Swamp Expansion – Swamp Biome Mod

The Swamp Expansion mod updates the swamp biome by adding new plants and creatures to it. Swamp biomes will generate giant mushrooms, such as fly agarics and brown mushrooms.

The world generates a new type of swamp, which has a lake surrounded by lands with tall grasses on all sides. The main feature is that you can grow rice somewhere near the coast. To do that, use bone meal as a fertilizer. Rice grows only in water. Moreover, rice provides new types of food.

One of the new types of food that uses rice is Squid Ink Risotto. To cook it, use 7 pieces of rice, a bowl, and an ink sac. This food source is one of the most efficient in Minecraft. By combining 4 pieces of rice, you will get a rice ball, which contributes +2 saturation points. To get a cod fish seaweed roll, you need to combine dried kelp, raw cod, and a rice ball. If you replace raw cod with tropical fish, you will get a tropical fish seaweed roll. Besides, two types of pie use a rice ball and dried kelp. If you combine these two ingredients with raw salmon, you will get a salmon fish pie. And if you replace salmon with pufferfish, you will consequently get a pufferfish pie.

Swamp biomes generate a new tree – the willow. In its structure, the willow is similar to the oak. Swamp willow trees, as well as oaks, have vines. Besides, the willow has a new block on its lower branches. These are hanging willow leaves.

Like other types of trees, willows provide standard building blocks such as steps, pressure plates, hatches, doors, fences, and boats. They have the same crafting as other similar blocks.

Swamp biomes have another new plant, which is the cattail. It has two textures. When the cattail is in water, its leaves sway. And when it is on land, they don’t. The cattail looks similar to reeds. It has a total of 4 growth stages and is 2 blocks high. At the last growth stage, the tree gets white fluff, which represents cattail seeds. You can plant them or you can use three cattail seeds to obtain one fiber. If you combine four cattails, you will get a cattail thatch. It is used as a decorative block to create steps and slabs.

Another new plant is the duckweed found in three colors: brown, dark brown, and dark green. It appears in small groups. To grow duckweed, you can use bone meal as a fertilizer. In this case, it will spread through the water. By combining 4 duckweeds in a workbench, you will get a duckweed block. It is used as a building block to create steps and slabs.

Swampy biomes also generate liquid mud, which has a brown color. You can also obtain mud in a completely different way. To do that, combine 8 dirt blocks and a bucket of water in a workbench. Thus, you will get 16 mud balls that can be thrown in much the same way as snow, but their flight speed will be lower. If you smelt a mud ball, you will get a mud brick. You can use mud bricks in the construction of slabs, fences, and steps. You can also create a mud flower pot and use it to place flowers, as well as to hide any object to make it invisible.

Another new creature is the slabfish. You can find it both in water and on land, which means it can live in both environments. It is a friendly creature. Even when attacked, it won’t be aggressive. You can breed the slabfish by feeding it either tropical fish or tropical fish seaweed rolls. These creatures are unique and may be of different colors. Their color depends on their habitat and much more. But the most common are dark green and light green. You can use slabfish to locate chests and then color them with a dye. These mobs can also take on wools of any color.
