Swampier Swamps

Swampier Swamps– a small modification that will significantly expand and diversify swamps by adding new blocks, animals, a village, and updated mechanics.

Swamp

The first and possibly the most significant innovation of this modification is the swamp appearance. The swamp becomes much larger and more diverse.

Plants

First of all, the mod introduces beautiful and realistic cattails, as well as giant lily pads. You can take cattails by hand and then plant them in water if the depth is no more than 1 block. You can also grow cattails if you right-click on the water while holding bone meal in your hand. Besides, if you find giant lily pads, you can use them for your own purposes.

New lily pad mechanics

Regular lily pads have a new mechanic. You cannot stand long on a regular lily pad since it will sink. You can stand on a regular lily pad for only 1 second. Then it will sink into the water and drop in the form of an item.

Frog

The mod adds two mobs – a frog and a dragonfly. The frog can rarely be found in a swamp biome. Besides, you are more likely to see it on land rather than in swampy water. This mob is perfectly detailed and has good and realistic animations. The frog is completely friendly toward the player. The frog comes in several colors – red, green, brown, and yellow. It is quite easy to understand that there is a frog nearby by its croaking. Upon death, it drops its legs, which can be fried and then either eaten or used for potions. A frog leg can be crafted into a potion of leaping. The effect of this potion is very simple – it boosts leaping.

Frogs can jump two blocks high to easily eat another swamp dweller – a dragonfly. This also happens using a very beautiful animation of sticking out the tongue.

Dragonfly

Dragonflies also have several colors – blue, yellow, red, and green. In terms of functionality, dragonflies are useless – they only drop a small amount of experience. However, dragonflies add a lot of ambiance to a swampy biome since they are much more common than frogs. In addition, as described above – dragonflies are prey for frogs.

Gas

Swamps can now contain gas formations, which are both dangerous and useful. Breathing these gases gives you the poison and nausea effects that last 10 seconds. You should also be careful since the ignition of these gases will cause a powerful explosion that will burn everything down. However, if you collect the gases in a bottle by pressing the RMB, you will be able to create a gas lamp. If you see a gas cloud, be sure to collect it since the gas formation will evaporate over time.

Village

An equally important innovation for a swampy area is a swamp village. The swamp village is found in all vast biomes. Its houses will be redesigned and its villagers will no longer look the same.

Decaying kelp

The village has non-standard farmlands that use those innovative gas lamps. In these farmlands, crops grow on decaying kelp. The only difference between regular farmlands and decaying kelp is the growth speed. The new land makes plants grow much faster due to its increased humidity.

The village is full of bonfires. They not only illuminate the village (which makes it very easy to spot the village at night) but also replace furnaces.
