus - Vanilla

Invictus is a very simple but interesting resource pack that does not make textures uncommon and unrecognizable but just complements them, giving them an attractive appearance and colors. Thanks to the improved 64x resolution, the textures now look more elaborate and thus much more beautiful, which cannot but please fans of vanilla Minecraft.

The first thing to notice when starting the game is, of course, related to the main menu. Almost every significant element thereof has been affected by the changes. This is also true of the background image. It now depicts quite an ordinary but cozy in-game room. There is a chest on one side and a crafting table on the other. As for the textures, they are taken from this resource pack, so you can immediately notice the changes in the respective blocks. However, the background image is still blurred, so it won't be possible to see much on it. The game title has the vanilla font but acquired a smooth appearance. The menu buttons have also changed, and their frames have received a rather smooth light brown shade.

Entering the game world, you can notice that the inventory GUI and other aspects have changed. The inventory has acquired a color scheme similar to the one of the main menu buttons. It cannot boast special features, though. The health and hunger bars have been changed. The former has changed insignificantly. It has basically retained the familiar look — only the size and color of the hearts have been modified. Besides, they have become a bit smaller, and their color is a little brighter and nicer. As for the hunger bar, it has acquired a whole different shape. It now consists of red apples that are of the same size as the hearts of the health bar.

The sky has transformed almost entirely. You will not see familiar square white clouds, which did not fit so well with the appearance of the blue sky, anymore. They have been transferred to the blue sky itself. That is, there are now no clouds below, so they no longer prevent one from looking at the sun and the firmament. These clouds are of various shapes, so they are not square and are basically highly attractive and voluminous. One can also notice changes related to the sun. It has become very bright, so it is now very difficult to look at it for a long time, because it blinds. If you remember the vanilla sky, you can immediately notice changes in terms of size. The updated sun has simply become very small, which is quite strange, as it should perhaps get bigger. But the most significant change has affected its shape, as the sun has acquired a round appearance.

The night sky has also undergone changes associated with the moon and some other elements. The stars are no longer the same — they differ in size, and some of them are now quite large. The night sky is basically very bright — one can find various lights on it. However, very dark clouds are located on the horizon. The moon has become very bright and realistic in terms of color. Just like the sun, the moon has acquired a round shape but basically retained its former size.

The grass block has become a bit brighter. It is not so smooth, and one can distinguish particles in it as if the blades of grass are arranged in this way. Having taken a look at the side of the grass block, one can see that the grass layer has decreased and now occupies its smaller part. The rest, of course, is dirt, which texture has also changed. It now consists of some earth stones, which are clearly noticeable. Besides, it has become brighter. The tall grass has also been affected by the changes and now is of two types. The first one has very small blades, which are almost invisible, even from a short distance. The other type has roughly the same size, but its blades are much thicker.

The trees have significantly transformed and begun to look just great. All because their leaves do not have the familiar square shape anymore. The texture of the leaves and needles of birch, oak, and spruce is basically identical, differing only in color. The oak leaves are of a green shade with yellow particles in some places. The birch leaves are colored in a very light green shade with a mixed yellow tint. However, the needles have retained a dark green shade. Taking a look at a block of foliage, you will see that it consists of quite beautiful petals. They now come straight out of the block, and the leaves thus appear lusher and not square as before. The wood is basically colored as before, but its textures have become elaborate.

The textures of all the flowers have changed. Almost all of them have begun to look like small bushes, as in the case of the tall grass. The poppy and the dandelion are basically similar in terms of structure. They consist of a small bush of blades of grass, on top of which there are several inflorescences of the appropriate color — only the dandelion's inflorescences are smaller. The blue cornflower has very low flowers and consists of several stems that are not connected to each other in any way — they are just scattered over the surface of the entire block.

The tulips also began to differ not only in color but also in the structure of the stems. The red and pink tulips have basically identical structures. They consist of several stems of different lengths and have very lush green petals that give them a more attractive appearance. The flowers are now of a different shade. The red tulip has now become lighter and brighter, and its color is very pleasant. The pink tulip has now acquired a more appropriate color and is not as white as before. The stems of the red and pink tulips are colored brown. The white tulip has very low stems, but they are slightly larger. Its stems are green, which distinguishes it from other tulips. The allium now consists of several stalks. You can notice a rather large stem in the middle and smaller stems along its edges. Green petals have appeared on them, which give this flower a more lush appearance. Its inflorescences have also changed, becoming brighter and lusher. The tall flowers have also changed. The rose bush now has a smaller size than the peony or lilac. Their flowers have become lusher and brighter.

The glass block has now deprived of the distortions that prevented light from passing through, and the view through them has improved. Small distortions can still be noticed along the edges of the block, but they are not as significant as before. The glass block has acquired black frames along its edges. Similar changes can be seen in the case of the tainted glass, but the frames here are painted in the same color as the glass itself — only it is darker and not transparent. The glass pane has undergone exactly the same changes.

The images in the paintings have also been affected by the changes. They have become elaborate, so you can now better see them. In one-block paintings, we see an image of a white canvas and nothing else, gray slabs, and an approximate screenshot from the game world, where you can notice grass blocks. In the horizontal two-block painting, one can see a modified in-game screenshot with white clouds. The vertical two-block painting features a black canvas with a light ribbon on top. In one of the large paintings, we see an apple tree with only one red apple on its foliage.

The sand is now of a very light shade, and its texture is quite smooth. There are no more changes in it, though. The cactus is now of a darker shade, and its spines are colored white, which is quite odd. The water can now boast a very pleasant shade. It has become lighter and thereby more transparent, so even the bottom of deep seas is now visible.

The stone has become a bit lighter, and some particles are now visible in it, which divide it into quite realistic smaller stones. The cobblestone has a similar light shade; that is, it has become much lighter. One can distinguish various bricks in it that have quite an even shape. As the texture of the stone has changed, the ores have also transformed, given that their basic component is stone. The precious particles in the ore composition are now much more numerous and have very beautiful shapes in the form of small stones, not particular squares as before.
